Okay, I guess that I am going to get brave here and say yes, I have believed in reincarnation since I was 13 years old and read about Bridey Murphey. I feel that it answers alot of my questions. For awhile I couldn't understand all of its workings, but I've got a better grasp on it now. To me, it's the only thing that makes sense. There is alot more to it than most people are aware of and St. Francisof Asissi (definately misspelled) also was a believer. Okay, now I've said it and I don't know how anyone will respond, just remember, be respectful, because I will not fight and defend this belief, it is just a belief, and it is a belief I hold. It does not define me, it is a belief I hold. But, ther are many reasons why I still believe it after all these years. And one more thing, my husband is a fundamentalist type, so obviously, this is an area we don't agree on, still we have been married for over 25 years.

It is the only things that makes sense to me, too. But, I'll tell you . . . up until about 5 years ago I would have stated adamantly that I believe it is true. Now, I don't know now. I do not know what is going on in the spirit realm. So I don't know whether reincarnation really happens, or whether it is just a belief system to help me make sense of this material world . . . for the time being. (Is that clear as mud?)

There is even more to it like paralel lives and universes and overlays. It's wierd to think of it, but we experience things in a linear way here and now, but time is really an illusion. Have you ever thought about living in a non linear fashion, living outside of time?

I know exactly what you mean and it is clearer than mud. I have had to examine and re-examine my beliefs always also, and revise them when they no longer fit or I learn new knowledge and have an understanding of it.

This has been discussed before - and if you can visit the archives - I don't know if there is a search engine available that will locate these fast? You can see what was covered before - and people will repeat some of those points covered.
Over the decades there have been various documentaries or news items which covers reincarnation. Some investigative documentaries, looked a specific case, and tried to validate the memory of a person, who claimed such and such. I think usually though, the investigation did not 100% verify the details - but did not dismiss it either. "Strange but true?" which is British series of the year 2000? had a couple of very interesting cases. I did not videotape those segments (probably due to not having a blank tape available at the time) but had recorded other segments on other interesting subjects.
There is the story - that the Bible did have reincarnation in it, in the very early bibles - but these references were edited out - at some council - around the 5th? century.. And some references remain.
If you like to so some followup - then check out the figu resource material - which gives the Billy Meier / Plejaren explanation about reincarnation. That the time between lives is around 150 years - and contrary to what people expected... that our spirit is tied to this planet - that we don't normally reincarnate on other planets, etc. There is a loophole around this - that if you physically travel to another planet and die there, your spirit will be tied to that planet. I don't have a full understanding of that material - because there is a lot of detail to it, and complexity - and I have only read a fraction into it. I find it more believable - than the general new age view about reincarnation - which usually lack specific information, and tends towards a romantic view.
I think Edgar Cayce had done a lot to popularise reincarnation - with his many readings. There are of course, Christians who accept reincarnation as part of the teachings that Jesus taught. Many people don't know of the Talmud Jmmanuel text - which is suppose to be original teachings of Jesus, that Christianity distorted.
We see cycles all around us - and so reincarnation makes some kind of sense in cosmic terms. But with such realisation - you then acknowledge that there is still more and more to know about it - the more you think about it.

I don't remember my first years as an infant, but I lived them, so not remembering a previous life cannot be used as proof it didn't happen.
I don't remember every drill I did in second grade to learn arithmetic, nor the names and faces of everyone in my class, but I am skilled in addition and subtraction. This suggests that innate skills are the residue of drills done in a previous life even though their is no recollection of the learning experience.
There is not enough time to enjoy all of the wonders of the universe in one lifetime. I visited the 1963 World Fair in one day and DisneyWorld in one day, and neither experience was satisfying. I know when this life of mine is done that there is good reason to return to further enjoy the adventure of being alive.
It is fun to learn, and learning is fun, why should it end?.

