A bit confused by your post. I shall assume you mean she shaves ALL of her area, which by the way is not her vagina.

This is quite normal. First waxing, then French waxing and finally Brazillian waxing. Not sure which came first.

Young guys are shaving their chests and backs. It's the image out there to remove ALL body hair.

It's not sick, it's part of the current grooming trend. Let this one go, as there will be other hurdles far more important.

My daughter is also 14 years old. I do not see a problem with her shaving her under arms, legs, and the bikini area. At this age, they're starting to grow a lot of hair in those areas. When they wear bikinis they don't want to have that hair showing, just like I don't. As long as she's being careful, I think it's okay to shave the pubic area.

I agree with Dulcette and BTW I too shave...............I noticed my daughers do too! I was surprised then commented on it and they did point out that I did it as well!!! No, I don't see it as a big deal at all. Armpits, legs............what's the difference??

I am an RN in obstetrics and have worked in that area for 16 yrs. I have noticed the dramatic increase in the grooming trend of shaving the genital area over the last 7-10yrs. I am 50 yrs old and had never thought to ever do this. One of the nurses I work with recently said she never heard of anyone not doing it until she worked in this area. (she is about 26) I was kind of shocked, but, hey I am sure than when women started shaving their underarms and legs, their mothers who did not do this were probably quite shocked, too. Whatever you prefer.....no big deal.

Some cultures dictate good hygiene down there.

For what it's worth, hair down there really serves no purpose for the modern woman, anyways. We wear clothes now, and don't run around nude.

what about the hair stuble? omg, that my be the most irritating feeling in the world. i mean, you would have to shave everyday or twice a day, no? idk if it matters but some races have different 'textures' of hair and i cant imagine shaving ones pubic hair wolud be comfortable once it starts growing back.

Things sure have changed in the past 10 years! I work as a PA in an OB-GYN practice. I'd say over 90% of my patients shave just about all of their pubic hair. A few leave a small strip. about 20% of them also have clitoris or labia rings (many with both) I'm 33 and have been shaving my pubic area since I was 19; and have had labia rings since I was 21. A nurse in my practice (about 50) asked me about it over a year ago. She says she's noticed the change over the last 10 years, too. I've had a few women ask me about it. If they do, I give them advice about shaving and waxing. . I've had women ask me if they look normal. Because that is a common question, we started photographing our patients vulvas and breasts (with their permission). We keep a book of photos in the exam rooms. Every vulva photographed is shaved or waxed. It is amazing what women don't know about their bodies. I have a patient who had seen a plastic surgeon about labia reduction and was prepared to do it. She saw the photos, many with very large labia, and changed her mind, She decide that they are "one of her best features!" A little knowledge goes along way to acceptance of who we are.

Thanks for sharing. That is SO interesting! I wish my dr had those photos too. I am so inquistitve myself. I didn't realize such a large portion of the population did this. I just knew I did it and liked it. I too have large labia and I always wonder how many others are the same. When i was younger my mother thought it strange when she noticed but I have friends and sometimes when we've discussed it over a couple of cocktails we shared glimpses........you know, a pictures speaks a thousand words! I too have looked into labia surgery but ouch! Don't want to do that!

according to my husband who has heard many "male converstaions", approximately 75% of men like the larger lips.Apparently they make the men feel like the woman is excited. Who would have known? I guess size does matter!!! hahaha

Hi, I am a man and just a side note would prefer a little color when looking at a woman. Shaved bald looks like a little girl to me.
Nicely trimmed, even a little design yes but bald .. i dont care for.

But my main concern is i have found out my 15 year old shaves completely and wonder why. Is it because it is a fad and the other girls are doing it or does she have a boy friend that wants it done. She claims to still be a virgin but then i find out she is shaving.

I guess there could be many reasons for this. maybe they still take community showers after PE in school and the other girls are doing it, or maybe just because Hip Hugger pants have gotten so low she has no choice but to shave.

I know girls always say they do things for themselves HA like hell. no one goes through all the trouble women go through to look beautiful for themselves. i think if it were not for other peoples opinions women wouldnt shave anything or wear makeup at all.

Uh, I think it is quite possible that many teen girls and women do shave/wax down there for themselves. It really has to do more with hygiene than anything else. Consider why women keep their armpit hair removed. Do you know that men in Middle Eastern nations also remove hair from their pits, too? Any country that is hot, where bacteria can collect on body hair and cause odor and disease. The things is this: pubic hair does not really serve any practical purpose.

Ask your doctor and if he/she is smart at all, he/she will tell you the same thing.
