Type 1 Diabetes

Hi Everyone,

Progesterone cream has helped my "brittle" Diabetes. I started having severe swings in blood glucose at the age of about 32. Things just got worse and worse as I had more and more highs and lows. Long story short- I feared dying in my sleep due to sudden drops in sugar. On several occasions I dropped too low to help myself during the night. If there was a pattern to the swings, I surely would have found it and taken necessary precautions. All I could see was that my insulin sensitivity was different at varying times of the month. I felt "accused" by the local Diabetes Educator and treated as a "non-compliant patient" because I was trying different things in order to find a solution.

In safely sleeping through the night, my only saving grace was my husband was in tune with me so much he awoke the first few timesI dropped into a helpless state. He felt the clammy sweat that my adrenaline response caused. Unfortunately, I had been low so frequently that the adrenaline response was inadequate and by the time I had the proper signals, I was already in a comatose state. Very quickly, we learned to set the alarm at night to avoid these situations. These night time blood sugar dips which were more severe when I worked out in the daytime. It made being healthy and fit have so much more challenge and less reward than ever before. I was keeping blood sugar higher and higher out of fear of the extreme and sudden lows. I was losing a lot of hope for a healthy long life.

After loads of research, I ended up sending my saliva away for hormonal testing after reading about it in Suzanne Somer's book. Wow. I was so pleased to find out there was something off with my hormones. It was so much better than finding no hope for a clear explanation for my instable diabetes.

I proceeded to order progesterone cream. I used it and felt much better when my sugar stabilized. After several months and more research I read The Diabetes Solution by Richard Bernstein, only to improve my blood glucose even more. This was the most informative and sensible treatment guide I have ever encountered regarding Diabetes treatment. Because eating low carb was so effective, I dropped the progesterone cream treatment. This led to a slow return to return to fluctuations. After a year of Bernstein way of eating, I returned to the Progesterone cream treatment, only to feel much, much better again.

I strongly wish to share my story for other women suffering from blood sugar swings and persistent hypoglycemia. I would love to hear from others who have discovered what I found, or can see their story in mine and find some answers here.

Unfortunately, the specialists I see here have no real interest in listening to hear what was so effective for me. I so wish they would discuss it with me and help me to spread the word.

:D Robyn, 40, from Canada
