Dear Heneini, No one rejects God.. even if one appears to.. the very words you quote even say that. Notice that even in the apparent rejecting are the words from Samuel "who himself saves you from all your disasters and distress". If God is the creator, he in his infinate wisdom, would know that his created would not always be able to do everything perfectly, much like our own children who we love, cherish and guide. Love for his creation is unconditional. Perfect in his understanding. Everything comes full circle in perfect timing, don't you think. No worries.
To ray's1love:
Just because someone rejects the christian idea of God does not mean they reject God.
That is your opinion......................and only an opinion. Bring him to me and let me taught to this God of yours.

Amen!
Maybe the better question is. Why do some persist in believing others actually reject God? I have a feeling rejection is a very strong word. I can believe that there are many that don't acknowledge God in their life. I was one. But, God made Himself known to me. (In other words, only God was going to convince me of His existence in my life.) I have to say it was a very humbling experience to realize how loving and merciful God is in spite of our humanness and stubbornness. But, to think many reject God IMHO will lead one to either misjudge others or become frustrated with others for an unfound reason.
We all know that John 1:1 is describing Jesus (the Christ, the Son) and not the Bible. Methinks maryg12 didn't say she rejected the Christ. Actually, she didn't even reject the Bible (just rejected it as being the only description of God).
