I look forward to seeing the show; this is my own opinion, but I think both John and Patsy Ramsey were crucified by the media and the whole investigation was sloppy at best. The persecution was relentless and the scrutiny must've been unbearable. It got so bad at one point I thought the Ramsey's had to be guilty. There was even a made-for-TV-movie which made it seem as if the Ramsey's were guilty of their own daughter's death -- it was in very bad taste. i couldn't even watch the whole film. The more I discovered, the more I felt they were innocent. What an awful thing that must've been for that family to endure given the brutality of the murder of their sweet, little child. I learned that you can't always believe what you hear and see. I pray the people who put the Ramsey's through Hell have remorse in their hearts and see the injustice of what they did and step up and apologize. I feel for John Ramsey for having to wait 12 years to be cleared of involvement in his own daughter's murder, and also feel for him that he has lost not only one, but two of his children through very tragic circumstances. Anyhow, what a travesty of justice. May God have His loving arms around JonBenet and Patsy and also Elizabeth.

I am thankful the other children on the show, (I guess they're young adults now) Elizabeth and Shawn, escaped with their lives, though I know their ordeals were absolutely nightmarish for them. I pray they have been able to heal from the awful scars of the abductions and they are able to live normal lives now, if possible. God bless you and keep you.

I'm sorry the Ramseys have suffered so much. I believe the media owes them an apology and Colordo too. The killer is no where to be found while everyone was focus on the Ramseys. What a sad story.

Is it me or is Elizabeth Smart in denial? She is quite lovely, beautiful, spiritual-but things don't seem quite right with her. Like she is going to explode one day. I pray for her and her family. But I think they all need long-term professional medical help.

Not that women don't abuse but its a mans world. It occurs to me that the laws are not as strict as they could or should be because men protect their own. This has shown itself time and time again, from the cops who protect each other when one of them is an abusive husband, to the judge who gives someone a leniet sentence because the offender is someone he knows, is well known in the community or would be "embarressed" if word got out.

some people are sick, this is true but most times, they are not so sick that they don't try to hid their tracks or their crime. If someone is aware enough to try to hide their crime from the law or to deceive the world of his wrong doing, then he is sane enough to be justly punished. The couple who took Elizabeth SMart hid ... they planned and shemed, so they knew what they were doing so they know enough now to be punished for it. They should be standing trial now....they are competent enough.

But the reality is, the law needs to be tougher on sex offenders. A victim is forever affected by the abuse. Just becuase there are no physical scars, doesn't mean you're not hurting or dealing with the aftermath of the abuse, for the rest of your life. Offenders need to be punished for life...so for one, they don't offend again, and two, so the punishment can fit the crime, becuase believe me, the scars follow the victim for life.

Rehabilitation is a farce....its been stated that sex offenders are the only offenders who can't be rehabiliated. I believe that. They need to be castrated or put away for life. Given the opportunity, they typically offend again. We see this time and time again. The first time offender is not someone who offended for the first time, but some one who was only caught for the first time.

We are definitely failing our kids on this issue.

I agree that Elizebeth Smart is in denial. At 14 I was kidnapped and brutely raped. I to was kidnapped by both a man and a woman. I knew the woman involved in my case. I was missing for only 5.5 hours. I had to undergo extensive therapy. And today i am a 27 year old mother of 2. and let me tell yall that to this day i have flash backs. And like her i have tried to live my life as normal as possibe. But there are days that it just dont work. So for her to say that she has moved on with her life is wrong. I think that she is still in the denial stage of what happened to her. she was in the spot light and maby she feels like she needs to be strong. But at one pint in her life she will break. And it will come crashing down on her. fortunitaly that has already happened to me. But it is something that I will never get over. and it is always in my mind. I think that she needs to realize that she has not yet delt with the issues. And some advise to Elizebeth, relations ships with men are hard. And sex is most of the time unbearable. I just pray that you address the issues that you have pushed deep down inside. They need to come out. You can pretend for only so long. you dont have to be strong anymore. Truley deal with it and then and only then can you move on with your life. But keep in mind that it will never be the same. You can ever go back to the way it was. just to add the rapest in my case got life with no parol and the woman in my case only got one year in prison. she is now living in my community . She is some one that i have to come face to face with in the grocery store. Now that is a hard lump to chew.

