Oprah sits down with Tom Cruise in an exclusive one-on-one interview from his home in Telluride, Colorado, to talk about his family, his life and the future. Then, on Monday, May 5, Tom joins Oprah at her studio in Chicago to celebrate his 25 years in films since his breakout role in Risky Business. Plus, friends and colleagues surprise Tom with special taped messages honoring his work in movies.

See what happened on the show!

I can't help but imagine Oprah saying, "If he wants to jump on furniture, this time he can jump on his OWN darn furniture!"

While watching Tom's fan from the 2001 clip Oprah today and then the current clip in the fan's office 2008 telling her that Tom asked that she be at the show next week, I could not help but think, that the Tom Cruise this girl is a fan of, is a very different TC than the one she met in 2001. A lot of "stuff" has gone on with him that would make me re-consider being such a big fan. In fact it did, I was a big fan of his up until he went into his "crazy talk" about women and birth, etc. I still think there is something 'off' with him. Esp when his wife is now a clone of Posh Spice who is a close friend of Tom's. Nicole must realize the bullet she dodged by getting out when she did.

Oprah Winfrey needs to know:

-That its no longer acceptable to do a fluff interview with Tom Cruise that fails to address the core scandals of Scientology.
-That it's not OK to lend her tacit support to a brain washing cult that breaks up families and behaves
more like an organized crime family than a religion.
-That with all that has been so widely publicized about Scientology since TC's last appearence with her that it insults the intelligence of her audience if she fails to ask Tom the hard questions about the group that he is supporting, or about his own well documented bizrre behavior, or about the widely circulated and off paradied Scientology videos featuring him, or about his violent exhortation to "go to guns" against psychiatry.
-That the man has been shown applauding when an image of an exploding hand grenade has been displayed in connection with psychiatry and its not OK to focus questions on "Risky Buisness."
-That many, many people are watching very closely how she handles this interview, and will judge her forevermore based upon how she handles these issues. These people include a growing number of scientology critics, an increasingly internet savvy audience of millions who already know the score about what TC is all about, and a growing number of ex-scienos who have recently become emboldened to tell their stories, and express their views about anyone who gives tacit support to scientology.

-That Tom Cruise is a bald-faced lier. Oprah has already shown that she is capable of turning on one of her pets when she feels they heve been shown to be dishonest. When James Frey was shown to have fabricated much of his memoir "A Million Little Pieces" Oprah called him out on it, and saved face for herself in the process. Tom's lies about Scientology (no xenu, yeah right!) and psychiatry are far more dangerous than anything Frey made up about himself. It's time for Oprah to call him out and give him a chance to come clean.

In the mean time I hope we all can find ways to let her know that a rampant internet community will see to it that, this time, she aint gonna get a free pass on fluff.

It takes so long to read all of these long-winded messages that the oprah.com website logs me out and I have log in again in order to enter this message when I had logged in before I started to look at the message board, but I guess that reading caused it to timeout the login due to inactivity. But, here's my message:

1st of all, I'm going to gladly watch the Oprah Show on 5/2 and 5/5 on T.V.

2nd of all, it is in bad taste to ridicule the gal that is Tom's biggest fan, but you have the right to your own opinions.

3rd of all, when I was a freshman in college, I had a Catholic boyfriend and I'm from a Presbyterian background. My Catholic boyfriend was pressuring me to convert to Catholicism before he would marry me, but I refused to do so. I think I paid the price for it all of these years, for even though I did eventually marry someone else, I'm now a divorcee and childless at 45 and am wondering if I'm ever going to have any childre. So, even though I like Tom Cruise as a person, if he pressured me to turn to Scientology, I doubt if I'll give in and do so just simply because he wanted me to do so. But, I know that Scientologists are not the only ones who do this kind of thing. My mom and my sister pressured me for a number of years to join a Charismatic Church and I refused to do so. So, I just don't give in to that sort of thing, but I know that Scientologists aren't the only ones who do this kind of thing. It is my life's experience to be getting pressured to join this or that particular church.

