How is that possible? TONS of people are already getting totally free health care just by walking into the emergency room. You might as well join them. Why bother having insurance and doing the right thing when the hospitals give treatment for free? Ask the illegal immigrants, they've already figured it out long ago. Walk in and you can't be refused.

It is this free health care that has made it so expensive for the rest of us. The cost of insurance premiums is through the roof to compensate all the illegals and uninsured that are receiving free health care. It's time the legal citizens stand up for what's right, until that happens, it's only going to get worse.

Why don't you move to Canada? Everyone tells me their healthcare is awesome. Of course if you have a stage 4 cancer tumor on your heart you won't be able to get treated in Canada. Your only hope then is that America hasn't gotten universal healthcare and removed expensive procedures AND that Canada will approve you for treatment in America.

You keep saying that the healthcare system in Canada is poor in comparison to ours. Yet it seems the only people complaining about the health care in Canada are American. I have seen plenty of Canadians and Americans living in Canada defending this system. The Canadians love their universal public health care so much they voted Tommy Douglas as the Greatest Canadian on a television show. Tommy Douglas is known as the father of medicare. He is the brave politican who helped install the Canadian health care system. If it was as bad as you and many conservatives make it out to be, wouldn't he be the last person to receive this honor?

I am in the medical field (billing) I do not think the new health care will work due to it will be so much like HMO. I used to work in health insurance verification and billing. We had many patients die in the process of waiting for approval for basic treatment or hospitalization. I ended up moving into another field due to seeing to many patient die due to waiting. It was very sad. This is also medicare HMO and regular HMO.

I think that this health care would work for the people that don't have any kind of insurance or money to aford to see a doctor.Low class people has it so ,bad.You on the other hand proably have money and insurance and thats why you have a gaul to blame us.where you get off saying that we have free health care.That we are making it so exspensive for you people and that insurance premiums is high . That is not our fault, it's people like you that makes it hard for low class income people,like me,my sister and other that are less unfortutnate to live.I hope and pray that you can sleep at night ,knowing that people are dieing ,because of your ingourence.

Everyone please read the posts in the Goverment Managed Health Care thread (under the topic World Health). These are posts by people from different countries who live with universal health care. They tell very different stories than we hear from Republicans.

Our country has the worst health care in the civilized world, and the only excuse for it is corporate greed. Please listen to the truth from the people who live in countries that cover all their citizens.

My "igourence"? The illegal immigrants and those without insurance are the ones creating higher prices for the rest of us. I don't fault those without insurance as much as I fault those who are here illegally. Those who are here illegally should not be allowed to step foot into a hospital for free heath care. Perhaps if they stopped having free health care, they'd go home.

Namaste friendsofb; What is this statement, I dont get it can you please explain. I am Canadian, a three time cancer survivor who is genetically pre-disposed to this dreadful disease and I never heard of which you say in the above line.

ps I will be forever grateful to my Grandmothers and many other women,back in the early sixties, who marched on parliament, mostly farm wives from Saskatchewan to demand healthcare for whomever needed it. We all pay a little more on our taxes but its well worth it.

In this country medical insurance is a for-profit business. It is in the very best interests of the insurers to see that we all get minimal care and no preventative care (just think of this concept - if doctors really cared for their patients....WOW.) This has nothing to do with illegals receiving emergency care.

The only "illegals" crossing borders are desperate, minimum-wage people. They are trying to survive. Again, business is responsible for their hire. American greed trumps hiring a citizen or (yeah, right) the potential employer assisting the foreigner in becoming a citizen so that they are hirable.

Sounds like maybe when our economy tanks for real, you might find the shoe on the other foot.

mmsarch... trust me.... the illegals have had a great effect on the state of our hospitals. They are not going there just for emergency care, believe me. Someone can walk into the emergency room and receive care for a sniffle and not be turned away.

mmsarch... These illegals aren't desperate minimum wagers... they are driving around LARGE SUV's and opening up businesses of their own. Doesn't sound like desperation to me. They are also killing people while driving drunk. They also are driving around without car insurance... the list goes on.

Do you know that I saw an illegal hit someone in a parking lot.... then they tried to drive away. Several people went after them and cornered them and called the police. They were just going to drive off as though nothing happenened. Only trouble was, there were lots of people in the parking lot that weren't going to allow it.

So aisley will you be willing to stand at the emergency room door, look these fellow human beings in the eye, and tell them their lives aren't worth the time, effort, or money it takes to care for them? Whether they come into this country legally or not, they are human beings who are someone' s mother, father, sister, brother, or child. They perform the hardest more thankless tasks for next to nothing, while you enjoy the low cost of their labor every time you walk into the grocery store. Illegal aliens are an easy target in bad times. They are simply trying to support their families. It is American industry that take advantage of them. They wouldn't be coming to our hospitals for free health care if the companies they worked for provided them with health insurance along with their paycheck. That is the trick. American companies hire them full well knowing that they don't have to provide anything for them but a less than average wage. If American companies obeyed the law and stopped hiring illegal aliens, they wouldn't come, and we would all pay far more for food and construction costs. Put the blame where it belongs.

Peace... let me turn this back around on you..... Do you know how many illegals have murdered people in the USA? Do you know how many drive drunk and kill US citizens? Think about this when you feel they deserve free health care. We here about this every day in the news here. Perhaps it's differnent where you live.
