Hihi we are definitely a blessed country and when its not raining
its also the most beautiful country...but then again I am danish so I'm probably a little bit bias.
I live in Denmark, pay 48% to tax but shall never think about how to pay medical aid. We have social security, go to the doctor for free and if you need an operation, that is what our tax pay for and for that I don't mind to pay my tax even though it's high. School, education is free etc.
Offcourse there's downsides to Denmarks as well as any country but overall I'm happy to live in little beautiful Denmark.
Nice to have you here Oprah even though you coursed quite at sturr in our capital of Copenhagen
. Nice to meet a beloved person as you, so down to earth. You are welcome back any time.
We are paying maximum 48% in tax, but we have a higher salary, mine is 35000 DKR / 7000 $ pr months, and I got aprox 22000 DKR / 4400 $ after TAX. see also answer from odenselady and Kristina.
I am so happy now. That out got out of a acholic marrige. I am attending college full time. And working full time. I was so tired of being control by someone who could't control their life and was trying to control mine. You say you always want to give back. Well I give back everyday in prayer and for people who has simlier situations. It really strange. I can walk in a store or what ever. And I don't meet a stranger. I always say hi and smile. Sometimes even strike up a conversation . Like I known the person for years
Hey
I'm living in Denmark, and I can tell you, that you don't pay 50-70% in taxis.
Ooh, can't wait for the world to know that Denmark is not a city in Germany
- just a joke.
I'm proud to be Danish but I personally think that (too) many people here, tend to complain a lot.
However, I bet everyone here feels a certain security in life which obviously is priceless.
I've traveled all over the world and know the important fact of, for instance, being able to leave a baby outside sleeping without having to worry. Even though I do not have a child myself yet, it sure does describe our calm and secure mentality.
Thank you for coming, Oprah!
Nothing is ever that simple - especially when it comes to paying taxes
. Don´t think I ever heard of anyone paying that much of their income... and yes, I´m danish - born here and still live here. Happy? Yes, very much so.
No surprise here - danes are happy, no doubt ´bout that! Danish born and still living here, with no plans of mooving anywhere else. I once lived in the US, and think the biggest difference is the way we value things - in Denmark, it is´nt always the pricetag that sets the value of things - money can´t pay for time spent with your kids, the feeling of beeing able to do what you dream of, the options you have when most of your time is´ne tied up in long workdays... in short, danes value spare time and personal freedom more than a new iPhone
I do not know where the idea comes from, that vi Danes pay 50-70% of over income in taxes? My income per year is about $85.000. (well beond the average income in Denmark). My income tax is 35,5 %. Not 50-70 %! It is an misunderstanding. I have heard it before but it is just not true. Trying to explance the danish tax system would be fare out, but it is not so simple as som of you make out to be...
Denmark is a great country to live in if you are a woman. You have an education system that fits women perfect, but at the same time loosing men, who is becoming the losers of society. You have very powerful female organizations and female politicians who demonize men, and at the same time making all females into victims of a masculine culture or a male discrimination+. This is of course without any truth in reality. Denmark is a "big mother" society. Men are becoming second rate citizens who should take the blame for anything when it comes to gender-issues.+
The male sexuality is seen as something dangerous and beneath women's sexuality.
