NO CRUISING FOR ME

Posted on Apr 25, 2008 8:18 AM

I just read a news item saying Tom Cruise (and his family) will be on Oprah in early May. That is one show I will be sure to miss. Does Oprah think people are the least bit interested in Cruise and his life? Is this to be some kind of redemption from his fool act on Oprah three years ago? NOT INTERESTED, DON'T CARE.

I am so glad someone said something about this! I for sure will not be watching. I know what scientology is all about. I have done tons of research and it's one evil cult. I also happen to know, well knew, someone who is in this cult and it's the most evil, crazy, money grubbing, crap you'll ever see. They take all your money, they brainwash you, and then if you don't comply, they stalk and threaten you. It's sick and I can't believe people still support Tom Cruise. People, please research Scientology. Then you will know what they do. It's scary. DO NOT GIVE TOM CRUISE SUPPORT.

I will NOT be watching this show either ... as I am sure so many other people are thinking the same thing just not saying it. Sorry Oprah, love your show and inspired by so much of what you do and stand for, but this is a big mistake! Tom Cruise makes my stomach turn ... there is nothing about him or his family I'm interested in seeing. Having him on your show, again, is a big mistake!

I am just bumping this up because it is important for people to educate themselves on the human abuse perpetuated by Scientology.

Thank you. People need to know what goes on. The human rights violations should have people up in arms. I suppose because so many celebrities are involved, people don't feel the need to really look into it. I know they would be shocked. Scientology is very dangerous and very scary. People need to know.

I think I'll watch the show. I still think that Tom's sexy. I'm his peer (45). I still remember all of the hoopla over his coming and staying in my area of Dallas, Texas (Highland Park/University Park) while filming _Born_on_the_Fourth_of_July_. The news said something about him every single day during that time. I don't have the money to be able to afford to fly to Chicago or stay in hotels or to buy tickets for the show or anything like that. But, inspite of Tom's religion, I still like him. I'd go to the movies and see his movies if I had the money to spend on movies with, but I don't have that. I just have the money for me, my cats, my car, my apartment, and I can barely afford the extra expenditure of my CCF child, but I try to do so anyways. But, oh, well. I can afford to stay here and watch the show when Tom Cruise comes on it and catch up on what's going on in his life that way. So, I will do so.

So you would support Tom Cruise whose religion is harmful to others? Where is your integrity? Scientology brainwashes, forces abortions, separates families, enforces child slave labor, locks up people, threatens those that want to leave or those who disagree with them, and makes people pay. If you support Tom Cruise than you support all these things because Cruise said that if you want to know who he is, he is a scientologist.

Hi you guys. I am new here but just posted a thread on this same topic. I am glad to see that there are other viewers out there who are offended by the idea of Oprah hosting Tom Cruise specifically because of how evil Scientology is.

Compare the pre-Scientology Katie Holmes to the version we have now. That church probably makes her spend so much time auditing out her thetans she looks like she's aged 20 years in three years.

Three years ago the average person didn't pay much attention to Scientology. Now, thanks to Tom, we know what an evil, money-hungry group they are. Oprah should NOT give Tom Cruise any more publicity.

Also, Scientologists followed peaceful protesters to their cars and took down the vin numbers.

And some Catholic priests abused boys. And some Muslims blew others up. Whose to say 1 religion is good or not? It's all in the eye of the beholder.

I'm not a scientologist and don't follow a religion... but get a grip. He's not going on there to enlist others in Scientology. And following someone's career or just being interested in what they're doing or have to say is NOT the same as supporting their religion. Nor can you be absolutely certain Tom supports every aspect of his religion.

There are some in this world who can make the separation between a person and their religion... Oprah is obviously one of those else he wouldn't be going on there.

I am so excited about seeing Tom Cruise on your show again - both dates. It made me so angry with all the rotten publicity he got for dispalying such unbridled joy and enthusiasm over his love for Katie. I absolutely LOVED what he did!!!! I wish we saw more displays of such utter joy and happiness. I believe, unfortunately, all the negative, the jokes, etc., that came out after that says more about those people and their unhappy little world. Oprah, I am so looking forward to this amazing, caring, loving father and husband - that is my view of him.

I agree with you, Lynn. I hope that people won't be rude and boo him when he goes on stage there. That'll be sad. I think that they need to add Brooke Shields to the show to show how she's forgiven him. Maybe others will forgive him then too. I've never taken any offense of that episode myself. I loved it also and thought that the whole thing would just blow over when I found out what a ruccus it caused, but it has not done so, has it? And I don't really know why people think it is so bad when people get emotional. I think it is a good thing. Just as long as people aren't so ruled by them that it is dangerous. Like being to scared to kill the dangerous insect one's self. That's fear that's in control over you.

Before recently, I had never heard of Jason Beghe. Before today, I didn't even know who he was. I may or may not have seen some of the stuff he was in, but in my book, he isn't famous. I have looked at what I could find by following some of your links that are found on this page. Right now I'm on information overload and I need to take a break from reading and commenting on these messages on these boards. You have a right to your opinion and I have a right to my opinion. I can still respect you, Jason, and Mr. Tom Cruise, irregardless, but I do need to take a break from all of this right now.

I was born in 1962 and when I went to school, I repeated kindergarten, and entered the first grade when I was 7 years of age. My teacher, Mrs. Taylor, had my parents take me to Shriner Hospital for testing and they diagnosed me with learning disabilities at that time. I had been going to private school in kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade, and they sent me to a special private school for kids with learning disabilities for the next two years, and then I went into public schools, and I had to repeat the third grade that year. I was 10. That year, they had a magician come do a show for the school and I was picked to go on stage and I made a fool of myself and I received ridicule for it for a number of years afterwards. I don't hear about it from anyone anymore, but I do know what it is like to be in Tom's shoes and I empathize with him. That's just the way it is.

Add me to the list of people that are dissapointed and offended by this. I fully support religious freedom - everyone is entitled to believe whatever they want - but Tom Cruise crossed the line when he began very publicly and fanatically to promote Scientology. If you think that Scientology is just a wacky but harmless religion then you very clearly have NOT done any research. This is a dangerous cult with a long list of fully documented crimes, illegal activities and human rights violations. Tom Cruise cannot be seen as separate from Scientology. He is Scientology's most vocal and ardent advocate. So when Oprah has Tom Cruise on her show and gives him a public forum and special star treatment she is lending her support to Scientology. Scientology is headed for a fall. It's despicable activities are being exposed as more and more ex-scientologists start speaking out. Oprah is foolish to get involved in any way with this even if it is only through association. My only hope is that Oprah will someday do a show interviewing ex-scientologists and exposing the cult.
