Oprah interview with Brazilian Girl

Hi

On the website of TV channel out of Brazil that displays the Oprah, most people criticized the way Oprah conducted the interview with the Brazilian Girl.
I love Oprah and I was disappointed with how biased and sarcastic with which she spoke of Brazil.
As people get money to pay property for money? Plastic?

Brazil is a very big country. The world just looks at the Rio de Janeiro. But Brazil has many other cities, different between them.
In south of Brazil, the cities are similar to cities in Europe. In northern Brazil, the towns are touristy. And in the center of Brazil are the major cities, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Sao Paulo is a city of culture, modern and very important to the economy. Rio is a tourist city that faces many problems of violence.

Here in Brazil people work hard. And because of that work can buy cars and houses. Brazilian HATES debts, so much so that the most indebted are the richest. Yes the richest of Brazil and the richest in the world (laughs) ... That's hate debt, and save to buy homes, that Brazilians buy their houses easier. Many go to poor communities (favelas).

The Brazilian population is not crazy about plastic, such as Oprah makes it seem. People make plastic here as anywhere else in the world. Also people are not obsessed with beauty, they give more care in Rio, because they go the beach often because of heat.

In Religion, the Brazilians are very religious. This is obvious, we can not fail to thank God for the blessed country that he has given us! A poor country that is discriminated against in the world, but it is growing, and by 2016 will be the 5th world power. The majority of the population is Catholic, but the number of evangelicals is growing much.

We Brazilians are very loving and respectful to all. And if one day Oprah visit Brazil, will be received as warmly received ALL. We were shocked by the prejudice of Oprah, but unfortunately the world to Brazil bias exists. But thank God all the people who come to Brazil in love. Thank you for this space to let our opinion. May God bless you all, bye!

Ah, sorry for my English. Here we speak PORTUGUESE, so my English is not good.

I felt that she was almost asking Aline about our "naked walks with our pet monkeys"(lol).

I agree with almost everything you said, lbrazil. But I'd like to add that even though the majority still has a religion, we are growing less and less religious(I'm agnostic). Even the people that do belong to one are guiding themselves less by it. Except the evangelical.

And I love that you said that we speak PORTUGUESE(in big letters (lol)). Maybe we should make a list.

Like:

-We speak Portuguese, not Spanish

-We do not live in ocas(Indian/Native American huts)

-We are a multi-racial country, not "Hispanic"(that's not even a race)

-We don't have snakes in the streets

-Carnaval is just a holiday. It's one that stops the country, like Christmas, but still, it's just a holiday. Very few people consider it a big part of their lives.

Non Brazilians, I'm just playing around. Ok? Imagine a friendly tone(even though the information given is real).

I also think it sucks that most Brazilians registered here(at least for now) are fans that supported the episode or wanted her to talk about the violence in the slums. I respect their opinion, but Oprah and her people are not getting the real perspective of the majority's reaction.
