I am a victim of incest. I was molested by my father from the age of 6 until I was 13. I prosecuted him when I was 16 (you know, dates, homecoming, prom, going to court against your father and sending him to jail - good times) and he went to jail for 3 years and got out in 1 1/2 years. This was back in 1986. NO ONE came forward and prosecuted at that time. I was one of the youngest in the state of California to bring sexual abuse charges against a family member. I also went forward with a lawsuit and at the time, my lawsuit was the ONLY one regarding sexual abuse that was not appealed. I made huge steps in my life and in the legal system. I would love for all of us to make huge steps now

I work for a large police department in California, and am assigned to a Task Force that investigates Internet Crimes Against Children and Child Exploitation. I can tell you that Oprah's show, as shocking as it was even to me, was right on the money. Flint Waters is amazing, and has done wonders to provide us with tools to combat this evil. But it's not enough. We are swamped. We need more people. We need more technology. We need more vigilance on the part of parents. We need more supervision of kids' activities on the internet, gaming devices, and cell phones. It's right under our noses most of the time and we remain oblivious.

Mostly, though, trust your gut. Don't talk yourself out of the "vibe". If I could impart one message to people it's this: men who show too much interest in your child should raise a red flag. I know that's not PC but I'm in the business of protecting kids and I can tell you that in EVERY case I have investigated, there were HUGE signs. Don't dismiss them for fear of being paranoid or rude. The reality is the vast majority of these offenders is men. And they gain access to their victims by being "trustworthy" and "kind" and "loving" and "great guys." They aren't the boogie man lurking in the bushes. They're your neighbor, your teacher, your coach, and your boyfriend/husband.

maybe if we did to them what they did to the poor children right before we hung them, There should be no jail time. Are justice system is too lenient. We need a justice system like the middle east, Tried convict put to death, not this 5,10 25 yr crap waiting for appeals. Especially for criminals like this, Back in the day this is how our ancestors dealt with criminals

This show was disgusting, disturbing, and sad!!!But, it was exactly what was needed to be seen. I like everyone in the audience was in teras as i heard what theses sick perverts do to children.I am a survivor of sexual abuse and was as Oprah said "groomed" into thinking it was the norm and even my fault.I will most certainly contact my senator and encourage him to pass the protect our kids act!!!

Oprah thank you for making me sick to my stomach and pissing me off enough to make me want to do something about it!

Beacuse, the scariest part about this, is the NORMALIZATION. People who wouldn't have done it before, will now. That means more children are at risk. The sick people who do this will watch it on line, and be so horny they will seek out a child. I was abused as a girl and I know for a fact that if the internet had been around, I would have been on line. The shame would have killed me. This law is helping so much, lets put the fear of god in these people. Hunt them down, expose them, and put them away forever or death.

I can do my best to teach and protect my 3 year old and 5 year old from the bad guys. But I know I can't always be there. But I promise you- I will be there for your child when I can. I may not know you, but I promise that if I see your child with someone that doesn't sit well with me- I will stay. I will not leave them. I will not ever leave your child. Please promise me that should you ever see a child- my child, or anyone else's child- you will not leave them. If your instict tells you something isn't right- STAY! Don't ever leave them. We are all in this together. I love your child and will do what I can to protect them. Please join me and promise me that you will never leave a child when your gut tells you something's not right (like when your red flags go up because a strange man is lurking around an unattended child in the park- go over there- even if you feel awkward because maybe it's a relative of the child. I will NEVER be mad at you for questioning the safety of my child.
Keep up to date with your local sex offenders.

Be on guard even when all seems safe.

Dear Oprah,

I applaud your bravery at tackling an issue that is the core of evil itself. However I wonder if the detail that you described of how to molest, gave any would be molesters ideas. I have been physically, mentally and emotionally in turmoil since I saw your show. Your show left me with the same sort of feeling I had after Sept 11. How am I supposed to go on with my day to day life knowing that all these children are suffering in unimaginable ways. I wrote my congress men, but that action seems miserably insufficient. Are there other ways we can help protect children in our area?
I am desperate for a way to help, but I don't know how.

"I saw what I saw and I can't forget it.
I heard what I heard and I can't go back.
I know what I know and I can't deny it .

Something on the road, cut me to the soul.

Your pain has changed me
your dream inspires
your face a memory
your hope a fire
your courage asks me what I'm afraid of
and what I know of love "
- lyrics by sara groves from the song "I Saw What I Saw"

As an abused child, I can say your heart is almost in the right place. And it isn't an IDEA its babys being RAPED. Technology is growing faster then our laws, and we do need to step up. Will you?

It's about time this subject is brought forward.I was in tears the entire show. PROTECT OUR KIDS!!!!!

I am in comlete shock and ultimate disgust after watching this show. I couldn't imagine the evil in people to touch and innocent child let alone newborn babies. I recently had my first son in december on 2007. I look at him and cant fathom somebody violating him in the middle of the night while I am sleeping . I am a resident of Ontario, Canada and I am willing to fight for this to the very end. I am making myself aware of the information locally to be able to be a voice for those you babies that don't. I am wondering if anyone has any additional information I could use.

Thanks again, Oprah, for bringing this very sick and sad matter out in the open. My father molested me when I was 9 yrs old and I found out years later that he was molesting his neighbor/friends' daughter for years. I don't know where my father is today but if he's not in jail, my stomach turns to think that he is probably out there molesting children.

I have sent the letter to both my NJ Senators. This bill must pass!

Thank you, Roseann

I am deeply disturbed by yesterday's show! As a mother of three young children, I am horrified to hear of such atrocities happening to children right in our own backyards. I couldn't sleep last night thinking about all of those helpless children, particularly little babies. God bless the people who have dedicated their lives and careers to bring these predators to justice. I think every one of these monsters should be hunted down and either put away forever or killed. I am in full favor of the death penalty for anyone who harms a child. As a society I think we should be outraged and refuse to accept this for one more minute!! I am going to write to both of my Senators tonight and encourage them to pass the legistation needed to go after these predators.

It is called HIATUS. Yes, she has been on HIATUS. For a long time, and I hope she always does! So she can keep up the good work, and her show is on forever. Lets hope that the Goverment is willing to pass this bill before they go on... HIATUS! And the little BABY being raped doesn't care. Are you going to help??? Or is politics more important??? As a victim, a mother, and a human. I hope you can help and have the heart, to do so.
