A Shift! Thin people look good in shifts. I have a shift alright, but it is in my body distribution. Gravity has shifted my weight to my hips. A shift on me is an A-Line Dress. Ha Ha

One of the best shows ever, and I haven't even seen it on my TIVO yet! I need to know who the hair dresser is that did these fabulous transformations ... I'm looking for a professional that can make me look good, too...please let me know.

I couldn't wear those shoes for 4 hours let alone a whole day! and to interview in black stockings is too sexually provacative. Black stockings in the daytime for work? nah. I laugh at the "affordable" wardrobes! How out of touch are they getting @ Harpo? I can't afford to get my hair done like those women had, let alone buy those outfits on top of all that! Geez, what about finding the same treasure troves @ Target or Walmart? I'm sure that this Gorgeous man can turn any ole sow into a silk purse, but these women were not unattractive to start with. And if he was remaking me, shoot, I'd let him redress me any ole way too! black stockings and all!!! hubba hubba!!

Oprah really needs to watch her mouth sometimes. She basically said that the "buff" pantyhose were only good for nurses and not someone in a business environment. News flash Oprah! Nurses no longer wear the traditional white dress, hose, cap and orthopedic shoes. We attempt to dress professionally in color coordinated scrubs that allow us to comfortably move in the care of patients. White doesn't work so well when you are being vomited or pooped on or someone hemorrhages all over you. Your comment, although some would see it as benign, really set the images of nurses back in the dark ages. You should also know that nurses are not all at the bedside anymore. Many of us are in grad school getting our Master's and Doctoral degrees. We teach, we work in the business and legal environments and in research. The business fashion pointers on your show would be very helpful for nurses entering other areas of healthcare besides the bedside. Your pantyhose comment about nurses really ticked me off, and I hope you get a lot of mail from other nurses who feel the same way.

Interesting show. Beautiful clothes. I plan to read "Basic Black." However, I am a woman weighing 300 lbs. with large lymphedema legs. I try to look as professional as possible but always feel that I just don't measure up. Is there anyone that can tell me how to dress for success?

Yeah, I wonder if those Macy's gift cards can buy anything that was featured on the show. You'd have to get a makeover from Oprah's team just to look like that, ironically. Being out of touch and unfashionable is one thing, but don't you have to get the job before you can afford to look glamorous??:|

Just saw something that REALLY got my attention. There was a lady who is about to graduate with Masters Degree and when looking at her...I was drawn to her legs. I was placement director for many years for well known college and many recruiters would tell me to never send a female that had hairy legs. They were so against it saying it made them think they didn't take good care of themselves so wouldn't do well on the job. I then encouraged all my female students, about to graduate, be sure you have no hair on your legs before going to the interview. Amazing the quirks recruiters or interviewers have when selecting the correct candidate for the position.

Unless you wear bifocals that have ZOOM lens how would you know that someone has hair on their legs. That's the problem with women today. They're always putting another woman down. Whoever told you to not send someone to them because they didn't shave their legs was a stupid employer. Pray tell me how it is that just because a woman doesn't shave her legs reduces her intelligence? And where does it come from that unshaven legs is a sign of an unclean body? That has nothing to do with her intelligence. That stupid employer is probably passing up on one of the best DAMN employee that they would have ever had. And Oprah has featured women who probably shave their WHOLE body but their homes are trashy and their bodies probably smell at times. So the unshaven leg tells us nothing but it only shows another form of discrimination. And before you say that I don't shave my legs....I DO. But not for the reasons you just mention.

I agree with kackml. In addition, every person they dressed had 4 inch heels. If a thin body and and 4 inch heels are needed to get a job, I guess I won't be applying for one anytime soon. If I put on those heels I would be flat on my face within the first steps due problems with my feet. Can't you show footwear for the real woman who has to walk more than 5 feet, with various issues like this?

Today's show was the worse Oprah show I've ever seen. The 2 people she had on couldn't be more annoying. They in no way showed anyone how to anything but how to be incredibly full of yourself. Truly just awful.

Why do wardrobe and image consultants ALWAYS suggest the color BLACK? Many do not look good in black at all! It is a harsh difficult color to wear as is SNOW WHITE. Examples: These women do NOT look good in black (or snow white): Jennifer Aniston, Goldie Hawn, Kelly Ripa, Babs Striesand, Barbara Walters, Carrie Underwood, Reba McIntyre and to throw in a gorgeous man, Robert Redford looks dead in black!
So for those of you who need that 'little basic black suit/dress", find YOUR best dark shade and go for it! Brown? Navy? Rust? Forest? Green?, Khaki?, Olive? , a Charcoal?
When in the store and trying on clothes, look at yourself in the mirror, (zero in on your face, eyes, hair); turn away and then quickly turn back to the mirrors. If your eyes go straight to the color of the clothing , it is not your shade. You should wear the color; the color should not wear YOU!

So go for it jgave---find what color is GREAT on you and go for it! You will get that job or make that sale. This theory has been proven again and again.
