turning a kitchen white

I love the set up of my kitchen and the countertops but i dislike the dark wood used for the cabinets. Any ideas on the best way to turn it white? I'm assuming there are only 2 options - painting or buying new cabinets. Needlesstosay, we are on a tight budget so less expensive options are the only way we can go. Any advice is so appreciated!!

Your best option is to buy a paint gun. Runs about 200+. Sand the cabinets down and repaint. We will be doing this in the next month or so. Very inexpensive.
