Big deal. Nothing against Halle personally, but she is not the first nor the last woman to have a baby. My thing is, since we are supposed to be educating our young ladies (and men) about having children out of wedlock, why all this celebration of babies being conceived out of wedlock amongst the celebrities? Yes, maybe they can afford it, etc... but come on now it takes more than that...let's not ride both sides of the fence when we are supposed to be giving a different message to our youth. Breaking up marriages/pregnancies, unprotected sex, single parenthood, sex without committment, and many more considerations. Where are the values and morals?

I totally agree. Halle is cool, but why is America celebrating because this chick is having a baby? I just hope she's a good mom and she realizes that babies should not be born with resposibilites-making her feel loved.

I don't know Halle Berry's entire story but it sounds like having a baby has been an ongoing issue for her. I have been trying to conceive for quite a while now and having endured two miscarriages, I know how the longing and desire to be a mother can become overwhelming. The fact that she is 41-years old and has a successful career, and yes that she can provide for herself and her child, does not send a "mixed message" to our youth. It's not like she is 16-years old and saying, "Yes, it's okay to have children out of wedlock at an early age!" She has lived life, is mature enough to make these types of decisions, and does not need to turn to someone else to support her. Until you have walked in her shoes and truly experienced her experiences, no one is in the position to judge her. I am happy for the mom-to-be and wish her all the best.

i think arberger is right on, i'm tired of seeing/hearing the congrats of hollywood and others on having babies out of wedlock. when did it become alright??? i have nothing against halle berry as an actor, but hollywood needs a kick in the butt, at least matt damon and his girlfriend at the time went straight to the court house and got married, did not wait until baby was born or have a big hollywood wedding, they did it the right way. and don't get me wrong it doesnt just happen in hollywood, but it's so out in the open and girls/guys now a days see it being celebrated and don't think it's wrong to throw the party for the birth, but don't make plans prior for the wedding or better yet adopting out the baby to a mother/father , kids and grownups now a days don't think anything of living together without marriage and having babies out of marriage. and oprah is wrong for allowing it on her show. other than dr oz I' don't watch like I use to, she's changed the shows alot

Who cares or maybe the father should Halle has been unstable in her life just like Brit. She did leave the scene of an accident, she was drunk, and then to top it off she played crazy (i guess she was playing crazy Davis Justice said she was crazy during their marriage}to dodge the charges., She has been in one bad relationship after the other, and making a big deal out of another child out of wedlock ,rather rich or on welfare is morally wrong.

HOW DARE OPRAH HAVE A SHOW ABOUT ART SMITH OPENING A RESTAURANT!!???!! *righteous caps of indignation and doom* And he has the gall to think he can share a secret recipe.

I for one will never watch Oprah again. She has stooped way to low in my estimation for daring to put on such a display that would offend anyone with decent morals and values. Obviously she has none to be putting this evil show on the air.

Come on, folks, you're opening yourself to it. Get a grip.

I just have to sit back and laugh when I read these angry responses shaming Halle for having a baby when she isn't married. Marriage isn't a necessary stepping stone in life needed to raise a healthy family. Do you realize how many f'd up kids are in the world now b/c of people who felt pressure by their peers and sociaty to get married and then later divorced? (There was an episode just last week on kids of divorce...) If it is something the child is aware of at an early age... then it is normal to them. And who frickin cares what order it happens in. Its not like her child is going to go to school and be the only one born out of wedlock and be called the bastard child by anyone but the judgemental parents of an older generation who has nothing else to do but criticize the people who did what was right for them. I suppose you have the same mindset that people who don't show up to church every Sunday are going to hell... or dont religiously practice their baptised faith. Get over your uniform idealistic lifestyle... quit placing judgement on other people that don't effect you personally... and live your life. Congrats to all those who are fortunate enough to have found their lifelong companion, and have stuck through a rocky relationship. Women have come a long way by becoming more financially independent, holding higher postions in better paying jobs, running for PRESIDENT and two incomes isnt as necessary as before. So realize that times are changing. You guys sound like my grandparents did when they complained about latest music and fashion trends tattoos and peircings. Gender roles are no longer defined. THey are very simplified... women bear the children... and men are the sperm donors. And if a suitable male comes along that is willing to make a lifelong commitment to being a father...till death do us part... blah blah blah so be it. But what does a marriage license actually prove anyhow? That you can stand under God, give your vows, and 10 years later divorce them? Why even bother?

12. We get it, Oprah hates marriage!

Today's show is nothing more than another in a series of Oprah shows that demean traditional marriage.
We get if Oprah, you don't like marriage and you will celebrate any and all others that don't like it with you.
I am getting tired of these twice weekly hour long rippings of marriage.
She has and looks like she never will have couples on in lasting happy marriages and the benefits of it.
Oprah sucks!

I agree with the other's on, why are we celebrating her having a baby. Jayz23, you say who cares, well the most important person in the world, God he cares. We are supposed to be married before having children, have you heard of that before. Anyone can have a baby, but not everyone can be a mom, and like the other's said, I hope she can be a good mother to this baby, if it is God's will that it is carried out.

Amen to your post !!! Halle Berry looked more serene and beautiful than I have even seen her, and for one so drop dead physically beautiful this probably means that she is on to something that makes her spirit happy. If there is anything good in us we should be happy for her and the fact that she made the choice about this baby. All the crowd here trying to post that a financially secure maturing( because we should forever be striving towards becoming better each day) woman who is in the best place to carry and nurture a precious life should not fool anyone, for the case they strive to make based on Biblical admonitions is based on nothing other than cultural practices that male dominated societies tried to attribute to the intentions of a Holy God who loves life that comes from the wombs of women; regardless of the daddy status. Holy God even used the "bastard" children of many women, including the one conceived out of wedlock by a teenaged Mary from the line of David and that "bastard" child rocked the world. To the poster who wished to use the words of one of Halle's malcontented exes to convict her; oh please if I had a run in with her exes I would be altar shy too ! Have we ever heard nay an ill peep about Halle from those who work with her? Blessings to Halle, that man who loves her, and their baby.

Re: NOTAFAN10 It's obvious from reading your entry that you have issue with anger....anger management may help though I sense that your rage is way beyond help. Try a workout routine though and get some of your aggression out. Halle's not a family member or a friend to you nor someone you even know, you should not have that much emotional involvement, negative ones at that. I wish you and all the other misguided strangers venting over a woman's pregnancy with such hatred, well because even you need compassion.
