Just received my AARP and she is not nude. She definitely looks her age too. I wonder if all the interest in her being nude is that she is a hermaphrodite. That explains the short hair cut, the unisex name, the adopted children people. If she does pose nude, maybe it would be the first - first 50 yo hermaphrodite nude photo!

Wow! Just finished watching Jamie Lee Curtis on the show. I always make time for her. I must say, I CAN'T BELIVE you cut her short for Selma Hyack because she had a baby!

I mean, nice for her and all, but look at the amzing dialogue that Curtis has to offer, on truly vital issues for family, women and life, and you guys hardly gave her any air time. shame shame.

At the very least a full hour of Curtis, (which it isn't in actual clock time taking out the comercials), any time she's around. I turned Oprah off as soon as Curtis left. Good for Hyack, But fantastic Curtis!

To kdsmoon who posted 4/7 at 3:19....I am one week older than you and agree so much with what you said. I am a (too) strong woman who, if it's true what you wrote about making people nervous, has no friends. The phone never rings. I joined a New Earth book group in a concerted effort to remove my ego from my strength so I might make friends, but is that even possible to do? In my mind, I don't approach people with intentional anything, but I have been told that I come off as too direct, tactless and abrupt. I admired and agreed with everything Jamie said, especially about the dumbing down of America. I am a fourth-year third grade teacher with students who suffer no consequences for not doing homework or getting bad grades. It's more than scary. Anyone else pick up on that? Peace and love, Linda

Only thing is, she was not nude...

Unless you are speaking rhetorically, I'll answer only if you answer the question why not?

In that case, assume it is rhetoric. Surely you realize Jamie Lee Curtis did not invent posing nude at age fifty? Al Gore already invented that.
Yawn... Old girls posing nude is soooooooo last season.

Actually it goes futher back then ...Al Gore??:|

Ah to be so cynical Ms Myak... And neither is she a girl, nor is she old.

I am thrilled to see Selma's enthusiam at being a new mom. I was disappointed to hear her comments about young mothers though. My daughter had her first child at age 21. This year she is celebrating her 30th birthday, her 10th wedding anniversay, and getting her undergraduate degree. One of the hardest things for her to deal with these past 10 years has been comments from older women who think she is living her life the wrong way. Fortunately, she is now realizing that their comments are a reflection of them, not of her. I have been working in corporate america for the past 24 years and I have found that women often have a hard time supporting other women whose decisions were different from their own. So much hard work has gone into giving women choices, now we just have to convince women that we can celebrate and give honor to all choices whether they are the same as ours or not.

Ditto to mntlily: JLC has a lot to say on important issues and deserved MORE time!

The show seemed very rushed, and maybe that's why JLC was talking so fast. I hope Oprah has JLC back on so we can enjoy and learn from her wisdom.

Re: Selma on the same show, I enjoyed her, too. And what she had to say was just as important, yet not relevant to my life in my post-child bearing years. I am happy for her! It was wonderful that a beautiful, glamorous star like Selma can be so real about post-pregnancy!!! Nine months up, nine months down. I feel very sad for our youth that is exposed to certain celebrities weeks after their babies are born parading around town with flat tummies. ...So unrealistic. Good for Selma!!! to take the healthy route and be real. Peace1647

First of all, the show is entertainment, so taking a comment very personally seems like a bad idea. It's a show to portray other people's opinions and experiences. Salma Hayek's experiences have formed her opinion that in her 20's, she would not have been the mother she can be today. I listened to what she said and it did not at all seem that she was condemning anyone for having children at a younger age. But it is undeniable that the longer you live the more life experience you have. Most (not all) 20-somethings do not have the same ability to handle parenthood as they would a little later on in their lives. I am a 40 year old mother of 3 month old triplets. I know I could not have been a mother in my 20's, and actively chose to wait. But in support of what Ms. Hayek said, that does not mean that having children young (or older) is wrong for all women. It's an individual choice. Breastfeeding probably helps in losing weight, but again, everyone is different. Certainly being younger helps as well. I gained 50 pounds with my babies, and lost 30 the first week. That stubborn 20 that remains is my nemesis - and I am breastfeeding THREE babies and was in decent shape prior to pregnancy! Bottom line - enjoy the show and try not to judge.

I’ll tell you why you’re still FAT, Salma: BECAUSE YOU’RE OLD and you just had your first baby! Ok, she’s gorgeous and I don’t think she’s fat under that big stiff shirt, but how stupid is she to insult so many of us? At 41, she claims a person can “have it out of your system,” but she seems erratic to me. Only time will tell… By the way, sweetheart, be sure to thank Pampers for donating 5 cents every time we pay $14 for a pack of diapers. What a crock.

Congratulations, Darla! That is an amazing feat, and I wholeheartedly pat you on the back for taking on such an awesome, but wonderful, opportunity and experience. I think my ire was up because I've read a few threads about how Salma Hayek is essentially condemning marriage and young mothers, and I did not get that at ALL from what she said. I agree that motherhood is either a success or a trial on a case by case basis, but at the risk of generalizing, I feel that people do not mature as swiftly as they once did, and as a result of this there seems to be something valuable in waiting until we've achieved a level of maturity conducive to good parenting. I have a wonderful friend who had her first baby in her early twenties, who openly admits that she was too young to really know what she was getting into, though she and her husband were eager to get started. My own mother had me when she was twenty, and I have to admit that there were times that the closeness in our ages was a real problem, since I was going through my teens when she had just realized she wasn't one anymore. I waited until my early thirties to have my wee one, and I am so grateful that I did, because I would have been ill-prepared in my twenties, and also, I was in a relationship which would have been detrimental to the overall environment. What tends to happen, because we are human after all, is that when we cannot identify ourselves in the positive experiences of another, we tend to villify them, because it strokes our fledgling egos. I think Salma was misunderstood to some extent, and I truly applaud her honesty and integrity. I am not what I'd call a fan of hers by any stretch of the imagination, but she's a woman, and a strong one, and I love that.

I don't feel that Jamie Lee was putting the schools down, but the parents who are forcing this dummying down of the kids, I am glad to hear that you appreciate the hard work of the students and the teachers when they are allowed to do what they know is the right thing for being sucessful in this world. Again, I thank you for recognizing what should be done in classrooms, but many times as a teacher felt the parents were putting up the road block. Not the school systems.

Jamie Lee Curtis was FABULOUS on Oprah today. I love her and her attitude. She's so positive but truthful. She is a great example of how you can appreciate and embrace life as you get older.

Wow - a lot of ego crap going on here! Chill out! Any single person (that would include Jamie Lee & Selma) who takes a step to make the world a better place is worthy of respect. What have you done today?

I am sorry I missed the show. Jamie Lee Curtis has always been a level headed woman of integrity in the midst of the Hollywood chaos and confusion. Her parents raised her well.
