Sounds interesting. Also for those of us mid-lifers might want to talk about how to accept wrinkles in a society that seems to look for folks to appear younger and younger. (No, I don't see botox in my future! I am a nurse but get faint when the needles are aimed my way!!)
Looking forward to seeing the shoe. The hair test sounds intriguing....

I really enjoyed today's show with Dr. Oz. However, I am wondering why he did not suggest to the lady with acne that she omit dairy products from her diet and add acidophilus for a few weeks to see if her skin would clear up? Leslie
I have several of Dr. Oz's books and I like him and Oprah very much. They both provide so much of what the world needs right now. Thank you. Having said that, I am frustrated at the lack of information on the show about how safe most of the ingrediants in most of the products featured on the shows are. I have done extensive research on "green" living and there is a lot of talk about avoiding products that contain parabens in paticular as they have been shown to be hormone disruptors. The show not too long ago with Julia Roberts about going green did mention this briefly, but I'd really like to hear Dr. Oz weigh in on the subject. It is very expensive to buy the very few products out there that are mostly organic and it's difficult to find ones in that catagory that are effective. I know that getting the country to go green is a big job that will take awhile....... and your show can't be expected to do all the work, but that fact is, as you know, that people seem to listen to you and I feel like this is an area where very few people are educated. Everyone I know uses health and beauty products that are filled with chemicals and I just want to know how much sleep I should be losing over what's in my moistureizer!!!
Thank you for your time....... keep up the good work. God Bless

I loved The Dr. Oz Reports: The Science of Beauty. It was very informative. But I have a question. Dr. Oz mentioned that you can purchase one of those charcoal shower filters at any big store. I went to Home Depot, Walmart and Bed, Bath and Beyond looking for this product. I could not find it anywhere. I found the ones that you attach to your shower head but not the one he was showing where you slip in the filter to your existing shower head. It looked like a huge, huge pill of somekind. It was funny because it seems that a lot of people are looking for the same product in the stores and the stores are clueless. Does anyone know where to find the ones Dr. Oz spoke about?
Today's show was very good. As usual Dr. Oz was great in explaining the science behind every topic. I missed out the crucial information which was given by some lady just before every break on hair styling essentials products and toe caring. I could not find the data here at Oprah.com also. Could you please send me the link where I can find details about this information with th eproducts name she has mentioned.
Thanks.
Because he is a heart surgeon that thinks he knows everything but really doesn't. I'm surprised Oprah didn't have him on during the sex show to tell the expert what she knew was wrong.
Yeah go ahead and delete this Oprah monitors of the board. I am on your list of people to never let post again. Whatever
I look forward to seeing this show, I appreciate most the Oprah shows which have to do with self-growth and self-improvement.
I only wish there were more shows like this.
I have meditated for many years each day, and while I am healing and becoming more aware, I realize I have self-image problem, in that I am overweight and looking in the mirror, see the ravages of time.
I start to look at this aspect of myself, and realize it has to do with how I see myself, my own self-image. It goes down deep, to core beliefs I have about myself.
I am being brutally honest here, to expose this, the main thing I see as a core belief is 'nobody wants me' and also 'i don't want to go', so I keep myself not looking as vibrant and beautiful as I could be, taking bad choices of food, exercise and habits, because there is a part of me that doesn't want to get hurt again.Deep down I don't want to be attractive, because if i am, then i get attention - from men - and then i have to deal with relationship and issues of rejection and being wounded again. This goes to all levels, fat I'm protected and people don't take me serious, or see i have so much to offer. The second part of 'I don't want to go', keeps me isolated, alone, and not participating in soceity, which i tell myself i'm happily alone, which is actually true to a large part. I am never bored and have endless things I'm researching and doing, very happy with myself due to realizatoin of spirtual steps.
What I like to do is look deeper into issues, so now I confront my self-image problem, what are the core beliefs i hold of myself, that keep me looking dumpy and unattractive, which I don't present as a vibrantly alive, thin and healthy being, even when my spirit is so strong that way. For me I am now ready to look at it. so far i look at a curious thing, having to do with individual personalies, or what could be said to be our fight/flight strategies. Each person seems to have a down side - the flight/protect aspect and the fight/defend aspect, which i see then each person holds 2 core beliefs about themselves deep down, which they probably adopted while very young. So I know these two i've identified in myself, are actually the main things which cause me to be overweight and also to prematurely age. Without addressing these core beliefs, i don't see than any beauty treatment or weight loss regime is going to heal me deeply - to make me truly beautiful.
I am interested in doing that now, so investigate looking more deeply at how i see myself, and my actoins to see how they reinforce these beliefs. I recently found out about self-hypnosis (which is way to go into deep meditation), and while 'there' to be able to suggest new images of self to one's raw conscious self using protocols of NLP (neuro linguistic programming). this is still all new to me, but i see it's so much about 'creative visualizatin' of oneself, drawing a new image of oneself on top of the old worn out images one has held for so long.
So my work for today, i promise to myself is to try the self-hypnosis, i found a video on utube for free that puts you in that state of deep meditation, and to work to look more near to myself to see what false beliefs i have about myself that prevent me from being vibrant healthy and alive. This is hard 'personal' work, but I know i'm worth it, so i am willing to do that now. From this i am convinced that real beauty will start to come through, and it won't be due to any product that I use.

