Diana, review again that portion of the video where Oprah stated that if the religion you follow relies upon intellect and not feelings, than it is a false religion. Think about it. Think, don't "feel" your way through it. There are many times when you cannot rely upon feelings, but instead upon what you know, deep down, is right. When you were a child, you did not "feel" like taking medicine, perhaps, but your parents knew that you needed it. (You can substitute other examples, of course.) Put Echart aside and take a look at the Bible. You won't feel like following the Commandments and the teachings of Christ, but you know intellectually that it is right. It is really not about you, it's about being obedient to God. We may not feel like it, but we know...
Hmmm, really? How odd. I'm choosing to avoid the religious conversations in here because they aren't my cup of tea, but I'm not really surprised by this, dwhite. Personally, I just don't feel that my values or beliefs are in any way threatened by awakening to my true self. In truth, I'm having quite the opposite experience! Cheers. Reading Eckhart's book is one of a number of experiences I had that have helped me along the way. ![]()
Good work Oprah. Thanks Eckhart!
The video is propaganda. Its shows certain segments and omits others. The video is designed to induce fear into the minds of the watchers and is the main reason there is so many anti Tolle posts on the website. It is a shinging example of control and ego.One could say its the collective pain body at its best.Fear and ignorance are powerful combos to those who believe in them.
Thanks for the reply, I have learned so much from reading the book and I attend mass every week. I feel even closer to God when I attend now because I am present and so much more in touch with God and love. Thanks Diana
I think the light coming from Eckhart's teachings and from Oprah's championing of him has a lot of people scurrying like cockroaches. Beam on little light - beam on through the darkness. Timeflyer
Funny... it's only the Christians that feel somehow threatened by the idea that living in the present moment might be worthwhile.
And that a book might lose them their special place in heaven.
Insecure I'd say.
yup ... many others have posted about this also ... (beginning about two weeks ago)
I consider myself fortunate to not be on those mailing lists ...
actually ... there is a lot of cool stuff here on the site (study questions, videos, other speakers for ANE) ...
thanks for posting ...
timeflyer2 - Yep, they scurry like cockroaches from the light or they come on these message boards and thump their bibles. I think they do protest too much (apologies to Shakespeare.) ![]()
susan , you know that this is a religion of self when you say that someone who loves the claims of Jesus Christ, and His sacrifice for all of us, Jesus claims of being our Redeemer, of loving each one of us, and asking us to believe in His death and resurrection, as a cockroach running from the light. You, my dear are the one who showed your true colors. And they came shining through. The video is accurate. It quoted from the book. It showed the teachings. It is a book claiming that you are already god, since you were born. Not needing any God. Not believing any Jesus, and His sacrifice. Believing that your thoughts, control the world, and your thoughts, are better than Jesus, and his words. His claims are false to you. You are enough, and someday, you will be able to tell Him so. just like the story of the Tower of Babel. The world decided to build a tower and storm into heaven, and take it away from God. Now we have a new religion, that is trying that theory again.
This is an interesting post.I have a quick view I would like to share. It seems that any significant event in history that really changed the world was met with alot of resistence.Change can be frightening to many people because the fear of the unknown(what will happen when/if it changes),or the fear of losing the known(what were used to) seem to be rooted into our conditioning. This info which has been around for awhile has never before been presented to the world before at this magnitude. There really is a change thats taking place right now that HUGE in the spiritual sense, which can be hidden in the worldly sense.Tolles word "The pain body",which he descibes as the emotional aspect of the ego, applys here if you look at it.A change like this is a threat to established belief systems because now there is the danger that the beliefs, which aren't rooted in reality at all,may be exposed for what they are"thought forms."Just ideas. The pain body(I'm using Tolles word)can only live on thought forms/Ideas or otherwise it wouldn't exist.I'm not trying to cause more fear here.Theres nothing to fear. Its very interesting when you look at it a little deeper.I try not to oppose any heavy egos and treat all as friends.Love wipes away all insanity and illusions.I'm very grateful for this event and hope everyone has a safe, peacful journney into discovering themselves.
Peace
daveysgirl - I didn't they are cockroaches, I said like cockroachers. As for the video, it's quite simply ridiculous. ANE is not a religion but not having read it, you wouldn't know that.
I think the fundamentalist Christians who are sending out these emails and putting the videos out there on Youtube are actually to be congratulated. They're helping to promote ANE. Abeit, they're rhetoric is pretty ugly at times. Still....everyone knows how people are regarding gossip or anything negative. We just gotta know more about it. If someone tells you not to read it....what are you gonna do? YOU READ IT of course! Just look at how we respond to negative posts around here. It's a given that most of the fundamentalists out there are going to hate the book no matter what. They're not going to read it and give it a chance EVER! But aahhhh little grasshoppers, in the fanatism theyforget....70% of the world is still non-Christian. And a good percentage of that 70% is gonna be reading those emails and watching those videos, if only to satisfy their curiosity about the book. Many...maybe even millions more of the curious-minded are going to be awakened to the books message. And just THINK it will have come about as the result of a fundamentalist telling them not to. Isn't that ironic? If that ain't saving souls....I don't know what is. So rest well...all you ANE folks. And to all the fundamentalists on here and out there..you're doing a great job promoting "A New Earth!" Keep on with God's work.
