I feel your pain. I can't stand it when there are a ton of hair products that weren't made for people like us. I have thick wavy hair and yes it gets frizzy (I live in Florida, the weather tends to get very humid). Invest in a pair of thinning shears, it takes the bulk out of hair(no more pyramid pouf) and makes it easier to manage. You could try putting one drop of olive oil in your hair.
Curly hair solutions is NOT going to help with the "pyramid pouf". Humidity makes the "pyramid pouf" worse. Even if there is no moisture in the air, my hair always finds a way to pouf out. I have thick WAVY hair. Thinning shears neutralizes the dreaded pouf.
I am a licensed cosmetologist who does multi-cultural hair, here's what I recommend:
Depending on your hair there are two things you can use, if your hair has a tight curl (afro natural) try a relaxer, you may have to straighten some but when applied correctly it shouldn't be too often, only after shampooing.
If you have a soft wave that can be unruly, try a straight perm, with the smoothing system your hair will remain straight for 6 to 8 months until your hair grows out from the root so a retouch is required.
For home care maintenance, I recommend serums for the hair and shampoos and conditioners that focus on defrizzing the hair. Add another conditioner with moisture because with this kind of hair, moisture is very important.
As with always consult a licensed cosmetologist for you chemical applications it is always best to rely on a chemical specialist in this area.
Good luck.
