When will Oprah do a show dedicated to the abuses and criminal activity of the Church <spit> of $cientology? She could get Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kirstie Alley all together and ask them why they support a global scam designed to extract the most money possible from its members.

And she could cover the activities of Anonymous and other critics at the same time. Have Tommy and crew give their take on the evil cult of greed.

Sorry to reply to my own message, but I forgot to mention that she can also have on Jenna Miscavige Hill, Astra Woodcraft and Kendra Wiseman: All 3 young women have been subjected to disconnection from their parents, friends, associates, etc. that choose to remain in the Church <spit>.

It would make an interesting topic, but I think famous members of this organisation won't tell you about the negative aspects of it. She should ask the people who claim to have these experiences. I personally don't trust this 'church' for one inch. But I don't have any experience with it. Maybe someone on this forum can tell us something more?

I'd love to see someone do a show about the reality behind the PR of that cult.

I had NO idea what it was about until I got a bit freaked out by that video of Tom Cruise back in January. I read a ton of stuff online, both pro and con, and I keep wondering how all this stuff cannot be public knowledge, and how Scientology even stays in business given all the laws it's broken. I'm a little scared that eventually, people will stop talking about it again, and it'll be back to business as usual. That's the scariest thing of all -- what the world would be like 100 years from now if Scientology did what it wants to do -- wiped out all psychiatrists, all those who oppose it, and put all those who asked questions into the SP hall, or something. Compassion is a "low-tone" emotion in Scientology, and those who have "low-tone" should be "disposed of quietly and without sorrow".

Just Google that phrase, "disposed of quietly and without sorrow," and you'll see what worries me so much.

Wake up, America. It's not just al-Quaeda we have to worry about. There are die-hard Scientologists on the loose, and they have been ordered to lie to you about their true goals. It's scary.

For any Oprah fans who may be reading this:

There are TONS of articles, court documents, and news stories about Scientology and the the actions that the group has taken. If you are concerned about what is happening to Tom Cruise, then I strongly suggest looking into the information that is out there! Here are just a few things to search for:

- "The Unfunny Truth About Scientology:" This is the video that I watched that got me interested in Scientology in the first place. It is available on YouTube. Don't watch with an empty stomach...

- Wikileaks has many of the "higher-level" Scientology 'scriptures,' called the Operating Thetan levels. Scientology members have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to read those documents, even though they contain the core beliefs of Scientology. These documents are available for download from Wikileaks, for free.

- The Fishman court case shows the litigious nature of COS (Church of Scientology), and how they try to keep their 'scriptures' private.

- Google video has a video called "The assault of Bob Minton" It has some harsh language, so don't watch with the kids. The man in the white striped suit works for Scientology. What he is doing to the protestor is called "bull-baiting" and is taught in an official part of the COS's 'scriptures'

- Google 'disconnection,' the official COS policy that forces family members to separate from their loved ones if they disagree with Scientology.

And this is just the tip of the iceburg. If you're like me you will be enraged by the things that this group has been able to get away with. THIS IS WHY we are all concerned with Oprah's ignorance on this matter, and with Tom's, and the other Scientologists' well-beings.

Was anyone else disappointed that Oprah talked about Tom Cruise's exclusive mountainside home on the show with Eckhart Tolle? I was.

I agree. Im sick of all the celebrity worship. Real issues are what's important and Scientology is very real and very damaging. It needs to be exposed. I just think Oprah is afraid to make her little friends upset.

I'm a big fan of Eckhart Tolle and think it's awesome that Oprah did these online classes. I really think that Oprah should bring up Scientology as an example of an organization that goes completely AGAINST what's taught by Tolle. Scientologists are brainwashed by their leaders and are as far away from the "Here and Now" that you can get! If we really want to awaken a new earth, stuff like this HAS to be exposed!

You're so right. I saw a BBC documentary in which the interviewer was being threatened and verbally abused by scientology staff, when he tried to interview an ex-scientologist. They actually followed him around and spied on him in order to do so.

I don't know what it would take for Oprah to do a show on Scientology. Perhaps the only thing would be a huge news item related to Scientology. Something that is on the 5 o'clock news and talked about for weeks, akin to what is currently going on with the Texas polygamous sect.

Instead of the Morton book on Cruise being the best seller, I wish there was a comprehensive new book about Scientology, exposing it for what it is, that would rise to the top of the best seller list and stay there for weeks. This book would have to have a chapter on how Hubbard set out to use celebrities for propaganda purposes, in a most specific and calculating way, designed to bring in more members, which in his thinking, of course, meant more dollars.

Sally Jess Raphael did very good show on Scientology years ago, entitled SCIENTOLOGY RUINED MY LIFE. I read the transcript online. She really asked all the right questions and had on guests, mostly ex-scientologists who were good. Scientology got a few law suits out of it though.Legal departments of talk shows may now have some kind of advisory not to touch the subject.

I read where Oprah is forging some new venture with Kirstie Alley. (Not a major thing, more a minor one.) If Oprah were to become a Scientologist, she would lose over half her audience. She lost 7% for endorsing Obama. I don't think Oprah will become a Scientologist though because she is too busy doing her show, and philanthropic work, and her spirttuality is too personal and fluid to chain herself to a totalitarian cult such as Scientology, where compassion and empathy are considered undesirable qualities.

One of the problems with Scientology, is that it, and the life of its founder, Hubbard, are over-the-top unbelievable. The story of Scientology and the things that go on within the organization are stranger than fiction. A religion that has a prison camp for example, or a KGB-like espionage division, and these are just hundreds of things that need to be made into a topic of both popular and serious discussion and prosecution.

One of these more important issues need to break out as news.

Not to be underrated though, is the influence and work of Project Chanology, with has historical significance. Where legal systems have failed and abuses continue, in an organization that is secretive, deceptive and well-funded, Anonymous may succeed in exposing Scientology, whereas everything else has failed due to bribes or Scientology's intimidation tactics.

I don't think Oprah's ever going to do a show about the Cult of Scientology.

When you think about it, none of her shows are really controversial. She does inpirational, light-hearted, and informative shows.

When she does serious shows, it's not usually something that could put her in a negative light. She does shows about puppy mills, child abuse, violence against women etc. No one could really argue for the other side.

It's a good survival tactic. It gives her the illusion of caring, without actually having to step out on a limb or form a real opinion on something controversial. She doesn't have to step on anyone's toes (at least no one important).

It would be nice - and it would probably help her falling ratings - but I wouldn't keep my hopes up. It's too risky for Oprah.