Being pressured to join a religion in a relationship is commonplace. But Scientology is different. Those inside are not permitted to associate with critics at all. They are declared suppressive persons (SP's) and no one inside is even allowed to speak to them. People leave religions all the time. But scientology is the only religion that harrasses people to the point of fear when they leave. Many exscientologists are fearful to even speak out against it for fear of retrobution. Families are destroyed on a reguar basis, here.

Jenna Miscavige Hill, neice of the head Scientology, relates a story of a family whose daughter left scientology with her parents still inside. Although they live within minutes of each other, they are not permitted to speak to their daughter. When she had her first child, she called them and asked if they want to see their first grandbaby and was hung up upon. The only thing said was "you know we can't talk to you". How's that for a "religion"? Others that have left are still being followed and stalked. Don't take my word for it, look on the web. Personal stories are popping up everywhere. I'd post links but this board doesn't allow it, though you won't have to look far to find them.

The worst religion story you can find does not compare with the atrocities that happen in the name of Scientology's desire to "clear the planet".

I am very disappointed in Oprah for allowing Tom to have a platform to plug his religious beliefs again. Since the couch jumping incident, there have been numerous stories and opportunities for Oprah to familiarise herself with the serious and brutal human rights abuses which are connected to Scientology and which are taking place on American soil today. If she hasn't then she is either a Scientologist or she doesn't care about the people of America. Tom Cruise seems like an intelligent man but for him to be lead into this pyramid selling scheme shows blinding naivety or a complete lack of humanity. I recommend that Oprah, her researchers and her audience take a look at ex-scientology kids website (run by the niece of David Miscaivage, the chap who went on honeymoon with TC and Katie Holmes) and her take on the "religion". They torture and abuse their members. David Miscaivage makes Warren Jeffs look like a square. Why would anyone wish to hear the words of Scientology's poster boy when you know all of this?

So whoat if Scientology is responsible for forced abortions of its Sea Org members, harrassing its critics and ex members, extorting money and destroying families. It cured Tom's dyslexia, so that must make it all right.

Canyonlady

So long as Tom's dyslexia is cured then it's OK to murder unborn children because they are inconvenient? Am I getting you right?

Sweet Lord, can anyone spot the Scientologist? If you're not, you should look into it, they are all as cold and dead inside as you clearly are.

Minkypie, I think that post was sarcastic...

Oprah, you need to address Scientology's abuses and Tom Cruise's funding of the organization.

They don't allow their members basic human rights, something I've always thought you stood up for.

I already posted in the other thread, but I thought I'd do so here as well.

The cult supports the idea of global genocide.

See the Tones Scale, clearing the planet, and dealing with an "SP". They believe that millions of people are naturally "Suppressive Persons", they also believe that Scientology is able and has a right to destroy said people at any cost.

That should be enough, and if it isn't, Oprah needs to have a psychological evaluation. I would never sit in a room and interview a person who believes that genocide is acceptable.

If the show airs, I will assume that Oprah also supports TC, Scientology and their collective ideals.

I am certain we will see the end of several careers over the next two years while the FBI gather intelligence on the cult.

I always thought Tom Cruise was a great guy but after reading some of the practices of this cult he endorses I'm wondering if maybe he is being a little niave. Do they really force members to Disconnect from their friends and family if they don't agree with scientology? Its scary that a so called church would target anyone with such malignant action.

I wonder if Katies even knows that the church set up a list of suitable women for Tom and she was something like the 4th candidate.

I have been an Oprah fan for years and I am keeping my fingers crossed that she will ask the hard questions. I will be so disappointed in her if all she does is pander to Cruise. He is the public face of a very dangerous group. I personnally don`t want to just hear Cruise tell us how great it is, how it cured his dyslexia and how wonderful he is as he grins like a fool. I want to know if he is aware of these allegations, are they true and what actual proof is there to dispute them. Let's hope the same Oprah who taught James Frye a lesson comes out to play with Mr Cruise, that would be a show to watch!
