MOLD (Fungus) can kill you!

Posted on Jul 11, 2009 4:44 PM

If this is mispost it is because I don't see anywhere to add my discussion about mold.

A few years back I came down with a severe mold infection during the catastrophic storms

back in 2004 in Florida. it's taken me almost 5 years to come close to where my health was

and still I have challenges.

I write this because what i have learned about mold suggest I should be dead but I was

just lucky or had God really looking over me during these past years.

First i want to say mold is a truely fastidious bug even worse than virus and bacteria because

it can go undetected for decades, but when it strikes it is potent and powerful. Diseases

like diabetes, heart disease, asthma, and any of the chronic disorders are supported by

this bug.

What's more frightening is that the medical pofession doesn't take it serious and when you

die of it they give it a disease name instead of what the pathologist finds.

So if you are having malaise or nausea and wounds that don't heal have your

doctor do a mycological study. It could just save your life.

I will write more and be glad to answer and share my experience on a personal level.

Hope this helps someone that is finding themself in a position where they are sick

and can't find out what's ailing you.

Hi K,

There is a thread for mold illness under Aspergillosis. You found the right category: diseases. If you scroll down you will see many replies. Aspergillus fungus almost killed me last year. It was a very expensive recovery since I don't have prescription insurance. I am lucky for it did not go to my lungs as the others in the postings. Some have ports in their chest for IV antifungal drugs several times a day.

Mold seemed to have been a problem in the South and parts of the West. Now it is everywhere. I have spoken with men and women from Tennessee and North Carolina to New York, Massachusetts and Vermont. I have noted in the past on this site that the UK is all over this disease. It is very hard to find a doctor in the US, but they are out there. I believe climate change is playing a big role in this explosion of fungal growth in homes, schools and colleges, businesses, hospitals, etc.

Check out the Aspergillos thread. Good luck.

Thanks Aurilee,

For helping me with Navigation.. I did take a look and even did a

site search for Aspergillos, but it looks like it has been removed.

if you can link me the tread link I will be glad to have a look.

Aspergillus is just one toxic strain. However there are numerous

forms of mold that will make you sick and like Aspergillis can kill

you.

Unfortunately here in the US they don't take mold very serious, they

even contend that mold does not kill people. That can't be more

further from the truth. Most healthy people who get quick treatment

will usually survive an infestation of toxic mold but those who are

immunosuppressed with chronic conditions often die.

In fact there is a case in Florida where 3 kids died in a cancer unit

some days apart, when the hospital did some construction a floor

below. With their already fragile systems compromised this spelled

death for these three unfortunate youngsters. There parents can't get

their children back so they initiated a lawsuit against the hospital.

Hopefully this will bring awareness to the serious nature of Mold,

here in the states.

Nontheless I still think they need a topic dedicated to mold. With

all the natural disasters occuring such as flooding, hurricanes,

tornados and earthquakes we are sure to see more deaths for this

serious condition.

As far a climate change we have always had mold. So long as the

earth maintained a ecological balance we were somewhat safe. I

believe what is happening is we are now having to face the facts that

it not only makes you sick but can also kill you.

Thanks again

I was exposed to mold at work. They decided to pain over the mold in a modular building even after being told they need to take care of the mold first.

I now have severe lung problems, have been hospitalized approximately 7 times per year since the exposure. I have growths in my lungs that my doctors have biopsied, they say it's an allergic reaction. I never had asthma, now I am told I have very severe asthma.

This is frustrating due to the fact that when you tell your doctor you were exposed to the mold, but know longer are around it they act as if you are crazy. I think many of the younger (please don't take offense) doctors are a little more up to date on the mold issues.

The building I worked in was inspected by OSHA, I was one of the people who moved the furniture from the moldy building into another one. Never being told that the furniture should not be put into a different building. They ended up having to burn the building.

My problem now besides my horrible health is that I work for the government and good luck trying to get help fighting our government.

frustrated.

I'd like to know more about your experience. I've just been diagnosed with aspergillius in my right lung and have to say I am scared to death. I am a 48 year old lady and I carry the insurance for our family, so needless to say I need to fight this battle. I'm seeing a lung specialist but do I need to see a infectious disease doctor? Thanks for sharing your expereince.

Go to the Aspergillosis thread on this message board. Look at Serena's post and others. They have fungal infections in the lungs and have very good advice. Serena started a non-profit for this very issue. She just received an invitation from the UK experts to attend a conference in Rome for patients with this horrible infection. It is life threatening and the US is lagging in the field.

Aspergillosis is under Diseases, Good luck.
