The book of astrology

Posted on Feb 17, 2009 4:36 AM

Since the book of Job thread has been taken over by astrology, I thought to start a book of astrology thread (and perhaps we'll end up at Job again ... ? with God, anything is possible)

Astrology fascinates me == or should I say, star-signs fascinate me, and the uncanny connections between people of the same star-sign. Of course, we cannot put everyone into the 'same pot' -- our egos might struggle with that idea, after all, we are all individuals. But, we still belong to the same family -- that of humanity. And humanity is divided into star-signs. I also get excited about Chinese astrology, because there too it is uncanny how the animal is actually reflected in a person, once we LOOK A LITTLE CLOSER -- the one day at work we were discussing what animal we could possible resemble -- my Chinese sign of the horse must have been very strong on that day, because a colleague said I reminded her of a white pony. Another colleague was told she looked like a cat -- her Chinese star-sign is Tiger. Co-incidence ?

Happns, would be so cool if you could post all 12 of those funny star-sign descriptions on here. They are really hilarious. A little far-fetched, but not as far-fetched as some stories that do the rounds on these boards here, LOL.

Just for fun...

I am Virgo with Scorpio rising and was born in the year of the dog. Other than that, I don't remember much I was told. Except that my mind rules my passion. (I think?)

I'm Libra with Virgo rising. One of the first so-called "new age" things I ran into was astrology. It is amazing how accurate some people are doing readings.

jgrows,

My favorite subject! Thanks for posting. I am a gemini with leo rising. I have studied astrology for over 20 years. I just viewed the documentary "Zeitgeist," and was fascinated (and pleased) about how this whole religion thing is actually based on astrology. Astrology is quite unique in that each individual's astrological chart is like a thumbprint - no two are exactly alike. It is actually a photo of the sky at the exact date, time & place of your birth. The chart is fundamentally divided into three energy manifestations; planet/signs/houses - the planets are the "what" of your chart, signs "how" and houses "where."

After looking at the above documentary. I view religion with a different lens and it is fascinating how it all falls into place. Thanks again for creating this post - I love it & YOU!

Light!

I asked this on the book of job thread when someone mentioned it... how does the star sign determine if you are an old soul or not? I do not get that part. Where did this reasoning originate? Got anything in your books gf?

You do look like a white pony gf. LOL Beautiful! I would also enjoy Happns posting all the descriptions. That was hilarious. Do you really get upset about your aquarian man being nekkie all the time? hehe

My questions in regards to the star signs is... are we given these traits of the star sign in order to balance that part of ourselves in creating harmony in this life? I mean I clearly have seen some inherent traits of an Aries within myself that were well, let's just say, difficult for others to deal with and at times a struggle for me. For instance, patience was a virtue I struggled with for many years. I wanted everything to happen yesterday and found myself anguished over it if it didn't happen in my own timing. Then, pretty much everyone else paid if it wasn't done in the way my mind thought it should be. I was a tyrant at times, I have to admit. As soon as someone found out I was an aries, they would quietly back away and roll their eyes. LOL Saw that many times.

A woman many years ago told me, as soon as you get bored with something you will move on. She was pretty much right about that. I cannot tolerate not loving what I do. If boredom set in, I would move on to something else.

My daughter, a scorpio, taught me a lot about me. She was my nemesis for a time, always challenging my aries traits as if they meant nothing. She was probably one of the few who would stand up to my ego and tell me like it is, instead of crawling away. Some days she would really sting my ego. Today, we are best friends and I am truly grateful for her lessons.

What I also find interesting is my best friend is a cancer. She always was brutally honest with me about everything and I appreciated that about her. Even if it hurt to hear it, she was always right and I couldn't deny that. I love her mothering qualities.

Interesting in many respects how there are 12 signs and 12 tribes and wonder how that correlates?

Good morning, Jungian-

The interesting thing about astrology is that we chose our chart preincarnate in a knowing mindset that understands the types and blends of energies that would best suit our need for growth/enlightenmen/advancement in this neverending journey called Life.

Namaste,

perfect description, yobizz -- like a thumbprint !

Like we all have our PLACE within these energies that this 'blue-brint' fits perfectly into. Like currents with certain voltages.

Hi Jung

that is a good question about 'who is older' on the wheel of astrology -- I never quite got that either. I don't understand how something on a wheel can be first, or last ....? I can only guess and say that maybe you go through one star-sign manier times, until you've 'learnt that star-sign's lessons' -- and depending on how many times you do it, you move up a notch, to the next one -- until you've gone through ALL star-signs. But maybe there's no limit to how many times you need to go through one sign -- you could spend all eternity spending time in just one sign. LOL. oh dear. I'm really just speculating now.

I tend to make friends with cancerians easily. My moon is in cancer. There are certainly certain types that will always 'get to you' or that you will get on smoothly with. Some you never really spend any time with at all. Maybe that means you'll spend time with them in your next life, or you've already spent time with them .... ?

(p.s. no, I don't get upset about my naked aquarius. I get upset about his stuff lying around. LOL)

Exactly!

As for how we experience these energies, I don't think it's a matter of spending time in one sign and perfecting that, and so on... Unless you're talking about the Aeons - like we're currently in the age of pisces and this is probably why much of humanity is going through this religious "give up your power" thing. Otherwise, our astrological charts - in one way or another - include all of the 12 energies; so we are experiencing them all at the same time.

Can't answer your question, but I've abandoned the entire "old soul" idea. I think, ultimately, we all came into being at the same time . . . maybe some of us have had more experiences on earth, maybe some elsewhere.

You got that right jgrows - it's a wheel - no ending, no beginning. However, for the sake of metrics, aries is first (pioneer) and pisces is last (sacrifice/closest to the Godforce) - but we all know every ending is a new beginning and vice versa.

I can relate with that. Possibly, when we relate to someone as an old soul, they are actually just a familiar one. ;)

FG, The rising sign is based on where the sun is on the horizon at the time of your birth - it changes every two hours (the signs, that is). You can google "astro" and get a free chart or you can give me your info and i can look it up for you. Being a pisces, you might want to forgo the latter - it's like peeking under your skirt - or pants as the case may be - he he. Peace & Blessings, ~yo

A wren the airy fairy Aries... not!

Aries have ramlike eyebrows and smug expressions. They should not be quite so smug because they are constantly clunking themselves in the skull. Cat Stevens' "Hard Headed Woman" was probably an Aries. Aries rarely say one thing and do another. They usually do the wrong thing and don't discuss it. Never point this out to an Aries unless you want your kidneys pulled out through your sinuses. Aries folks love Pisceans because Pisces people make them feel well-grounded. Aries love to laugh at the funny moon-people who suck their thumbs at age 35. Aries use guns to describe philosophical concepts. Whether they live in a palatial estate or a cardboard tepee, they will insist until death that it is exactly what they always wanted. Most Aries were concrete parking bumpers in at least two of their past lives. Aries are never born. They skip gaily from their mothers' wombs. This may even involve rollerblades. The Aries makes life decisions as a toddler. Aries marry several times for funnies but never divorce. Their spouses have many freak accidents resulting in death or crippling injury. Being infallible, God is probably an Aries. This would make Satan an Aquarius. Aries always hold management positions. If one is assigned to clean toilets, he will form a one-man union. Then he will go and picket in the parking lot. All of you think you're Michael Moore. People run away when an Aries comes around. They know that if they do not, the Aries will set them on fire. Aries hate listening to Scorpios talk because they take pride in being even more self-centered. In fact, much to the Scorpios' dismay, you are the biggest jerks in the zodiac. Your rams' horns are in everyone else's butts.
