for the "Confused Christian" please read!

Posted on Mar 6, 2008 10:23 PM

The "New Earth" is not ment to be a "companion" book to use with the Bible! It is a book about "spirituality" with your inner being *your ego".
The "Jesus" in the new earth, is not the Jesus in the Bible. The "I" in the new earth, is not the "I AM" in the Bible (God), it is you.
Please don't get them confused. If you have a "problem" with this, and you truly are a Christian, I suggest you don't read this book as it will conflict with your "true" beliefs.

Tolle admited Monday that he had to "drop acid" to get "into" the spirituality to write this book. What an aughhhh moment for him it must have been. He is no where close to the antichrist. He's just someone using parts of other spiritual teachings and filling in the gaps between his nervous breakdowns and acid moments, making a living out of people seaching for a higher meaning in the life.

i agree if anything he shows us that we can be just as enlightened as Jesus was and that we are no different - just like we can look up to Jesus we can also look up to our selves and look into ourselves. for years and years the bible was meant to control and that is why so many people are lost and are looking for God - LOOK IN THE MIRROR.

and believe it

I have listened to ANE on cd almost twenty times while I drive since it came out. Eckhart is telling us that, from his perspective, humanity does not need to live with worry, anger, anxiety and depression, and we can have a clear connection with God and have an enhanced religious experience with our religion of choice. Why would anyone question a book that says that. I don’t get it.

He is talking about overcoming chronic thinking. Not shutting down the mind, but having the ability to think what you want. For example if someone is worrying, are they worrying because they want to worry or because they can't help the thinking that is worrying. With a clear mind, without the static of the chattering mind, you can see your existing religion with more clarity. A clear mind is like getting rid of your old TV from the 60's with limited reception and replacing it with a crystal clear HDTV. You can still watch the Christian channel on your new TV, the picture is just clearer than you have ever seen.

Another way to put it, if you where talking to God on the phone would you prefer a connection noise and static, or a clear one? Who would choose a connection with God that is not clear if they knew how to have a clear connection. This is all Eckhart is saying, "Be still, allow your mind to clear and see what happens". The mind is like a spinning top, it gradually slows down.

He has mentioned more than once that he doesn't want to give the reader something to believe in. He has no desire to start a religion or be worshipped. He has never said any religion is right or wrong. I am sure that anyone questioning the book is well intentioned, but it makes me wonder if they have read it.

is that so?

lol ... this is a blatant lie ... Tolle did not take acid to write his book ... he disclosed that he tried acid once because friends indicated it was similar to increasing Consciousness ... he did not have to take acid to write the book ...

wow ... good luck selling that one with recorded live video proving otherwise for the entire world to see ...

it is just amazing to me how far people are going to try to spread untruths about ANE and Tolle ...

Please excuse me, I got the information off of a thread on this website as I did actually waste my time to watch it myself. I'm still "confused", why didn't his "ego" stop him from dropping that acid? seems you have all the answers, please "enlighten" me....Peace, love, no pain, etc., etc., etc. By the way, did he mention the FACT about his recent nervous breakdown? That is NOT a lie. It is in a biography that I read on a website with his picture. Sounds like a "wonderful" person to take "spiritual" advise from....more peace and more love....

The breakdown that you mentioned was most likely the time he talks about when he was 29 and his ego collapsed from intense mental suffering. That was the beginning of his awakening.

This is amazing to me. I was baptised in the Frio River at a Church of Christ summer camp in Texas and am a "small town girl", and always felt churches in many traditional religions misinterpreted what Jesus was saying because what he spoke to might heart was crystal clear and was not was I always heard from the pulpit. So this is the truth that Jesus and many before him were trying to say. People open your hearts it is really pretty simple.

Realager: WOW! no wonder you and dangeranger need this book so much...you both have very "proud" ego's. I sure hope Eckhart helps you in that department! (l0l) oh yeah, peace, love, flower picking moments to you both!

