It's been 25 years since Risky Business. We're celebrating Tom's work on the big screen—see which friends and colleagues will surprise him!
With all the nonesense Tommy boy is spewing. I am going to pass on the next show and anymore shows from Oprah. That is unless she and her production team decides to take a look on the other side of what it that deserves equal, if not better, treatment.
This has opened up a can of worms. This is being talked about, much the same as on these boards, ALL over the net. Oprah has really lost her standing with many. She lost ALOT of fans with her "STEPFORD WIFE" stance and ignoring the big issue. She is not a journalist, she is a mere celebrity, a wealthy one at that, but a celebrity now complete with all the phony kiss kiss fluff. What a huge crushing bummer after the web class with Mr Tolle.
I was also disappointed. Oprah has done a lot of good. I must say I do like the concept of The Big Give.
I just wished that she'd taken more risks with this interview. Why let him off the hook? Tom deserves to be asked the hard questions - he's trained for it. Part of Scientology includes auditing - basically the person is interrogated with hundreds of questions while connected to a lie detector WHILE a video camera records everything. A simple Oprah interview should of been a breeze. Very disappointed.
I will watch Monday's show. If just to see what she and he will do next.
I loved part 1. I have been fascinated with Tom and Katie since the couch jumping episode, and I am too old to be a "fan", and read those magazines. People write songs and express love in so many ways, and when Tom Cruise got dramatic...euphoric, etc., everyone was, like, shocked. I personally think there's "in love" and sometimes just " in lust", and all things in between. But, maybe Tom and Katie have one of those classic, forever romances, like Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, or Lauren Bacall and ...I forget who....we all dream about it. In any case, i hope so for them.
It seems like Katie isn't too into just how she looks, her career, and stuff superficial, but more into making a home, and loving her family....you don't see that everyday. I think it's real, and I think they are very, very blessed.
Can't wait for part 2.
Oh please! More of the same fluff? There are bigger issues here that Oprah should've pressed.
I expected her to ask the hard questions, instead she was finishing his sentences, making excuses and generally leading him through that first interview. I loved the part where she was talking about the "stolen" video was "edited. It was clearly edited and edited!"
The fact is that the video was not edited. It appeared on the net exactly as it came from the Scientology source. Irregardless if it was edited or not, there were some pretty hard hitting complete sentences in there: Scientologists are the only ones who can help at a traffic accident? Clearing the planet? If you look up what the Scientology term for "clearing" is, it means to get rid of everyone except Scientologists. And he laughs at the thought of a world with no SPs. The Scientology term for SP is a suppressive person - a non Scientologist.
Let's try putting that in another context. What if a Jew talked about clearing the planet of all non-Jewish people? Or a Muslim talked about killing every non-Muslim?
This is very dangerous talk people! And taken from when Tom Cruise thought he wasn't being watched - when he was being himself. But Oprah allowed him to ACT his way through the interview. She threw softballs, then helped him through in order to repair his public image.
Very upset!
This will be sickening.....I refuse to watch another love fest between Oprah and Tom. How about discussing some of the BIG ISSUES like Scientology??? Is Tom aware of what really goes on in the cult? Maybe it would have been good to ask him because everyone is assuming that he is going along with the bad "stuff" in the cult. I am so disappointed in Oprah. I know that she doesn't care because she's ultra rich and I suppose she has forgotten what it's like to be just an average American.
She's certainly forgotten what it's like to be an honorable journalist. And she's proved that children in other countries are more important than those here at home. Oh, and dogs are more important too!
Why does she keep pushing Tom Cruise on us? I cant stand him - never could. Why does she waste time on celebrities like him who do no good for anyone but themselves? She is no journalist for sure but she could be using her airtime to inform people about REAL issues the way she did 20 some years ago when she got started. People watched her then because they LEARNED something. Now she is just like the celebrities she fawns all over - dare I use the word "elitist"? She needs to get back in touch with regular people and talk about what regular people care about. Does she care what we are paying for a gallon of gas as she is chauffeured around town? Does she care about the poor children in THIS country who go to bed hungry at night? It is time to stop lovin' on the pretty people of Hollywood and do some IMPORTANT shows like she did with the puppymills. She has the power to CHANGE things - USE IT FOR GOOD!!
Well I for one LOVED the fact that she had Tom on! I was one of those people, like many of you that was fed up with all the Tom Cruise nonsense. This is the first time I have posted, or been on the boards, but felt like I wanted to be heard! I don't normally get to see the show because of work, but am home for a couple of week recovering from foot surgery, so I got to see both parts! Loved it! I laughed out loud so many times today! I got to thinking....who am I to judge? I have made mistakes, and have been forgiven, so who am I to look down my nose at him. We all need to remember that we all make mistakes, his are just made bigger because he is in the public light. He has tried to make things right, and I think it is time we forgive. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you Oprah for making me remember why I love him, and his movies! And Tom, if by some chance you get to see this. Keep doing what you are doing.... ![]()
"She has the power to CHANGE things - USE IT FOR GOOD"!!!
Yes, Oprah has the power to change things for the better and so does Tom. Not to be rude, but Tom especially needs to get off his "it's all about me horse" and use
I've always believed that everything is part of God's divine plan. God gives us all different things to see what we do with them.
I agree with Scoobie007. Everyone is here for something. If you look back at the 20 Year Anniversary DVD of Oprah's, it used to be so different on her show. She had shows on topics that concerned people and helped so many of them. She focused on IMPORTANT things. Now things are so celebrity oriented and so superficial - such as her "favorite things" no one I know could afford. I know My Favorite Things would be knowing children are not hungry in the city where I live, and people wont lose their homes because they cant pay their medical bills. Her show is more Entertainment Tonight and Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous instead of important topical shows. OPRAH - Get BACK ON TRACK!!!
