A couple gave up their dream house to give three girls a second chance. Watch Nate do what no one thought possible. It's the biggest makeover in Oprah Show history!

i love these shows. its so inspiring! i dont know if nate reads these or not but i'm going to put it out there anyways, i have a close friend of the family that her and her husband were just involved in a motorcycle accident last weekend. Jennifer and Aaron were permanently injured, her losing her left leg from the knee down and Aaron losing his left foot. They have a 3 year old son and i know that they will definently need some special modifications to their home when they return home from the hospital. They also lost their best friends in the accident, a driver crossed the middle line and hit Jen and Aaron first mangaling his foot and Jen's leg. The woman then hit their friends head on and were killed instantly. This is a very deserving family, they are good Christian people that have had their world turned upside-down. They have no idea i'm even posting this. I would love it if you considered them. If you need more info contact me...my name is amy...i hope you can locate my email thru this site! thank you so much for all your help with every family you haved helped and God Bless!

How is Nate a genious? If you have enough un-ending financial resources, a moron could re-do a home also. Oh, the poor family had to live in a furnished apartment while they waited for the home to be finished. Oprah is loosing all credability with me. This show utterly makes me sick. We are struggling and struggling. People are loosing their homes by the minute. UGH!!!!

Hi Nate,

You and Oprah do such wonderful things and I know there are so many needy and deserving families! I wonder would you consider helping my brother and his family. They never ask for anything but I know how much he worries about his family. My brother has had Lupus for 20 years and has had cancer in the past couple years. He is only 44 years old. He served in the Marine Corps and also for the Sheriff's Dept. before he was too sick to work. He has 3 small children and a wife who has stood by his side the entire time. She struggled to put her self through school and take care of their three children and him at the same time. Their house is very small for children ages 11, 14 and 16. The boys even have to share a bed but they never complain! He has had everything known to Man associated with Lupus. The doctors have told him they don't know why he is still alive and frankly I don't either. He recently had a stroke and is almost blind and I worry about what is going to happen to them. We know he is at the end of his disease and I know he would have some inner peace if he knew that he was leaving something behind for them. Could you help us make that happen for their family?? He would leave this earth a happy man!

Thank You So Much!

God Bless You.

I just watched the Oprah Show where Nate remodeled a home. It was amazin!! Oprah asked if we knew of anyone that could use some help and we do in our small town of 800 people. We are in south central Nebraska amidst cornfields and cattle. but we have a wonderful life here. We have a family in town that has a daughter who suddenly got sick when she was a little girl ( she will go into the fourth grade next year) and has been in a wheelchair ever since. They accept whatever comes their way. Donna's son and daughther- in- law are both in the service and they just had a baby. He will go overseas in June and his wife will go later this year. The family in Bertrand will take care of the baby while the parents are away serving their country. Everyday is an extreme effort for this family but they deal with it like everything will be ok and now grandma is going to take care of a newborn also. They are an amazing family.Their house is in need of a makeover, if someone could help them it would be wonderful. Jane Tonjes-- a neighbor and friend.

DOC,

It's obvious that you are very unhappy with your life and lifestyle. It is up to no one but yourself to change that. You shouldn't feel entitled to receive help from Oprah, Nate or anyone at that. This family was very fortunate to receive this tremendous gift from Nate. I am delighted for them. I feel you are terrible to post what you did. "the most amazing family of 6 that actually had it pretty nice." !?!?! Who are you to judge whether their situation is nice or not. You have no idea what that family has really gone through, and neither do I, but I am thrilled that they have had this amazing transformation in their lives. They appear to be very deserving, as you appear not to be. No matter how awful your situation is, you should not be stomping on their parade, and much less stating on the Oprah website that you feel you are in a worse situation. After reading your post, I can understand why you haven't been chosen for Oprah to help you or your family out. If you are such a pessimist why do you even bother watching Oprah and why do you engage on her website? I am sorry for you that you choose to have such a negative disposition on life. I hope that you can learn to change your outlook. I am sure if you did, things would improve in your life.

Wishing you the best,
HFH

Hi! I just watched the show with my son Patrick who is 15 and we were so thrilled for the family getting the make over house. Wow, I love to watch make overs and they always make me cry, so does reunion shows. Oprah just let me say I think you are so inspirational and you make people feel good about who they are and I love when you say, everyone has a story. I think of that now all the tine when I look around or driving, wondering "what is there story"? We have a little bit of a story. In 1984 I married a wonderful man Sam. We have 2 son's, James and Patrick now 15 and 19. In 2000 Sam came down with what we thought was the flu. He was running a high fever but refused to miss work so he took the Tylenol and off he went. This was on Monday. On Wednesday he woke with 106 fever, I made him get in the tub. He still planned on going to work but promised me he would be home early. I called him several times and he said he was feeling better and felt like eating lunch. Sam arrived home at 6:50. The boy's were at Church. Sam said he felt better, even had a Big Mac for lunch. I asked " why a big mac, you haven't eaten, you shouldn't of had a big mac". He said " well it didn't settle too well but I don't feel too bad" Then he went in and laid down. I asked " why are you laying down if you feel better"? He said " I will lay here till you come back with the boy's and then I will eat". I gave him a kiss, said : I love you , and I turned around and I heard him gasp. Sam suffered a massive heart attack age 36, died instantly. James and Patrick were 7 and 11. I had to get someone to go pick them up at Church. Then I had to sit and tell the boy's there father passed away. It was the Lord that got me through. Sam and I had an appointment to go get life insurance when he passed away. The agent felt so bad, he felt maybe he could of gotten us in earlier. Wonderful man. I couldn't think about it. Then I thought we had insurance to pay off the home if something happen to Sam. Nope, paper's were never signed when we re- financed. James Senior year 2006 on a routine check up we learned James had a brain tumor. They had to operate immediately to remove a large tumor attached to his pituitary. They had to remove his pituitary. We were blessed it wasn't cancer. But James is going under complete hormone replacement. I have 2 wonderful son's!!! I was very blessed to have the time I did with such a wonderful man. The boy's and I live in the country of Applegate Michigan. Have you heard of it?? haha We are north of Port Huron. We have a trailer and the boy's share a bedroom that is very small. I love my trailer but I wish I could afford to decorate and give the boy's there space. James wants to go to Kendall College in the fall for Art but it will depend if the Lord will provide the money for housing. Patrick is a huge Sports Fan... Detroit Piston's. "McDyess" is his favorite player. I am so sorry this is so long, I better close now. Thank you for listening. Patty, James and Patrick

