How does one go about finding a doctor that prescribes bio-identical hormones? Is there a website with doctor listings? The only
thing that I can find is fee based reports that may or may not include such information. Thanks!

I have been compiling a list of doctors who have contacted me through the Oprah board, so if you let me know what state you are in, I may have some info on a good doctor near you. Or, if you are willing to travel, there are several excellent medical groups and health centers that are willing to do follow up visits over the phone, provided that you come in person for the first appointment.

Hi
I'm new to this site & not sure if I am doing this right so if I'm not I apologize. You mentioned you were compilng a list of Dr's I live in the Philadelphia area and would love to know if you have anyone close to me for BHRT. I had a total hysterectomy 2 years ago & have been struggling w/ hormes ever since.
If you have any names I would greatly appreciate it!!
Thank you,

I am looking for a doctor in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. My own doctor is wonderful but she says she does not know how to prescribe
Bio identicals! She's had many requests and is trying to get information from the Menopause Clinic here locally but so far has heard nothing back from them.

The best place to start is at an actual compounding pharmacy. They will give a list of doctors who prescribe the hormones. I have found that my pharmacy is a wealth of information about bio-identicals.

If you are trying to get information about doctors or hormones from a compounding pharmacy, make sure that it is PCAB accredited. PCAB stands for the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board and you should be able to find their website with a national list of certified compounding pharmacies. Their quality control standards are rigorous so you know that you are in good hands with a PCAB accredited compounding pharmacy. If the compounding pharmacy is not PCAB accredited it really has no uniform standard of regulation or quality.

Hi,
On your list, do you have any doctors in the Gurnee, Illinois area? I have been searching for a doctor for weeks now, and can't find any in my area. I can't even find a coumpounding pharmacy.. Didn't know it would be this difficult.
Hope you have something.
Thanks,
Susan

Hi Norakl
I've gone on their website and they have absolutely nothing listed for Illinois at all. Neither pharmacies or doctors. I tried to call them but you only get an answering machine. I left a message and emailed them. That's the problem. HRT sounds like a great idea, but try to find a doctor or compounding pharmacy.. Good luck.
Hay Oprah, if you're reading this, got any ideas?
Thanks,
Susan

Susan,
Mark Drugs out of Roselle, Illinois is the main compounding pharmacy for Illinois. You should try contacting them for a list of Illinois doctors that use them.

For your info I just create a blog to get doctor's names and locations. I will up-date the info on a regular basis so we can together help each other. The fact is we can read a lot about bio identical hormone therapy, everybody knows about it, but we don't have health professionnals to consult. I beleive we will get info with this blog soon !
