marriage-

Posted on Apr 7, 2008 3:49 PM

I have never posted a message before, but after just watching what was said, I couldn't get on here fast enough. I just wish Oprah would see this. I am so upset over how Oprah and Selma have trivialized marriage. To those of us who are Roman Catholic it is not just a piece of paper!!!!! It is a sacrament and I am sure for many others out there it is more than a piece of paper as well. Young woman don't need to hear that. We need to move towards morality and family again. If that is the way her and Oprah feel, fine, but they glamorize it and try to justify it by saying you are losing power and isn't it better to say "wish you were here" instead of "wish you weren't here" come on. Shame on Oprah and to also condone, let's have a baby without a marriage. The morality in this country can't get any worse, or so I thought.

It was interesting that Selma kept on saying "my child" instead of "our child". She wasn't even including her fiancee, she kept on repeating, my child. I don't see this relationship lasting for long. It's all about Selma and her child.

I also have never used this site before. I let a lot of what Oprah says slide. I feel that Jamie Lee Curtis was great today and I agree that children today are being raised by parents that do not care that their kids will one day grow up and look like a bunch of stupid spoiled adults. I did not hear Oprah agreeing with Jamie Lee on those issues. But, Selma comes out and blurts out a bunch of stupid comments about the right age to have kids and than goes on about people that are married do not have sex or love their partner anymore after marriage. What a load of B.S. I had my daughter at 20 and my son at 25 and I am so happy. I will not be an old parent at my daughter's high school graduation next year; I will only be 38!!!!! I got married at 19 and I am still married to the same man!!!!! We celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary in July. Why not do a show on marriage in a positive light Oprah????? Wow what a concept!!!!
