Hey, 50 is great. Nothing like being alive, be healthy and be able to be present everyday. And, there's something very liberating about it, isn't it? I like who I am, much more than when I was 20! Thank you, Jamie Lee and thank you, Oprah! Please have more shows like this. I want young women to look forward to getting older and not miss the opportunity to celebrate life!
Loved your comments about why you're not reading "A New Earth." I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's choosing not to drink the Kool-Aid. I like Oprah's show, and I think she uses her fame and money to do a lot of good, but I'm so sick of her pushing everything she happens to like on her audience. "You should read this..." "You should wear this..." "You should eat this..." "You should wash your face with this..." I'm sure she's just sharing information she thinks is helpful (and perhaps it is), but it has a tendancy to make her come across as a know-it-all -- as if she's saying we would all be lost little lambs if she weren't there to guide us.
"Old-girls?!?!?!"
. . . .whoa you're asking 4 trouble, with that statment.
I saw a playboy mag. with Jake "Raging Bull" LaMatta's wife; who was 50 at the time of the photo shoot and she looked a heck of alot better than some of these 20-30 something females who weigh 100-120lbs with no "meat" on their bones.
Yes, she was " thick "
, and shapely . . . . .at "50"! ! ! !
You may want to change your generalization of "OLD-GIRLS". . . . or just visit some of the southern cities/states: ie. Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, etc.
DUAL
Naked? Not naked, strapless.
Fun reading what you young gals - only 50??- are saying. I'm just a few months from 65, liking myself more than I ever have. I look how I look, try to stay healthy and am active, love to travel, have the best hubby ever the second time around, love LIFE!
Now, doesn't anyone want to know where Jamie Lee got that gorgeous sweater??
Jamie Lee's white lace-like sweater...what I want to know is... how and where you can drive by a clothing store like driving by a MacDonalds, and have your order handed to you! What a cool idea!! No parking the car, getting out and walking across the boring parking lot, or into the even more boring mall. I love to walk, but I am not a fan of malls or most of the stores in them. She was intense and passionate and maybe even ADD hyper, but she was very accurate in many of the things she said about our consumer society and what it's been doing to women (of all ages) for way too many years. I fin dher intriguing, so I'll look for her books for kids...I bet they're different than the run of the mill ones are. Bless her for that! And, I LOVED Selma Hayek on that same show. So full of spirit and grace, and so willing to love. What a wonderful role model.
I have so much respect for Jamie lee and the fact that she does not feel the need to buy into the "hollywood" idea that every wrinkle, every little flaw, should be erased or air brushed away. I am at age 52, proud of my, body and face, which I believe I have every right to "deserve" as my award for living life, and being a survivor!!! By the way, I have been told on numerous occasions that I look like Jamie Lee, and I take that as a huge compliment!! Bonnie
Thanks for your post as it gives me the opportunity to post what I am thinking - that is....Oprah you are a hypocrite. In the first segment with Jamie Lee - who is RIGHT ON - you asked "when did we lower our standards????" and then turn around with Selma and justify NOT getting married!! So WHO lowered the standards???????? YOU!!!!!!!! You are a iconoclast - yeah that's right - with a global impact that you are very well aware of - and despite all the good you do which no one can take away from you - then and there you say to millions it is ok to not committ!! Don't bother - I KNOW I've heard it - there is a committment. How about doing a show on the FEAR OF COMMITTMENT - it ticks me off that we can "pick and choose" what moral laws we decide to follow!!!!!!!!!
I also agree with another poster - Jamie Lee should have had the whole show!! Her intelligence is riveting and refreshing!!
I agree with the following statement below completely! I was so disapointed when she was done. she was so wonderful and uplifting to listening to instead of that ....................Selma Hyak, who knows nothing. No role model that is for sure!. "I also agree with another poster - Jamie Lee should have had the whole show!! Her intelligence is riveting and refreshing!!"
News flash...I am pretty independent and not capable of falling into anyones spell..you should ask my mom..she would agree. I have not read A NEW EARTH or anything anyone recommends. I find own path, therefore I am very happy in life. I read what I find interesting and do not need self help books..I rarely solicit advice. But when I do its from real friends...sound people. Oprah (while knowledgable b/c of her resources), along with anyone else on TV is a form of enterntainment to me. But obviously, you are the one under her spell, you were so impassioned by the Selma Hayak interview or else why so defensive, and so insulting to her....and to her baby..A BABY! Sounds to me like you were under a spell....
Yes! Drive-by shopping, I LOVE it! Just call 'em up, make sure they have your size, zip by and pick it up. They already have your credit card # because you are a regular customer. I loved her take on some of the changes that are happening in our society too. When did it become ok to NOT require our kids to take responsibility for themselves? Our grandkids get their papers graded in purple ink, not RED, which would be too stressful for their little psyche's. Road apples. When do they get to figure out it's a tough world out there and you do not always win? No wonder kids are killing kids.
Men do not even think to pose naked at age 50 to somehow celebrate feeling good about themselves. Men don't need to display that their body is still "good." And as for Curtis in particular, this is the sort of sad stunt that might jumpstart her career. That's the REAL reason why she's doing it.
Interesthi,
Ummmm, obviously you didn't listen or even watch the show. She DID NOT pose nude