I apologize in advance to those who don't like long posts...
Something else came to me about beauty and self-image the other day, which I also investigate on in myself.
That is about body posture and how one can read the personality from it, it was the way I saw my core beliefs by looking at my posture from all angles and seeing my positive and negative body posture images. It is the posture you see when you let your guard down and just let yourself be. Your body doesn't lie, as well your face. Now if we really want to see it, we can look, it's right there in the mirror for us to see ourselves, how we view ourselves internally without the pretending mask. Depending on how you hold your neck, shoudlers, hips, feet, etc., it shows you how you see the world, how you present yourself to the world and most importantly how you see yourself. it was quite a shock for me to see myself so clear. Seeing oneself, knowing oneself, this is the key to make a real change, when you are aware of what the udnerlying problem is. I am looking for books at the library this week on reading body posture, to find out more about it, and how this way we hold our body in shape of energy, affects our outlook on life, and healing, etc.
I hope to do a report about it as I go, from what I have learned through studying myself.
I felt so bad for that beautiful woman suffering with the acne. I know first hand how painful it can be. Diet usually has little to do with it. I saw dermatologists throughout my life until I found an over the counter product that "really" works. It's much better than taking antibiotics to treat the condition. I am not affiliated in any way what so ever. This is a product that will rid her of her problem. It may take time to work, but it WILL work. Wash your face with Oil-Free Acne Wash cream cleanser by Neutrogena. Use this at least two times per day. Also for the bad cystic type acne that has the painful pustules buy the Rapid Clear Acne eliminating spot gel, use both products together. This comes in a little tube. This is expensive, but well worth it. The 2% Salicylic acid is what clears the acne. I am now totally clear. I hope she reads this and finds this helpful. Olay Complete is great for both sun protection and to moisture for faces that suffer from acne. It contains vitamins E and C. I'm not affiliated in any way with this company either. I just hope this helps others. I was very disappointed she didn't get better guidance for the condition. This will work.
Hi!
I am so glad someone mentioned parabens. While I love watching Oprah and Dr Oz, I am suprised that a few things were not mentioned about beauty products. Many products out in the market contain parabens, other toxins and more importantly, mineral oil. Mineral oil is a cheap filler used in my products that is like putting oil on your face, and they prevent the products from being effective. I recently started using a line of herbal/botanical products and have seen a dramatic difference in my skin. These products contain no mineral oil, no animal products and no parabens. I wouldn't use anything else on the market. I'd love to hear more about products that don't contain chemicals and other toxins!
I could identify with the hair test. When I was a teenager, my hair started to fall out in clumps... it was very scary, my family said I looked like a chemotherapy patient. I also had other symptoms, which my mother finally recognized as those of a diabetic. She sent me to the doctor, and sure enough, I was diagnosed with Type-1 (insulin dependent) diabetes. Sadly, although my hair is quite healthy now, it has never returned to it's original thickness.
I go nuts every time I see shows like this. I had acne for 35 years. I am a real person. The acne got horrible when I tried taking myself off birth control pills. I tried Proactiv. IT REALLY WORKS! But, my skin was SUPER sensitive. I could not use the astringent or scrub. The only part of the product I use is the repairing lotion. They make you buy the entire kit the first time but after that they let you just order what you need. This way it is very inexpensive. I use about 3 to 4 bottles of the repair lotion a year. The second thing is that I never put the lotion on dry skin. I use it once a day when I get out of the shower when my skin is saturated with moisture. If I put it on my dry skin, my skin gets blotchy. If I have a stubborn pimple, I give it an extra tiny dot of repair lotion.
My story is this. When I was about 45 years old (6 yrs ago), my face was the worst it had ever been in my life. It was so horribly broken out, my face hurt and I could barely keep from crying (my acne had never been that bad). One Saturday morning, my girlfriend Leslie called and asked if I wanted to go to lunch on Wednesday. I said yes but that she should warn her young daughter that "Auntie" Jane had some boo boo's on her face. I thought that I actually looked scary. I then took a shower. I had started using moisturizer, something someone with acne would never do, but my face hurt so much I just needed to use moisturizer to get relief. As I reached for the moisturizer, I remembered that I had used it up the previous day. I was beside myself. My entire face was burning and red with open acne sores. I was desperate. I began searching through the draws in the bathroom cabinet for anything I could use. There was a bottle of Proactive repair lotion that I had thrown in the draw many months before because there was no way I was putting lotion on my face. But, it was the only thing I had. I put it on my face. It didn't sting. It didn't do much of anything. I did my hair, got dressed and forgot about it. And, I forgot to go out and buy more moisturizer. So, the next day I had to use the Proactive again. I kept using it. By Wednesday, my face was clear. I HAD NO ACNE. This story is abolutely true. Ask my girlfriend Leslie. Jane