I think the show was great because we could see how everyone has gotten along since thier tragic stories. While everyone deals with things like this differently, it seems as though there is so much inside Elizabeth Smart. It is like she is strangely calm about her experience. I did agree that you can't allow to let things rule your life. The Ramsey story is very sad. It is hard to believe that no one knows really what happen to her. Her parents were such advocates to find the killer. I do believe they are worthy of an apology. I can see with the things that have happened in cases similar to this why the authorities always look to the parents but that isnt always true.

Hey I didn't read the rules. Sorry. But I hope you don't remove my post as California lead the nation in parents killing their kids. See the "Kids Killed" section at the earlier mentioned website on family law courts. (See, I'm getting better!).

Hello, In regards to this(The Ramsey Case) , Isn't Mr and the late Mrs. Very rich and powerful in the state of Colorado? I apologize for possibly not being in the know, but can we assume Mr. Ramsey is completely broke. And has exausted all his and anyone else favors he could beg for from the world. Did I miss a begging and crying Mr. and Mrs Rasey and I believe son. I ask this because I'm am most positive I would not rest , untill I had spent all possible resourses I could muster. And I would welcome and thank the media for asking all the difficult questions they could. And welcome all comspiracy theories if I hit a dead end . The media often in the past, too many times failed us in not asking powerful individuals the difficult questions. If he has any money left , I'm sorry but he still has to be under suspecion . Case in point the man who came from Europe to search fopr his son and spent all he had forgoing sleep and rest even to petition the suspected killer for his sons whereabouts. Until his intensity paid off and hie sons killer admitted to the fact and gave him the exact place where he was buried. In fact the man was from Israel . This was a case of true devotion and love for his son even leaving his wife and begging for volunteers. This is why a father would not nor could not rest until there was closure. And only opening up to authorities immediatly to allow for a full investigating even if it meant going under the microscope could this poor child have had her killer brought to justice. This in my case ,was obstruction of justice. The media is not owed his forgiveness. They should be held responsible for not risking all to pressure a quicker and more clearer investigation. I as a father of children would have wanted everyone to do all they could and my wife or I would have been convicted if she had harmed my daughter and if not by elimination would have allowed the Colorado police department to intensify there search elsewhere. Kid gloves nomore, this little one deserves justice.

Correct me if im wrong but around the same time Elizabeth Smart was kidnaped there was a younger African American girl around the age of 7 who was kidnaped by two drug users, and the amazing thing was that she chewed through the ropes that they tied her up with and ran all the way home which was like a mile away. And there were no news reports about it on any of the major television networks im just sayin.

Today's show was very moving. I've always had very strong feelings on the subject. I must say, though, I really, really wish that Mr. Ramsey would have shared with us more of what Jon Benet was like. For instance, was she warm, affectionate, funny, a very happy child? Was there something unusual about her as a child (positive)? I mean, was she gifted in some way? I wish he could have given us more insight as to who she was as an individual.

Also, I absolutely "L-O-V-E-D" Oprahs earings!!!!

Seems to me you're right on target. Having lived in Utah, and unaware of parental alienation until I got into Family Court...I was amazed how quickly she was brainwashed. Am no in the San Diego area where they camped out for the winter. When the male kidnapper was arrested for breaking into a church, his wife went looking for him when he didn't return after a couple of days...leaving Elizabeth alone. People couldn't initially understand why she didn't flee. Parental alienation is like the Stockholm Syndrome. Very scary stuff. Happens all the time in family court. In fact it's responsible for a ton of litigation on that very issue.

Elizabeth Smart reminds me, an awful lot, of Patty Hurst. I thought that Patty milked the situation but THIS kid is much worse. At least Patty really was abducted (in the begining). This kid willingly went with the guy.

Look, I understand that the guy was wrong. a child cannot legally give consent but this is one of those precocious, sneeky, chicks that screws things up for everybody. Instead of having John Ramsey on with her, it would be more fitting to put her on with that "Runaway Bride" that got Mexican Men locked-up (No one EVER interviewed any of them) and would have gotten her Fiance locked-up as well. Another crazy chick that would be more appropriate to share the stage with Elizabeth Smart, would be Susan Smith (the one who sent the police locking-up Black Men wearing hats, because that was the description that she gave of the perp whom "stole her children" after she'd killed them - NO ONE EVER interviewed ANY of the men who were locked-up for questioning on that case either).

Think about it.
