After seeing some people talk about "Precious", I knew I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie. The book was inspiring and I look forward to seeing the movie.

Hopefully Oprah as well as Mo'Nique will be able to address the issue of why Precious is only available in limited theaters tomorrow and why it is not coming to all theaters. I am very disapointed that I will not be able to see Mo'Nique's powerhouse performance is this movie that looks to be very promising. A lot of people are going to miss out on seeing this movie because it is not being shown in a theater near them. That is a shame.

Most movies do that. They'll start showings in major cities, and then after 2 or 3 weeks, start playing nationwide. It's not really an issue. You'll be able to see the movie soon!

Today's show was informative and entertaining. I want to thank Mo 'Nique, Oprah, and everyone involved that is spreading the word about sexual exploitation. Oprah is doing great works in getting this issue out in the open. I had mentioned Mo'Nique's name first because with her interview with Oprah, she did it...She named her criminal and made her victorious. Victorius people like her as well as Mackenzie Phillips and others that specifically states the names of the criminal who did this to them.

It is good that people are coming forward and saying that they have been sexually abused by someone in their family but when you name that person, you put them to shame. If possible people need to have a picture of them available so that other people can know about them. When people are identified by name and picture if possible the whole world will know, it is a sense of release of grief.

This problem of sexual abuse has been going on for centuries and no one has said anything about it to make an impact to stop this abusive movement. As Anderson Cooper accurately stated we have to continue to call the police and not think of ourselves as sniches to report anything strange happening. I was in a similar incident of reporting to the police more than once of what was happening in the alley of where I live. There is a young man in his teens or he is around 21 that is a sexual and phyiscal predator by the name of Marcus who has a little girl named Tiffany around 5 and a little boy named Shia who does not talk but is 1 or 2 walking age who he has abused that he is around every day. There is a teenage girl or she is a young woman who is also around and tries to stop him but does not suceed and does not call the police but she knows he does this and she acts like she is scared because he will physically abuse her as well. I Have even tried to find out exactly where they live but cannot becuase by the time I go around the area, I cant see where everyone is. On three seperate occasions I had called the police to try to see if they could call an officer closeby to come as quick as possible when some of the incidents were happening at the time. He goes to different alleys in the area with the children.

When you hear a chld in distress and you know it is not normal you want to try to save that child from harm, even if you don't know that child personally. I continue to pray every day that Marcus will be found out and that the children will be safe. If we are humans then we should act as humans. Cats don't even abuse thier own, why do we as humans do, we are suppose to be the highest form of intelligence on this planet but the act of abuse is primitive.

Thank you Oprah for continuing to bring this issue out in to the open. I have hopes that all sexual predators will be found out and that people will stop being abused. I plan to see the movie to support it and the message behind it.

I recently made a comment about today's show concerning sexual exploitation. I also wanted to add that men need to come forward as well. When I had my daughter, I wanted to protect her from any harm. That is when I started to hear about sexual abuse towards women. Years later when I had my son, my eyes had opened wider to realize that this form of crime is happening to boys if not more than to girls than what is being said but I guess not many men will admit to being abused. Maybe they think it will take away from thier manhood but I think it will also be a sense of healing if they came forward and named their criminal as well as possibly have a picture displayed along with that.

I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma and am very upset that the movie "Precious" is not being shown anywhere in this area! What an oversight! WE have waited for months to see this anticipated phenomenal production, only to not be included in the market place for opening weekend! Is the movie coming to Tulsa at all? :(

I agree, Precious will not be played in any theaters in the Reno/Sparks Nevada area as well, Since the announcement of it's release my family and I have been waiting for this day, we would love to have supported Lee Daniels, but we cannot, will there be an early release of the video since a lot of cities did not even get to view the movie first hand, please let us know, from a very disappointed city and viewer...

(!) You need to call the department of children and family services, or the like, and report this. You can even call anonymously. It's their job to investigate all calls.

Keep calling the police, call chidren services, don't give up! You may be the only one those kids can depend on to help them and you're a stranger.

Dear Oprah,

I have been watching your show for the past 19 years since I came to this country. Your shows have almost always left me crying my eyes out and today's is not exception. The way you have touched so many lives over the world is more than any government or organizatin could. You could have sent home the contestants that have lost the Karaoke Challenge and the exposure alone would have been enough, instead you presented with a $25,000 check, in this recession that can go a long way for each of these people.

I have learned so much from your show more than I could ever have learned from any university. I just want to say thank you, Oprah, for what you and your staff are doing for humanity.

Love you all,

Verna (Brooklyn, NY)

I just wanted to make a comment in response to Anderson and Oprah's discussion about the serial killer recently caught in Chicago. They were discussing the fact that he is a black man, and that the majority of serial killers are ususally white males. Cooper referenced another black serial killer in California. i was disappointed that neither of them referenced or acknowledged the serial killer, Derek Todd Lee, who killed at least 7 people in and around Baton Rouge, LA between 2002 and 2004. He is also a black male.

On a lighter note I truly thought Anna and Grace would be in the final three...Anna was AMAZING and Grace needs some work but I would buy both of there CD's...I loved that Abraham got in, I voted for him, Anna and Grace...So, I guess...GO ABRAHAM!

I am actually the "Asian Brother" Mo'Nique mentioned on today's show: the one who came up to her after a Q&A and screening of "Precious" in LA last week and admitted that I was the 'Mary Jones' of my family.

I did not expect to get so emotional in front of her when I revealed that admission? It's even more awkward given my background: I am a typical, educated, middle class Asian American male. I come from well-educated parents (dad has 2 masters & a bachelors degree, mom went to college & nursing school). I went to the prestigious Northwestern University just North of Chicago. However, that just shows how universal abuse can be? It transcends race, gender, economics, education and social background.

When you all see the film, you will see how cruel, vicious, abusive, degrading and disempowering Mo'Nique's character is to her daughter, Precious. Sadly, I was just as cruel to my own brother and sister growing up. Yes, my brother is now a doctor and my sister went to law school, but the memories of what actually happened are still there, and I'm sure, still very painful? I told Mo'Nique that I didn't mean to be so cruel to my brother and sister. She was very understanding. In fact, she gave me the longest, most nurturing and understanding hug I've ever experienced in my life!

And, here's some insight from Mo'Nique herself about her character... Although our audience was curious as to how we could have sympathy for such a cruel and unredemptive character (when you see the film, she does NOT redeem herself), Mo'Nique said that Mary Jones DID deserve some sympathy because A) She was actually mentally ill and needed help, but had no access to it economically and B) she was a human being, and that alone allowed her some grace?

I hope to have the same grace and forgiveness from my own family someday. Meanwhile, I will do what Mo'Nique suggested and get some help.

Perhaps Oprah will have a follow-up show on abuse and reactions to the movie "Precious" and I may get to tell my story and show my not-so-typical face of a former abuser?

I hope you all see the film and get something of value out of it for your own lives. A big THANK YOU to Ms. Mo'Nique for her kindness and sensitivity towards me.

Sincerely,

Chris C (Sherman Oaks, CA)
