I read "Middlesex" in July. I just took the quiz (Sept. 14) and I only missed one question. I'm surprised I could remember that many details! I just got the email about next Friday's show on the book. I'm looking forward to seeing the interview with Jeffrey Eugenides. Anyone out there want to venture to guess what Oprah might pick next? It seems that Pulitzer and Nobel prize winners have been favorites lately. Will she pick a classic this time, or will she choose a more current book?

I got 15 out of 15 and finished it end of August. It is the first long novel I've read in a long time so I was surprised that I remembered all those details. This wouldn't have been a book I would've chosen on my own to read and my first book club reading. I really enjoyed the book and learned a lot. I always thought very black and white about gender identity biologically but reading this book has taught me how complex the human body is. I didn't know there were so many variotions of intersexed people there are. I also realized that although I'm a very feminine female, I was suprised to read all those male-like traits described in the book that I possess in my personality. So that made me realize that we are all male and female in some ways and as Oprah always says, everyone wants to be accepted for who we are and is looking for the validation. The ending scene with Desdemona and Cal really touched me. It was also interesting reading the literary anaylsis that people posted on the previous online discussions. I can't wait for the next pick.

I have read almost all of Oprahs books..but this is the first one I couldn't finish My New Years resolution for 2007 was "I am not wasting my time finishing a book I don't enjoy, there are too many books to read. I just read "The Kite Runner and am on the waiting list for the authors next book. I want to read books that I can't lay down , books that I don't want to end, and this was one of them.

I haven't had a chance to read Middlesex yet. I was busy finishing "My Father, My President" by Doro Bush Koch which by the way I recommend!

Why do I see "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini as the next selection?

What do you guys think?

I did read the entire book, but I have to say that I found the majority of it rather boring. It is extremely well written with a lot of intricate layers to understand and ponder, but I just felt that it lacked that necessary ingredient to keep me interested. I would not recommend this book to a friend.

I have just bought the book, Middlesex, and I was anxious to read it until I read some negative comments. I'll let y'all know what I think of it after I read it.
