My 3month old son didn't go "ca ca" for a month and 2wks, without enemas, .after taking the vac for rotavirus. The doctors all refused to see a connection even though it was immediately after vaccine. My daughter had a previous reaction to her 18 month shots, though I didn't make the association until recently. I am planning on not getting anymore shots. I have researched the web thoroughly and just wanted to know if you guys have found any precautions or extra stuff I need to do to keep my three children safe. I so appreciate such familar faces standing up for all of our kids. I don't have the money or resources to make a deference, except in my family.

Dear Holly and Jenny, Thank you SO MUCH for drawing attention to a very serious problem. As the mother of a 5 year old boy with high functioning autism, I was thrilled with the show today. Most shows I seen on autism leave me seething because they keep saying vaccines are safe- NOT!!! My son was fine until his MMR, and I have flat refused to immunize my younger son. I am the mother of 4, and until the vaccine program is overhauled, it will be a VERY cold day before my children ever get them again. I am not anti vaccine, but some children just should not receive them. Plus putting aluminum, fomaldehyde and MERCURY in vaccines is just plain STUPID!!!! Thanks for mentioning the GFCF diet, parents need to know about it. I just wish the insurance companies could be made to pay for the treament of autistic children. So many of us out here are scraping to get by, and our children are denied medical care they should receive just because they are autistic. This is blatant discrimination, and yet it is allowed to happen! I really felt vindicated after watching your show, and I was touched by Jenny's comments about how single mothers feel. My spouse and I are separated, and I have had those thoughts many times. Oprah, thank you for having the courage to let Jenny and Holly have their say about vaccines. Most talk shows cave in to pressure and don't have the guts to say anything. You ladies rock!

I was watching to show today and was so surprised when Jenny mentioned that she believed that there was a connection to the immunization shot and the Autism. My son was diagnosed several years ago with ADHD and the day he got this disorder is the day he reeived his one year old shot. That is the day he changed. He was sleeping through the night when he was 3 weeks and was an easy child. The day he received his shot he started waking in the middle of the night. His personality changed that day and he became much more hyper and hard to handle. Not one doctor would listen to me when I told them the day he changed. It was not a gradual thing but an immediate change. I have mentioned it to several doctors but like Jenny and Holly said they have no information concerning that. I think that someone should do a study and find out what the pecentage is of children getting Autism or HDHD after their shots. There must be correlation and it needs to be proven for the medical experts to find out why and make a change that will elliminate the results of aquiring a disorder when having your child immunized.

I live in Canada and i have been going in the other direction from the doctors. I was given no hope for Adam but I didn't need to be given hope. I had hope and I had love and I was and still am to determined to free him from the world he is locked into. I am starting a foundation here in our little community - It will be named for the light in my life and will be called the Adam Can Foundation - forging hope for those living with autism. I believe in love and I don't settle. I am greedy. I want his smile, I want to have a conversation with him and you know what, I am getting it all back. I run a controversial program called the Son rise program. Controversial because it is based on the simplest of things - LOVE. Well, it's healing Adam and that is all that matters. Do whatever you thinks works for you and please don't bash others who do differently. Focous on your special beautiful children. Thanks Jenny and Holly. The only difference between you and me is your celebrity and I applaud you for getting up there and using it to help other families experience hope.

Jenny and Holly,
I am a special education teacher in a large district who teaches in a building designated as the Autism building. We struggle everyday with a staff and leadership within the district that simply doesn't get it! I have heard teachers say that so and so is just a brat! Of course I am quick to say no he is a child with Autism and you need to know that what he is doing is wonderful. My heart goes out to both of you for getting the word out about the disorder. Holly, I had someone at the door when you spoke about your son in school, being told that he was not teachable. Our building has a couple students who are what doctors and others say are pretty severe, being the building designated for Autism we have limitation put on us by the principal, building space and other political things that go along with education. I would ask that you when spreading the message about Autism would consider advocating for public schools to have more funding to educate. I also see the need for students currently attending college to become a teacher be trained more about students with special needs. Currently, in the state of Iowa anyway when a teacher graduates they have only taken one introduction course to special education to become a general education teacher. Now as a special education teacher I struggle to get students with learning disabilities into the general education classroom when they could be because of acceptance. Too many times I have heard he's too distracting to his classmates! I applaud your courage and admire your strength. Thanks for being a voice for those who need to be heard.

My name is Gina, I don't have a child that has autism. My interests are more focused on prevention. I have a 14month old son and a 15 yr old son, and I've noticed that certain medical practices have changed. I've never felt comfortable with the live virus vaccinations. What can we do to protect or children ? Are there vaccines out here that are safer w/o Thrimesol ?? Or vaccines w/o live viruses that can be JUST as effective ?? How do we approach our physician with these demands??

I'm extremely concerned. My 14 month old had a horrible to a combo vac given during his 12 month visit. I had a bad feelin ( just like Jenny made reference to ) , and I questioned my son's doctor.....he ignored me !!! I was so angry !! I want to do everything to protect my children, but I want concrete information. I truly believe that there are some things the government doesn't want us to know about its pharmaceutical practices.

Finally, I must commend ur strength and love for ur child !! Stay strong, continue the fight and always listen to ur heart when it comes to ur children.

Love

Jenny & Holly,

I just wanted to say thank you for your courage and honesty on the Oprah show today. You both helped tear down some of the walls that mainstream medicine, big Pharma and our governmental agencies like CDC & FDA have erected against our children (and especially against us 'Mercury Moms').

We are with you all the way and will not stop until we get the answers to recover all of these precious children and to prevent this from happening to children in the future.

Remember, well-behaved women rarely make history! So keep making those media appearances and boldly speaking out on behalf of our children. We are so PROUD of you both and wish your families all the best.

Warmest regards,

Hello~ Thank you for your show today, you really sparked a lot of questions for me to start looking into! I have a few questions for you first, I'm wondering what is the best resource to learn more about the gluten-free dairy free diet and second I'm wondering what the "window" is. I heard you refer to it a couple of times but when you started to talk about it my daughter changed the channel on me. Thank you so much and again I really appreciate what you're doing! Sincerely, Jennifer Austin, TX

Today I had seen her and told her about the book, and she started to cry. They have been dealing with it for at least 10yrs. I would like to say thank you, and hope it because helpful for her.
