In her first interview since her release from prison, former Olympic golden girl Marion Jones Thompson talks to Oprah about her very public fall from grace, what she learned about herself behind bars and what life is like now that she's back home with her children. Stripped of her medals and on probation, Marion reveals why she lied to a grand jury.

I think the only thing Marion Jones is sorry for, is the fact that she was caught. I don't feel sorry for her, nor for her family or friends.

I feel sorry for her teammates who were stripped of their medals, and more so for her global competitors. Who should have really had the honor to stand on the podium and win gold, silver or bronze? Marion Jones took that honor away from a deserving person. She is absolutely a shameful person, who should never appear on TV.

pmm109,

I agree with most of what you say. Marion Jones (Not MJ, that's Michael Jordan, a true athlete not a cheater) seemed incredibly fake, phony, and lacking any REAL emotion during the Oprah interview. I don't know why Oprah bothered to interview her for an entire show. I hope it wasn't some sort of pre-promotion because If Marion Jones comes out with a book or something else to sell, I am going to puke.

Today's show gets an F in my book. Looking forward to tomorrow's show! Woop woop!

Marion Jones is a lying drug addicted criminal and I feel sorry for her family who must be so ashamed of her.

She is still trying to act all innocent on the show when there is no way I believe that she didn't know what drugs she was taking.

Her history shows she has always tried to get around the system and she doesn't have the talent to win anything on her own since she has been taking performance enhancing drugs since high school. In her school days she regularly skipped drug tests and when she was suspended from the track and field team she hired lawyer Johnnie Cochrane (who else would you hire to get a criminal off) to hget her off drug charges in HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!

Then she actively sought out coaches who were known to give performance enhacing drugs to their atheletes. Trevor Graham had already been under suspicion of drug charges when Marion sought him out as a trainer and his shady deals were widely known in track and field so why else would she seek him out.

Her ex-husband also testifies under oath he had watched Marion inject drugs into her stomach!!!!!!

So at least two people have watched her inject drugs, ahe consorted with several well known dealers of performance enhancing drugs and I wish she was still in jail because she is pretending to be innocent and has not come clean

We know you're a druggie Marion...come clean and tell the truth for once!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. Why didn't Oprah talk about the REAL reason marion went to jail????

Marion went to jail not only for her drug use and lying but also because she was involved in a check cashing scam with former coach Steven Riddick (who was widely known to be associated with atheletes who do drugs...another person Marion sought out to help her take steriods), her agent and her ex-boyfriend.

She is a criminal on many levels and has yet to come clean. I hope her children can change their names, who would want to be associated with a drug-taking, cheque scamming, lying, cheater as a mother.

Of course her teammates deserve some compassion but so do her family and friends, they did nothing wrong.I do happen to feel sorry for her family, especially her children who are innocent. As a matter of fact I think everyone is human and does make mistakes and I'm sure you all know what they say about those who live in glass houses.... so some of you on this board perhaps should not be throwing stones. She broke the law, she paid her debt to society, let her move on.

She is totally unbelievable! After getting out of jail.......why doesn't she doesn't just take responsibility......instead of stating........"this is what i was given"!!!!

Even after serving six months in jail, she still lies? Flaxseed? Please! How stupid does she think we are? The interview is not over - I am hoping that you challenge her on thse lies.

The root of penitentiary is penitence. You are supposed to use the time to reflect on how you arrived there and develop a plan of action ro return to integrity. Lie to the world but never lie to yourself. If you want to regain your self-respect, you have to become more self-reflective.

OK, I'm sitting here, 17 minutes into the interview , and I feel that Marion Jones is full of it. She's still lying. I don't believe for one minute that she didn't know what she was taking. I'm trying to keep an open mind but it's very difficult to sit here and listen to her as she continues her ridiculous explanations.

Oprah - this interview is beneath you! Marion Jones does not deserve an hour on your show to sit there and lie. I am very disappointed that you decided to air this interview. She has no remorse and continues to lie. I feel sorry for her children.

When I first READ about this story, I believed her. Up until now. Watching her continues to enrage me. She is obviously lying. There is no emotion, remorse or anything. Her reasoning behind doing this interview is just like the reasoning behind a child, caught in a lie who keeps asserting their innocence when the proof is evident. She's just trying to convince the world that she really does have talent and she's not a bad person.

The lack of remorse for her team mates is shocking as well. She barely speaks of them or the pain she has caused them. If I had been in the situation, knowingly taking drugs or unknowingly taken them and people who had worked for years to reach that moment had their medals stripped by no fault of their own, I would feel AWFUL! I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that the medals they deserve were taken from them for a selfish choice I had made. Even If I was unaware, I'd feel terrible.

Also, the amount of times she says "Oprah" feels like she knows she's lying and she knows Oprah doesn't believe her.

I find it ironic that we sent Marion Jones to jail for lying to federal prosecutors, but many, many professional atheletes lied as well and are still playing their sport! I am personally proud of Marion for being honest, taking her punishment like a lady and continuing to live her life to best of her ability. I also feel that she was a scapegoat for all pro-sports! When does Barry Bonds do his time?
