Every week, millions watch the Gosselin family get up, get dressed and get dinner on the table. But this is no ordinary family…the Gosselins are raising twins and sextuplets! Now, Jonathan and Kate Gosselin are here with their eight children to reveal how they do it all! What it took to get the entire family to Chicago, their organization tips and how Kate manages to get a family of 10 to sit down to dinner! Then, P. Diddy himself, Sean Combs, on his new film A Raisin In The Sun. Plus, his phenomenal co-star Phylicia Rashad!
I am not a fan of "reality" TV. I find almost all of it idiotic, cheap, and frankly, embarassing. Reality TV is a glimpse into what is wrong with our culture. But I got hooked last year with the story of this family. I never miss a new episode and love Gosslin show marathons. The "reality" is the honesty with which this family deals with the stresses amid the joys of their day to day life. It never panders or uses the children as pawns. It never glosses over what is hard or tiring, or both. But most importantly, this couple offers the public not only insight into the raising of a large, boisterous "gaggle" of children, but also an honest protrayal of real married life. Even without eight children, it is hard work, takes effort and requires the best we have to give it. That they are deeply committed to their realationship as well as their children, shines thru the quips and jabs that sometimes make me laugh out loud. It is a priviledge to be invited into their home. I hope those of us who watch, (Oh my God!!! I'm hooked on a REALITY show???) honor the people they are and treat them, the twins and "the little kids" with the respect they deserve. Cudos to the production team. Brilliantly done!!! Sincerely, Deborah Quam, VA. Beach, VA
Dear Oprah,
I am so glad you are finally having the Gosselin's on your show. I am the proud mother of a 16 year old and 11 year old triplet girls. My children and I watch Jon & Kate Plus 8 religiously. I think Jon and Kate should be commended on the wonderful job they are doing with their children. Whenever I feel overwhelmed with my four girls, I think of Kate and how she makes raising 8 kids look so effortless. I can't wait till Friday.
I am hooked on watching Jon & Kate plus 8 too. I am one of 6 children myself, yet I only have one child of my own and I tune it to get a dose of a big family. I miss the madness and I am so happy
to see a real family with real life problems and daily struggles portrayed on tv. Can't wait to see them on Friday's show.... thanks for having them on!
Oprah, when I saw that Jon, Kate, Mady, Cara, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Collin, and Aaden were going to be on Friday's show...it made my day!! I love their show so much, and I never miss an episode. I watch the marathons over and over, its sad to say but I plan my week out so that I have no interruptions during the new episode. Someone invited me out to dinner last Monday night and I turned them down. I told them I had to catch up on some grading, but I just didn't want miss Jon and Kate plus 8!
Even my husband, who is so anti-reality (or basically any show I like)...watches the show with me. He acts like he doesn't care, but each and every time its on, he magically appears in our bedroom to watch! I adore their family and although I don't have any kids (yet), I try to pick up some pointers from them. My husband is a bit scared that I love those kids so much, b/c I have mentioned to him how fun I thought it would be....he's none to thrilled about the prospect of having eight children, well...actually not even 3!!! Madilyn is my favorite b/c if you pulled out an old video of me as a child, you would think it was her!! I was also (still am on occassion) a bonafide drama queen. You tell her that is a-okay to be who she is and SOME people appreciate a person who is so passionate about life!! I love them all and I am so thrilled you are having them on the show. Just the other day I thought about emailing you about having them on as a show idea, but I guess you beat me to the punch!! That's what I LOVE ABOUT YOU!!
Yay! I love this show......I love this family! They are all so adorable--even the parents. Whenever I think my life is too crazy with work & outside interests ( I am single w/a shih tzu), I think of this family and think okay, I will just put on my big girl panties & deal with it. I cannot wait to hear how they handle all they have to do.
My oldest daughter got us hooked on "John and Kate plus eight". I am thoroughly amazed at what a wonderful job the Gosselins are doing. They are not perfect, they are human. That being said you can see the love they all share even amongst the babies. All the children are well disciplined and polite AND respectful. I've seen many families with only one or two children who could learn a lot from watching this show. It can't be easy opening your life up to the general public under the best of situations but these people do it with grace. Bless you all. Even we Canadians have fallen totally in love with you.
I try to watch Jon and Kate... from time to time, but honestly I just can't-it makes me tired! LOL!
I have 18 month old twins and a 3yo, ALL BOYS, and they drive me crazy, so I can't imagine how Jon and Kate must feel.