Yes, I do remember it being discussed, but I was more involved in politics at that time, however, I did read the book from Billy Meiers sometime in the 1980's or early 1990's, and actually still have it somewhere here. I'll have to look for it and look in the archives also. Thanks, Carla

I did read the book "Light Years" by Gary Kinder a long time ago. I don't think it covered reincarnation at all? Wendelle Stevens probably did write a book at that time too - and may have covered more than the UFO aspect of the case. The Billy Meier case - actually covers a great deal of information - and people interested in doing any followup, should note - that the Randolph (Randy) Winters material - is recomended to be avoided, that some of those details may not be so accurate.
Perhaps next month, I can post up on Youtube - that news item about the 10 year old American boy who claimed to have been a pilot during the Pacific WW2 conflict - covered around 12? or so years ago.. also that clip which shows and explains the various spirit photographs taken, and their characteristic types.
I do think that one always have to be careful - if there are direct connections made? And they are not just inferred - ie. suggested only. Like one claim that near death experiences verify the Christian view. In the past - when I had looked at NDEs - the material did not have this link to it - but I can guess, that if you selectively looked at certain specific NDEs, and ignored others - you could make that sort of claim. Which may not be a representative view at all?
I do view that we are all the same - still - no matter what you believe in. That no one gets to be 'saved' while others go elsewhere... We should know when fear tactics are used - to force false beliefs upon us. That what is true and correct - can stand up to any kind of analysis that we apply to it - and if it cannot - then, it wasn't true in the first place. And I know we are not here, to smash each other's belief system to bits - because that is never the intention. But if some people have to do that - for themselves - their own, maybe then, they can understand that things have to change - so as to avoid what they had to do.

I am in understanding with you. A while back I did see something about the young boy who had nightmares or dreams about being a pilot in WW2 and dying. I also keep seeing a scene of an old Indian woman on the top of a hill, I can't get it out of my mind. I was that woman, I know it. It's hard to explain but I know that there is some connection.

Two stories stand out from 'Strange But True?' - that a man who had the impression that he was in the RAF during WW2 - when he sat a RAF test for the first time, he scored 100% in it - this is for entry into the RAF, that he knew morse code in his former life. The other story, is about an English woman, who still had a very strong memory of her former life in Ireland. Her former family was tracked down, and they somehow accepted her - and she seemed to know about them - knew them. That series covered a wide range of material - I taped informationa about Lorraine Han, a healer - and I will try posting it up on Youtube next month...
While it makes some kind of sense - that reincarnation makes more sense, than just having the one life alone, but of course, this raises even more questions ... You can guess that them...
I don't think the new age view about reincarnation, is altogether true. It is a very romantic view - it just sounds too unreal... but as a general idea, reincarnation sounds more convincing than anything else...

I've wonder, too. Does anyone know whether there is any kind of search.
It's nice to hear new ideas, but there is a lot of good material in old posts!

Go to the top of your screen and type "reincarnation" into the SEARCH OPRAH.COM field. Hit GO
On the next screen to appear click on SEARCH COMMUNITY link, and a more selective search screen will appear. On it will be hits for prior posts on "reincarnation". This screen allows refinement of search engine.

I believe in reincarnation for all sentient beings. To me, it is the only thing that makes sense, as well. We are made up of energy, that is a fact and just because our physical form eventually dies, energy doesn't. I have read countless books about reincarnation as well as a few about quantum physics. After I started meditating this past year I have had some strange memory recall in which I was an observer of events in India. I have never been to India, I am not of East Indian decent so nothing in this life would be familiar to me about India on a personal level. The memory I recalled was very clear and I wasn't dreaming. I can't explain it. I welcome more of these memories to help me sort out if in fact it is past life recall.

Oprah had Brian Weiss (A Psychiatrist well known for past life regression therapy) on her show either last year or the year before. He has a website and has written several books about past lives and past life regression if anyone is intersted. His story was so fascinating that I had to find out more and bought a couple of his books. Well worth reading.
