I agree with the concept of eating healthy, but what is most disturbing to me is that there is a lot of discussion of calorie restrictions, diet, low fat etc, everyone wanting to loose weight....but when presenting this information it should be stressed that this is for someone that has stopped growing (in other words, adult) severly overweight and/or subscribed under a doctors observation....there are many young people who are taking this message to the extreme. My daughter began trying toeat healther, only eating non fattening things, dipping her salad in dressing etc...it soon got out of control and she became borderline anorexic. She did not want to eat anything that was not "healthy". No fat/limited calories. Well needless to say she loss alot of weight too quickly, and it scewed her thoughts regarding food, she lost normal functions for a young woman, she did not have enough fat/calories to sustain her period etc...Please be more responsible with these messages and body image.....keep in mind that young people are so influenced by the messages given by respected pubic figures.....We have since been under a care of a nutrionist, and we are making progress, but it is more difficult to reintroduce eating enough to sustain your body. Thank you.

The thing I see wrong in this Life Extension through organs grown with your own cells is it is going to be for the ultra rich only. If people would just learn how to listen to their own bodies this would add years to their lives. My past relations ate what they wanted but the amount is the secret and what you eat like fish vegetables and fruits along with nuts. My relatives lived to be in their 80's and 90's and that was back 50 years ago. I'm 61 look 40 and feel 20 with bare minimum. Oh my Grandfather could jump up and click his heels together twice. So I don't go by what others say I listen to my body.

When Oprah was leaving Costco with David Murdock, she commented:

"He drives a Maubach, but no one has a wallet!"

What is a Maubach?

I could see the Biotivia Transmax bottles behind Dr. Oz and their green capsules were in his hand when he spoke about the resveratrol supplements.

We live in a time when the earth itself is under pressure due to the number of people that inhabit it. Isn't living to 120 the ultimate disservice to our children, grandchildren, etc. that have rights to enjoy a world that is able to support its people through clean water, something that will be in short supply if we don't move to protect it, and a viable food supply? The measure of life isn't in its length but in its substance.

I have watched Oprah's Show. Dr. Oz talked to an elderly man who was able to regrow a lost part of his finger by applying a powder to the wound on his finger and put a Band-Aid over it. In four weeks he had regrown a new finger. My thought was, would that same kind of treatment be available to young soldiers returning home from a war having lost a finger or a toe? Wouldn't that be great.

friendly greetings :x

37. Dr. Oz: Growing body parts vs. stem cells
Mar 24, 2009 4:32 PM   |   In response to: harpobear

I've seen the bladder body part grown from your own cells in other shows, used for people with bladder cancer. I don't have bladder cancer but my bladder doesn't work right and it affects my daily life - my bladder lining is damaged. Would like to know if stem cells would help me in the future.

The request I have of Dr. Oz/Oprah Show is to do a show on stem cells and to go beyond what we always hear about. Mostly I hear stem cells will be good for Alzheimers, paralyzed, and Parkinsons' patients. What else?

What is the difference between sitting in an infrafed spa and going out into my backyard in Central Texas and sitting when it's 105F?

Is Biotivia a good company that manufactures resveratrol supplements?

I own a women only fitness center in West Ft. Worth and have the Sunlight Far Infrared Sauna in my establishment. I preach, preach and preach the benefits of this one sauna, many times on deaf ears. I am so glad Oprah has done a touch on this as the health benefits are unbelievable!!! My chiropractor charges 40.00 per visit in his sauna! If you can find a facility with one use it....often! I have the exact model shown on Oprah today and I must say the energy I have from using it works as well as a B-Complex! Love it! Love it! Love it! Not to underestimate the benefits of movement...moving helps aid digestion and also releases endorphines.. YIPEE!!

In regards to the gentleman at the start of the show who eats three apple peels a day, but "tosses" the apples:

I am sure that there is a food bank somewhere in his general area that would appreciate 1,000 peeled apples a year. The satisfaction of helping some people acheive even a modest age might help the gentleman acheive a sense of satisfaction and peace, which I believe can extend one's life.

Biotivia is the one that consumer lab approved and the one that most university medical schools use in their trials. The company has been manufacturing resveratrol and similar supplements for 18 years. It is the one that was listed on the show credits.

I enjoyed the information on this show, but there would be some serious problems if we all started living until 120 or 150. We already are facing issues with world food shortages due to the increasing world population. If people were living twice as long, we would be facing serious food shortages, shortages of housing, and the increased consumption required to support this inflated population would most likely lead to even more pollution contributing further to global warming.

Sure we could maybe live longer, but what kind of world would we be living in and what kind of world would this change leave for our children?

Now if there was a way I could make sure I could live a normal long life (80 -90) healthy with all my wits about me and then just die in my sleep while having a really awesome dream, I would be totally interested in hearing about it. ;)

Can you give me a namebrand and a website for resveratrol? On Oprah's website I read an article from O magazine and it stated that resveratrol should not be used on a long-term basis. So, what constitutes "long-term"?
