This book is making me a better Christian!!!
Apr 22, 2008 4:33 PM
Oprah, Oprah, Oprah,
My Faith was strong, but now it is growing stronger and stronger every day. The words of the Bible are just jumping out at me, how could I have not seen them so clearly before? Like be still and know that I am... I will not leave you alone...I will always be with you...
This book has put into words what I have always felt from within. As a Catholic, I can describe my faith very simply, it is based on the Holy Trinity, which is..." In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit". That's it in a nutshell. The rest of the Bible is just the history lesson as to how all that came about.
To say it another way, God Created the World, saw what a mess we were making..... sent his Son down to teach us how to live...then Jesus said when he knew he was going to have to leave us, "I will ask my Father, and he will give you another Advocate(The Holy Spirit) to be with you always, the Spirit of Truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows it, because it remains in you, and will be in you" John 14:16
And here it is again, John 14:26-27 "The Holy Spirit, that the Father will send in my name will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have told you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid."
And you know what Oprah? I got it this time when I read it. I really got it. People wouldn't be so afraid, if they only knew that the energy flowing through their very being, which I choose to call the "Holy Spirit" is the most fabulous "Wireless Connection" to the most powerful source in the Universe, the God that created us!!!!
May God Bless you and keep you safe in His Grace, you are truly one of his messengers of love.

Hi Carlene, You are the first person that I have ever been on a message board with. Thank you for your reply it meant a lot to me. I just loved all the classes, they have made me a better person. I don't want them to end. I hope Oprah puts them all out on a CD so I can give them to my friends.
God Bless,
Joanie

Thank you, Joanie, for posting this subject. I fully plan to take my "awakened" understanding with me while I read my Bible for the *many-eth* time. Like you, I thought I really had pretty good comprehension of how to live as a good Christian. However, the parables that Jesus uses to instruct us how we are to live have always been a frustration for me to clearly understand. Now, I believe I can go back and use Eckhart's method of deciphering them to gain nearly perfect comprehension of their meanings! The Holy Spirit is within each of us...we only have to be "still" and allow It to speak more lclearly than our own egoic noise.
May you enjoy Good Health, Happiness, Harmony and Peace,
OmiBea

button20, Thank you so much! It is so refreshing to see a Christian backing this book. I guess I am a Christian too. I believe in God and Jesus just not in the way that most believers do. I was hurt by emails I recceived form Christian friends warning me about Oprah and this book. I soon found in chpater 5 that it was just my ego and my pain body, lol I am so happy now that I can be free of hurt feelings when someone has a different opinion about something I care so deeply about. Thank you for your insight and the love you show for everyone in being a true Christian. BTW, I think it's funny. One of the emails I received wa from a Joanne that also lives in Long Beach where I grew up. :0)
Peace, Lynnette

I too, enjoyed reading your thread.
This is weird...I have been just jumping around on this message board. Just occasionally. Reading here and there. I replied to a post last night. Guess who wrote it? carlenej96....I assume it is the same carlene that replied to your post.
I believe carlenej96 commented on wanting to be with others that are awakened. With the thousands and thousands of people on here, I doubt for a moment it is accidental we have "bumped" into each other for a second time.
In my post earlier, I was requesting some ideas on how to approach my christian friend about A new earth. She is trying to fix me for taking a dangerous path away from the true meanings of the bible.
button, I would love if you could give me a couple other bible passages that are in balance with what Eckhart is teaching us.
You know, to have a comparrison. I truly beileve that Eckhart is not trying to sway people away from the teachings of the bible, but to provide a compliment to the bible's teachings. I have very little knowledge of the bible, (well some years ago,) and may be off track here but my take on the whole situation is that the bible has been misinterpeted over the years, and Eckhart is bringing a new understanding to what has already been said.
Is this correct?
I think the reason my firend is so concerned is because she knew I accepted Christ into my life years ago. She and I fell out of touch many years ago. and, also I fell out of touch with Christ. She just recently searched for me and found me. All around the same time I discovered A new earth, Eckhart and Oprah's webcast.
Many things have come together at the same time, and I am searching for some peace within. My brother died in January at the age of 39. It was weird to me, (before starting to read a new earth) that I was at peace with his death. I, or should I say my ego, figured I should be far more upset.
I'm going off track here, but really want to say, All is coming into my life at a welcomed time. I am just going with it. As for my friend, I too think she has appeared back into my life at the perfect time. For whatever reason...
I would love if you could take the time to provide me with a few scripture references. I will do some homework, and be preparemyself for some interesteing conversations with her.
I appreciate ti
Love and Peace

Button20 this is awesome!!! For me also ANE has brought light to all the biblical standards I have "tried" to understand for years. Baptized very young I always tried to understand why I was believing what I was believing. Now I understand what those beliefs really mean and what real purpose they have and how I can ACTUALLY put them to work more efficently. Instead of playing the role of christian, which I feel I was doing at times. Not always, but I think I and so many do slip into autopilot as christians and play the part because we are afraid to just BE. We think because we are christian we need to DO this and DO that. Please others or ACT good. Now, I have learned throught this book that I can just BE and just being present in any situation can change others, help others, or as Eckhart says "Become an alchemist. Transmute base metal into gold, suffering into consciousiness, disaster into enlightment" Just by being conscious, aware while with others we can do just that.
Really loved your post. Great, great, great!!

Hi Fellow Catholic Christian. After Reading your post and how excited you were to the awakening of the scripture John 14-16. I'm Interested to hear your reflections on the Eucharistic Discourse of John 6. The Tridentine is making a comeback ,how great will that be! I'm glad your faith is alive in The Holy Spirit, He will lead You To All Truth. Aren't we blessed to have such a Marvelous Church! Blessings.M7

I had to look up your post Joanie after Oprah quoted it because I could not write fast enough as she said it and I think what you point to makes so much sense and I am sharing it with some Catholic friends and family who are reading the book too.
Thank You!
