I suggest reading some reviews about this book (for example reviews on BN) before purchasing this book. Oprah's influence always gets me wanting to do what the newest thing on her show is, but the reviews were pretty bad.

I eat a lot of low fat cheese and yogurt but my favorite way to get extra calcium is to snack on Mrs May's sesame snacks. Six or seven pieces have 30% daily value of calcium plus they're a good source of iron. They're not low fat but it's a good fat and one serving is very satisfying. I also love the almond version too.

On today's show, Mon Sept 17, featuring Dr. Oz & Bob Greene,Oprah mentioned that Dr. Oz had a three part series on the Discovery channel, starting this evening. I have checked the TV listings, and it is not on our schedule, at least not tonight.
Could you tell me what the name of the Dr. Oz 3-part series is, and I will keep trying to locate it.
Loved the show and all the "great-for-your-lifetime" info. Thank you very much. JG

WOW! I can never get enough of Dr. Oz. I am a 22 year old college student and gained 15 pound last year when I moved into an apt on campus. I lost 60 pounds in high school and I was VERY unhappy that I let my hard work go to waste by eating so bad. I am not back on my diet and have lost 13 pounds. I have gotten back to eating fresh fruits and veggies and gave away my Easy Mac. I freaking LOVE when these shows come on. I really want to take care of my body so I can live a healthy life. I loved hearing the part of the show about stress relief....I was eating baked fish while this section was showing and this week is when all the tests start...I can use all the stress relievers out there. I LOVE YOU DR. OZ!!!!

I have begun making smoothies in my blender to get the full benefit of my fruits and veggies. I find it is easier to drink the raw veggies than eating them in a salad. Plus cooking kills most of the enzymes the body needs.

I put everything in my smoothies. My hair, nails and skin look great for 46 most be think I am in my early 30s.

I have increased my intake of fish, and elminated all other meats.

I agree, when I checked the ingredient lists on what I could find of the products Bob Greene recommends they were way too high in salt too (along with the just the high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils you mentioned). I'll stick with what Dr. Oz says. Love him. I wish Oprah would do a show about how much nutrition there really is in some of our fruits and vegetables - scientifically checked. I've heard a lot about how depleted in nutrients the soil is, how dangerous chemicals/fertilizers get into the food etc. I would like to know what the REAL story is - from someone trustworthy - Like Dr. Oz. How healthy is our food supply Dr. Oz?
Another question I have is about liver. My husband loves liver, and I was always told it is a great source of iron, but considering what the function of the liver is - is it really healthy to eat?
What does Dr. Oz. think about organic food? Is it much better or just more expensive?

I watched Oprah & Dr. Oz today and found it so interesting and inspiring. My only trouble with the encouragement to eat so many fruits and vegetables (and I love fruit especially and crave them BUT....trying to live on a very limited income is a big problem when you get to the produce and fruit section. I would love to be able to eat all those vegetables and fruit......have you or Dr. Oz shopped lately? Fruit is soooo expensive. Blue berries, just a small carton $3.00 to $3.50 (I love berries) BUT...and produce is very expensive. Any suggestions for trying to live on a budgeted selection? HELP!!!

I wonder when people are going to get it....EAT CLEAN...it's as simple as that. Get back to foods from the ground. Stop buying foods that are in boxes. Foods from boxes...do you really think that junk in one box is better than the junk in another??
I'd like Dr. Oz to mention to people to eat Acidophilus instead of yogurt. I'd like him to tell people to eat more organic foods. I'd like him to tell people to cleanse...cleanse your bowel, your lungs, your liver, your kidneys...
AND PLEASE...Tell the people that cereal in a box is GARBAGE!!!!

*I was really happy to hear him talk about flax seeds...ground flax seeds...can go on your oatmeal, on your salads, in your acidophilus, in your omelet, in your protein shakes, in your meatloaf...

I want Bob Greene to tell people that exercise is good but pushing your body when you exercise is even better!!! Push your limits!!! It drives me crazy to see people at the gym doing the same exercise with the same weights day in and day out. Their body never changes and they don't understand why they aren't losing. The body needs to be pushed and needs change. Your body remembers and gets used to things really quickly.

**And yes, this is a great start. Thanks Dr. Oz. I do love watching you....while I do cardio at the gym. :-)
