Wow what a great show!!! She was so honest about the affairs, cocaine, depression! I was really impressed with Valerie! Oprah was so right when she said that Valerie is just like me and you. I'm going out to buy her book today! Coming from a family where my mother was a alcoholic and father fooled around on my mom their whole marriage I have so much respect for Valerie for taking a stand and ending every amiable with Eddy and showing their son what healthy relationships are. When my parents divorced they never spoke badly about each other to me and my brother and they both supported each other in their recoveries and they are better friends now then they ever were married and I respect and love them both for that so much and I see that same quality that Valerie is showing in the decisions she has made. I really loved the show today!
Thanks!

Just so totally love her.
I like to think that if I just used hot rollers and conditioned regularly then my hair would look like hers and I'd marry a rock star and live happily ever after...hee. Look how happy she seems now! Yay!
I am so UNimpressed with Valerie....She is just screaming for attention. Look at me, I am SOOOOO trendy--I kissed a women. And laughing about your bad behavior was so trendy too. Let me take a guess, Playboy is next? If this is how stupid people become when they lose weight, I'd rather be a size 10.
I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I'M VERY PROUD OF VALERIE, SHE HAS DONE SOMETHING I WISH I COULD DO BUT HAVEN'T DONE. I WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT BUT I CAN'T AFFORD ALL THOSE MEALS. I KNOW IT CAN BE VERY EXPESIVE AND I WISH I COULD LOSE AT LEAST 100 POUNDS. I WEIGH RIGHT NOW 210 POUNDS AND I WANT TO LOSE IT ALL. SO I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SHOW TODAY. I JUST WISH I COULD LOSE IT.
SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE GIRL I LOOK UP TO.SHE WAS THE GIRL I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE FRIENDS WITH. SHE WAS THE KIND AND SWEET PERSONS. SO THANK YOU.

I too appreciated Valerie's honesty. She said she wanted to change. She didn't as much seem proud of the things she told as she just wanted to clear the air to go in a completely new direction. She said she felt she had to tell everything in order to put it behind her and change. I think she's right. She's on her way now. My hat's off to her!

Valerie mentioned using something called a walkvest. It's a vest for walking that you add weight to it so that your body, as she says, is tricked into thinking you weigh more than you do, so it burns more calories.

Thank you Valerie! Being 48 and having grown up with Valerie on TV and having GROWN up during the same time period, I definitely related to Valerie. Most of us during that time frame also made mistakes and took wrong turns so it was refreshing to hear her be so candid about the ones she's been through. And even more refreshing was seeing what type woman she has become and wants to become. I agreed wholeheartedly about her comments about how "stupid" we were as 20 somethings!
I've always liked you, Valerie! Thank you so much for being so honest about your life and the times you've gone through... It's an inspiration to me. I hope I can turn things around like you seem to have done in your life. Thanks for being the strong and courageous person you are... I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been touched by your story...
Best of luck to you in the future!
God bless you & yours,
Cookie
I loved today's show. I will be going to buy this book tomorrow. After hearing Valerie talk about her past with drugs, the weight issue and everything else....I can totally relate to her. I am a 39 year old divorced mother of 3 teenage sons. I have a past filled with drug use. I have been off the drugs several years now, but I have become a hermit. Rarely leaving the house now except to work. I have gained 50 pounds in the past 4 years and I have been divorced for 4 years as well. This show and Valerie Bertinelli are an inspiration to me. I believe today was my turn around point after seeing this show.
Thank you!
Wow, what a breath of fresh air listening to Valerie Bertinelli! I am a 50-year-old woman and, honestly, One Day At A Time was one of my all-time favorite shows "back in the day"! I could go on and on, but I'd just repeat myself by saying I loved the show. Ask me why, and I doubt I could give you any reasons - other than, I just loved it. It was one of those "feel good" shows, I guess. Isn't that enough reason? Anyway, I couldn't resist making use of this wonderful medium to say "thanks so much" to Valerie for having the courage to bare her soul to us. She is a glimmer of hope at the end of a long, dreary tunnel for so many. I was so touched to see her so humbled and appreciative of the extended and heart-felt applause she received at the beginning of the show. It's almost as if she felt she didn't deserve it, which we know she DOES! And I'm thinking Valerie's book might just be an excellent read for me, as soon as I get through "A New Earth", which I just received in the mail today and need to read for Oprah's class. I am in dire need of some soul searching, and what two better places to start - with Oprah and one of my favorite actresses. With heartfelt appreciation and sincere wishes for only the best for Valerie and her family.

Yah, it's too expensive for me too. Did you watch Barbara Walter's special last night with Vanessa Williams. She said she has a trainer on the East Coast and the West coast and also a Yoga instructor that comes to her house. She also has meals delivered to her so she doesn't consume extra calories. I think I could lose the weight if I had healthy food always available and didn't have to prepare it. I just love Valerie Bertinelli. She seems to be very open and honest. Have you tried losing weight before?

You don't need to go to Jenny Craig to lose weight. Don't use this as another excuse. If you REALLY want to go from 210 to 130 or wherever, you know what the "secret" is. You cannot keep eating as you usually do. And you have to start moving a little more. You can do it.