OMG! I am SO excited!!! I can't wait to see the Gosselins on Friday. I love thier family. Other than the fact that they have eight kids, twins and sextuplets, they are an ordinary family with ordinary flaws with lots of love and lots of stress. I can totally see myself through Kate and relate to the anxiety of trying to make order of a crazy home. Jon and Kate.....thank you for sharing your story with us all. Oprah Staff, Thank you for jumping through all the hoops to get the Gosselins to Chicago. I am so excited for Friday's show! Wish I could be there! Joyfully, Kyrsten!
This show is great! My 7 yo daughter and I love to watch it.
I admire the way Jon and Kate work together and I love even more when they snap at each other under the pressure (I mean- who WOULDN'T?!) I love that Jon....LOL! She got a good one there.
To whoever above wrote that she does nothing because she has someone who folds her clothes and bbsits sometimes...give me a break! I bet the poster doesn't have children (or not 8!) and I don't think you can judge til you walk in their shoes. It's called preserving your sanity.
I will say I miss the chaos of when the babies were two...as they grow they are getting easier (or so it appears to me) and I loved watching the chaos. ![]()
I am so excited that you are having Jon & Kate plus 8 on your show! I love watching it to the point that if my husband and I are watching tv together, he will skip the channel "just in case it is on" or he will walk out of the room if I am watching it. He doesn't understand! My 11 year old and I watch it all the time even if we've seen it before.
Through watching a marathon one day, Jon and Kate discussed their trip to California. They were invited to speak at a church in Fresno, CA. I was so upset to learn that they were just an hour away from where I lived. If I'd known they were in town, I would have found some way to get to that church to see them speak. Anyways...I can't wait until Friday's show!
I was also It was just like the feeling I had when I learned that Oprah had come to Merced, CA. to visit Christine McFadden in her home. Christine McFadden's ex-husband murdered her four children in her home on March 26, 2002. She has appeared on Oprah's show several times and Oprah featured a follow up show from her home in my home town. I was shocked to find out that Oprah was here!!! They did an EXCELLENT job of keeping that a secret. Even though I didn't get to meet/see Oprah, I was happy to know that Christine touched her heart (as she has to so many of us who live in the Merced/Atwater area) enough for her to come to her home. Since then, Christine has had twin girls! She continues to raise money for the MSSM Foundation aka the Friendship Scholarship she created in memory of her children Melanie, Stanley, Stuart, and Michelle.

I originally loved watching this show but now it seems to have gone the same way as " Little People Big World". At first it was interesting to watch how they managed and they did it very well. Now that the children are older, I almost feel sorry for them- especially on Christmas Day- who wants special family time to be filmed for all to see?
It bothers me that Kate stated she was amazed at how much viewers knew about their children- doesn't that seem a bit creepy? People get so caught up in these little children that they are sending them Christmas gifts and they ( Jon and Kate )are accepting them because they say- it is hard to stretch Christmas for 8 children. Yet they have been on way more adventures than many families have ie. Disney World, an upcoming " trip of a lifetime" which I believe is a ski trip.
Well, I have a large family too, and we are on one income and there is no money for gas, two cars, big home, trips, trips, trips and organic food to boot. My husband and I could save until the cows come home and not be able to afford a clothes shopping trip. I think they have sold their family out and it will come back to haunt them.
I too am a huge fan of the Gosselin Family. The children are so adorable and the parents are inspirational. Kate is always so put together and organized (and never looks like a shlumpadinka). I watch every show and the marathons too. The twins, Mady and Cara, are the same age as my daughter and I get great ideas from Kate regarding vacations, snacks, day trips, traditions and even gifts. I wish Kate would come out with a book. I think many parents who have resorted to lazy parenting could learn quite a bit from this family. They make stress look fun!
I watch this show all the time and can't get over how organized they are. After having three healthy boys then losing three pregnancy within the last year and a half, I begged my husband to let me try just one more time before my next birthday which is this February. I told him consider it my Christmas gift. Well, image our surprise when we got our first sonogram only to show we are having triplets!! We were not using any infertility meds so to conceive natural triplets is rare. It was a shock and a little scary considering I was already considered a high risk pregnancy. Although it took a couple of days for the news to sink in, we can't help but feel truly blessed. We are 11 weeks tomorrow and counting, so far so good. I am focused on staying healthy and eating right. I try not to think too far ahead as it can be overwhelming. We realized we now need a vehicle that carries eight, another crib, a stroller for three and oh yes, the diapers!! I find myself wanting to start stockpiling the smaller items I know we will need. I wish the Gosslelins had a link on their site to e-mail questions. I keep watching their show for any tidbet sof info on multiples and can't wait for the new episodes!