I have yet to read any of Eckhart's book besides quotes from this message board. I caught the first webcast, and I was trying to learn what I could without the book. (for now...I have one on the way.)

My whole intention of coming on the message board was to gather an insight into what A New Earth was all about, and how I could have an awakening. I've felt a change within myself, and an excitement developing inside me. This is a bit confusing, and I wasn't expecting all this. I am unsure what's going on exactly. It's like something bigger is in store for me. I'm willing to allow this to happen. I was drawn to get involved, so here I am.

Getting back to thanking you. I was getting a slight insight into what the content of the book was about , but not quite enough for it to be clear to me until I read your post.

You put the jist of the book's purpose rather simply. I now "get it."

Now for another thought. I am absolutely amazed at some of the comments I have read during this...let's call it research..that I have been doing. I will mention comments in particularly from lindatanb. (And hundres of others.) I just don't understand the purpose for the negativity. You could almost call it badgering. I would think if a person wasn't wanting to be involved with the book, or add a positive comment, then just go away! Why are some people investing so much of their time if it's not for self improvement?
I do believe I was meant to get involved in this adventure. Reading all those negative things could have made me think twice before continuing. Thank goodness I didn't let all that other crap influence me.

Anyway, thanks again. I am looking forwards to the next session on Monday night. This really has stirred me.

Didn't Jesus say, "judge not lest ye be judged?" The Bible was writen by men, not Jesus. Jesus Loved and forgave everyone, cant you? I Love you, too.

Hi Betterbevy,

I'm glad I could help. I agree here is an amazing excitement building up in many people. It is great that you are feeling the shift before even reading the book. Each time I listen to it on CD I feel l can see a little bit further into the fog of unconsciousness.

As far as the negativity goes, later in the book Eckhart explains the disfunction of the ego in great depth ,the underlying reasons for negativity and anger. The need to argue, to defend a conceptual view of the world, to seek out conflict and to put down people who disagree are described in a way that I have never heard anywhere else. He introduces what he calls the pain body, a part of the ego that thrives on conflict and negativity. He is never judgmental and never says it is bad to be negative. The negativity in the forum could be viewed as a useful extension of Oprah's classroom where we can see the disfunction in action and use it to help us see the negativity in ourselves. Like the rest of the book, it rings true with me.

He also talks, in the book, about deeply accepting what happens. If your car is stolen you could accept it and move on or you could go over and over what happened in your head, telling yourself and everyone you meet that the world is full of bad people and on and on and on. The angry people in life and here on the forum could be seen as a gift we can use to practice acceptance. If someone in the forum says something negative in your direction become aware of the need to react to it. I see it as like a snow ball fight with balls of anger, you have the choice of catching the anger ball that the angry person is throwing and throwing it back or you could duck and let it go by. By not reacting, you diminish the anger energy between you and the angry person, they may eventually run out of ammo. By reacting and throwing back the anger ball you amplify their anger. Eckhard has mentioned that you can't argue with an enlightened person. I have had the opportunity to practice accepting an angry person in my life a few times with amazing results. One time, after dodging several anger balls directed at me the angry person seemed to wake up out of it. By dodging the anger and letting it dissipate it made it easier for the angry person to see what was going on and we ended up rolling on the floor with laughter for five minutes. After that the anger was completely gone.

Beside the anger in this forum there is also a lot of confusion about what is going on. Not only is the book full of new, exciting, deep ideas about the world, but there are many posts that make you wonder if the people posting are reading the same book or watching the same Oprah/Eckhart classroom video. I saw a post saying that “Eckhart was promoting Hitler's religion”. Not that there is anything wrong with saying that, but it does add to the confusion. The best place to look for facts about the book and the classroom is to watch and read and decide for yourself what you are seeing. By the end of the tenth class much of the confusion will dissipate as the fog lifts and the view of a new earth gets clearer and clearer. I recommend reading or listening to the book several times. Thank you Oprah and Eckhart!!!!!!