How are the people whose homes you have re done coping with the increase in property taxes on their new homes? Every home has increased in square footage so this means taxes must go up. Hopefully they are doing well. It was so wondrously touching to see the girls faces on today's show. The happiness in the faces each person in this family showed was worth its weight in gold. Thanks Nate and Oprah.

This was a "home makeover" not a "app rent makeover". I'm glad they had that wonderful makeover.

I hope that some of the shows could be "rent app makeover", several could be make for one show, as it cost less

to refurbish an app then to redo a home ....

I also hope the family on the show won't have to many problems with the hike their tax on the home will now take.

Did the producers think about that ? If the family barely get by before, how will they manage a 2x or 3x on their taxes ?

Before I read Eckhard Tolle's book The New Earth. I know that I would have sent a ugly reply, But the bottom line is that none of us are getting out of this life alive. Were all in this together to the end of our human exsistance. If you have a substandard life we have not waken yet, its all an illusion made up in the ego mind of man. We have chosen every step we have made in our lives wheather we beleive it or not. Before the secret I lived in one bedroom with two other people now less than two years later I live in 4 bedroom two bath. make 50.000 or more when I lived off less than 600. How did i get there? I just beleived it and I am not atttached to it. This cancer may take me, but it may not, after its all an illusion, what you beleive. This I know for sure.

Im glad to hear about that family, it really made me smile thinking that they are going to be so happy in that new house.

My story is I live with My brother and his girlfriend for awhile know. and i kinda feel im taking half there space sometimes. We have two small bedrooms, with hardly anyroom and a small bathroom, you cant even take baths in. They recently had a baby boy, and he will need his own room, but his girlfriend has 3 other girls that she wants them to move in with, but there is no room. There is harldy any room for then to play when they come visit, they cant go in the back yard becasue we have a dog they are scared of and our trailer is much to small. The floors are torn and the house is just a mess. There is just no room.We harldy pay our bills on time because shes a stay at home mother and my brother works full time, its complicated, we can hardly afford groceries half the time, and things for the baby. We need help!!I want them to have their perfect dream house instead of having to live in a small trailer.

Thanks, Amy

I just finished watching this episode, and it's great that there are people like Nate who do this sort of thing for others. It would be great though to see someone who house is literally falling apart get help! I'm 32 yrs. old and my parents have been living in the same house now for over 34 yrs. The roof leaks and is crumbling on the inside. There is patches of black mold in the back bedroom, and you can literally put your hand through the wall!! They have mice every now and then that seem to come from the neighbors garage. It,s a 2 bedroom bungalow thats ready for the dump in my opinion. My parents have always tried to give myself and my sister everything we needed growing up, and they usually came through. We didn't grow up rich or well off, both my parents are hard working blue collar canadians. If I could do something like this for my parents.....well words can't explain it. I just want my parents to retire comfortably and be able to live in a safe clean house. I want them to enjoy their new grandaughter in a healthy environment!

Many people are neglecting to mention what these kids went through. They were undernourished and skinny. They were way behind in learning basic skills. They surely were emotionally traumatized by living with a neglectful and abusive father, no matter what form that abuse happened to take. Their aunt and uncle saved their lives! The gift here wasn't for the family with the smallest house and the oldest furniture. It was for a kind family that not only took the girls in, but in rather short order turned them into thriving, happy, healthy kids. That's why they were chosen.

I don't know why so many people expect Oprah to bail them out of trouble. And at the end of the day, this is a tv show that focuses on ratings, not a charitable foundation.

If you're stuggling because you don't have health insurance - VOTE!

If you're worried about the education your kids are getting - VOTE!

If you're having a hard time getting by because decent jobs are disappearing in your area - VOTE!

And research those candidates before you do, not falling for ads about who's got the most patriotic heart or the nicest smile. Vote for candidates that will bring jobs to your community, fix our schools, get health insurance to our ~48 million uninsured people.

Opah isn't a fairy godmother. She doesn't owe us anything. As a nation, we need to change how we take care of each other, making it easier for hardworking people to get by.

Besides, it's not right for people to struggle, but we still have it easier than people in many parts of the world. If you're a woman who can read this, you're already way ahead of the world's poorest women, many of whom dream of nothing more than literacy. So count your blessing that you can read, that you have computer access (you're ahead of most of the world), and that you aren't living like those girls did, or that if you once did, you got out.
