PLUS Loan Suggestion - You left something out!

I was just watching the Oprah show and caught your segment advising that couple to look into options for their kids to get school loans for college.

You seemed so proud of yourself to tell that couple that their kids would graduate debt free.

True - but what about their parents? If they are not in a position to outright afford their kids college tuition, is it really such a good suggestion to have them rack up 4 years of college tuition expense that they have to pay back at the same time they are probably trying to save for their own retirement? If they can't afford it now - why would they be able to 4 years later?

You seemed to have left out that the child would have no outstanding debt - but the parents, however would be drowning in debt.....
