I agree with you. It is shameful for Obama and Michelle to still be the race. No one should be behind Obama and his hate. Not in America and definately not during war.

ditto PP...excellent and very well thought out post.
I just dont see how Sen. Obama can spin himself out of this. These hateful rhetoric that his pastor have been espousing are just too shocking! Something I just cannot turn a blindeye on. I certainly do not want a man that has been listening to this for over twenty years to be MY LEADER. Not any more!! SAD!

Just another sign that the system is screwed, and Obama is the wrong man (I DID like him before him disassociated himself from his Rev). His mentor was right; it's a little unfair to say that Barack doesn't have the balls to agree--if he DOES, he's through. Sorry, I am a moderate Midwesterner, but I ain't no rube, and I am well read in right-wing, mainstream, and left-wing polit-lit, and guess what? Reverend Wright's message is solid. Too bad we aren't the kind of country that can hold ourselves accountable, admit mistakes, tweak the system, and LEAD the world again. When even the ministers start pointing this out--their usual message is to shut up, be good, and support President Christ--you know we have some issues to attend to.
We aren't Stalin's Russia, Hitler's Germany, Amin's Uganda...not close. But just NOT being that bad is not GOOD enough; we have to be great, shining, moral--not a country that's basically an oversized credit-card company that moonlights as bushwhacking, bloodsucking bullies.
Take your blinders off.

"Reverend Wright's message is solid." ? You've got to be kidding if you think that this man's hate mongering message is anything but solid! Insanity is closer to it. Was he "solid" in suggesting that the U.S. Government played a role in spreading the AIDS virus in the black community as a means of genocide? That we deserved 9/11? Was he "solid" when he awarded the divisive and hateful Louis Farrakhan the "Dr. Jeremiah A Wright Jr Trumpeter award" and espoused that Farrakhan "truly epitomized greatness"? Pointing out America's mistakes is one thing, but blaming America and perpetrating a black seperatist message by vilifying whites is hurtful to us all. If you don't see anything wrong with Wright's message then I will suggest your "blinders" are securly in place.

Very well written ! God made us ALL , black, white, brown, and all colors in between and around ! We were one after 9-11 and most of us still are. I know in my heart that there are more of us that feel this way. I'm saddened by Obama and how he has turned out. I will never vote for him. Never trusted Hillary. Democrats gave us a poor choice as it turned out.

It saddens me, as a Barack Obama supporter, to see him be less than honest with the American people. The message of "Change" that I believed in, appears to be morphing into "Change the Subject". Barack Obama attended the Trinity Church for more than a decade, he was baptized and married by Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr (Obama and the Reverend have been friends for 20 years). He had his daughters baptized by the man he calls his "mentor". Obama has donated more than $20,000 to Rev. Wright's church. Barack Obama has admitted that he listened to the taped sermons of Rev. Wright. It is illogical to believe, as Barack Obama has asked us to, that Obama was unaware of Rev. Wright's hate speech. Barack Obama wants us to believe that his "mentor's" speeches were "cherry-picked". Obama reassures us that Rev. Wright is a former U.S. Marine. Obama informs us that Rev. Wright is a "biblical scholar" etc, as if any of these achievements could explain away the Reverend's words. Rev. Wright is a racist and a bigot. Plain and simple. Unfortunately Barack Obama is tied to his "mentor" at the hip.
Michelle Obama's comments on being "proud" in her "adult life" (now that her husband was beginning to win primaries) and her reference to American's as "mean" always gave me some pause. I excused these words away as momentary lapses in judgment and/or slips of the tongue. Campaigning must be an arduous experience and, I imagine, it's easy to say something wrong or not define oneself with the words one might have intended on using. But, I now see that Michelle Obama may just be the unfortunate reflection of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr's "sermons".
As a Latina-American, I give thanks to America for giving me a chance to grow and to raise my family. On the days after 9/11 we ALL wept and tried to console one another because we had ALL been attacked. America had ceased to be black, white, brown or any other color. It ceased being liberal, conservative, democrat or republican. We were all one. Or so we thought. In our midst, there were men and women who were cheering and applauding the deaths of our brothers and sisters; stirred on by the fiery words of a hate-monger, a man who had no shame in using his "pulpit" to plant the seeds of discord. I am ashamed for Rev. Wright and I am ashamed for the members of his congregation who stayed in that church and continued to listen to what the "Reverend" had to say.
On the issue of voting for and supporting the candidacy of Senator Barack Obama, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright Jr. is at least SPOT ON in one sentence in the litany of his incendiary speeches: "The chickens HAVE come home to roost". I can no longer support Barack Obama. I have switched my support and my donations to Senator Hillary Clinton, and if she fails to get the nomination, I will vote for John McCain.
