I am so tired of the refrain (never fully thought out by the majority of Christians) that "He DIED For YOUR SINS."
Jesus DIED BECAUSE of our sins.
Who would have wanted to live more than Jesus himself? Meister Eckhard (1260-1327) was a theologian and a so-called "mystic" and I don't find it odd that Eckhard Tolle shares part of his name. M.Eckhard preached about looking within rather that looking to authority, just as Jesus did. He was put to death for his beliefs in spite of tremendous popularity.
the anti christ, the devil, satan,, etc, etc is all the creation of the church to put fear in people, to supress people, to stop people from growing spiritually.
There is no anti christ but the one that you create within you to hide from a spiritual connection with yourself, and all your guides around you.
Why is everyone so defensive? Why do you all feel threatened by each others faith?
Yes lucygab, I came to the same conclusion that everyone who has responded to this thread that they are defensive and do they feel threatened, seems like it to me but maybe they aren't,just misunderstood. The most read book of the Earth comes from the writings of the human hand and the stories of the Almighty. I wont dispute the teachings .It has been written of the great coming. This book A New Earth is just a tool to help us along. If it helps you that is great,if it doesn't then let it alone and go back to where you get the most affirmation. The Coming is coming so we better be prepared. How you find strength and peace to live in harmony is yours and yours alone.JUST FIND YOUR PEACE!!!!!! ccoopee
Yes, we are ALL God's children. However, we messed up. We chose sin. He wants to have a relationship with us but because He is so Holy, He cannot be with us in our sin. So, He said He was sending His Son. A Son that would die for our transgressions. And then, Jesus called Himself that Son and said He was the ONLY Way to the Father. And then he died and rose again! No other person has ever defeated death! None! So, it is written that if we just believe in Jesus as our Savior, then we can have a relationship with the Father through Him.
God said it. Jesus said it. No one has ever been able to disprove the Bible and historians against Christianity have even found proof that the Bible is truth.
So, you can take your chances and deny Christ all day if you want. It doesn't change Who He is. As since He claims that He is the Only Way, those of you that don't accept Him do not have access to God. Your sin is not forgiven. Your sin keeps you separated from God. God said that.
If you have never read the Bible, please pick it up and read it. There is so much more in there than those few verses you use to try to argue with Christians. They won't work, because you have taken them out of context to use for your way and not in the way Christ intended. Only those that eat of His Flesh and drink of His Blood will have a relationship with His Father. That means, you have to accept Him for Who He said He Is and take Him in. He is not in you without your opening the door.
"God said it. Jesus said it. No one has ever been able to disprove the Bible and historians against Christianity have even found proof that the Bible is truth."
Correction: no one has every been able to prove that the bible is true or that words attributed to Jesus and God were actually said.
Non-Christian historians have proved that Jesus existed. They continue to prove things that people thought were impossible. These historians are not biased. Also, many atheists set out to prove the Bible wrong and ended up becoming Christians. HMMMMMM.
Innocent until proven guilty. So, the burden of proof is on those that want to disprove it.

I didn't say that Jesus didn't exist. I'm simply pointing out that there is no way to prove that the words attributed to him or to God as stated in the bible are true or not. That's why it's called "faith", not "fact". You make a claim that something is true, you need to prove your claim. So far, that hasn't been done.
You are so right!!... If Oprah doesn't change she will have much to answer for , As she not only turned from Christ she is using the blessing he allowed her to have to destroy thousands if not millions.
wow, you are very judgemental.
gee, perhaps it is time you need to start finding peace with your own belief, and stop judging others and pretending that you know the truth and the only way.
Hello hediedforu,
Thank you for sharing your belief with us. I would like to ask you a question based on the bible:
Luke 10: 25-28
25And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
So in Jesus own words we need only do 2 things to inherit eternal life. How do you reconcile that in your mind with John14:6?
I'll tell you my take on it. Luke 10:25-28 gives us specific actions that Jesus tells us will bring everlasting life. Nothing more and nothing less. In John 14:6 Jesus is telling us that I am the way (his daily actions), the truth (the demonstration of his teachings - walking the talk) and the life (eternal life through practical daily application - of what - his teaching in Luke 10:25-28). No one comes to the Father (God) except through Me. (except through the way of life that I have shown you through My actions which demonstrate the Truth).
For me if I don't interpret it that way then I have to ask how can Jesus contradict himself? Who's right Luke or John? And then a whole host of questions comes.
I would like for you to share with me how you reconcile that for yourself.
Much love,
Peter

Jesus Christ is the only way. John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6 (NKJV) Oprah, I am sorry that you have been deceived, seek Him while He may still be found.Hi Fleckman,
Thank you so much for your perspective on The Way. I find your interpretation of this verse to be consistent with how the earliest followers of Jesus practiced their path. The earliest followers of Jesus identified themselves as following "The Way." And the earliest "gospels," which they used, were collections of the teachings of Jesus like the non-gnostic layer of the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of Q.
These earliest gospels didn't have any narrative at all, just teachings. Most of the non-gnostic layer of the gospel of Thomas is also used by Mark in the first biographical gospel. (and the Q gospel as well as Mark were the sources for Matthew and Luke). And your interpretation that Jesus pointed to an internal transformation in his teachings, his deeds, and his life as the way is corroborated by Mark's gospel. Substitutional atonement, which was developed and promoted heavily by Paul, is only mentioned briefly in one verse in the whole book of Mark. I have the impression that some Christians today might brand Mark as "not a real Christian."
One additional corroborating point is that when historical Jesus scholars try to use a rigorous discipline to identify the historical words of Jesus, they pull together the early and multiply attested sayings out of the 522 sayings and stories about Jesus. That is not to say that a very late and singly attested saying could not be historical. But they pull those together to see what picture emerges if only the multiply attested sayings are included. Using this methodology, most of the book of John is excluded because it was written very late and almost all of it is singly attested.
Thank you again Fleckman for your comments, Student99

I love the Gospels of St Thomas. They have helped me so much in knowing that Death is so necessary. We have the power within ourselves to never cross the threshold of Death ever again. Also in giving up the need for death we are also one step closer to the conscious energy beings that we truly are.
