Dr OZ

Oprah opened her show saying that people don't go to the Dr out of fear. WRONG!!!! I amoung others don't go because we have NO INSURANCE!!! Even when you do, the copays and things that insurance don't cover are NOT affordable. I am a female 55 years old with no insurance. I do not have so called EXTRA cash to go to a Dr. I have high chloesterol. Breast and lung cancer on my moms side and heart disease on my dads side. I get lipotor from a mail order company. I have not had a REAL checkup in over 10 years. I want to be around to see my grandchildren grow up, but at this rate, I won't be able too. So where do I turn?????

I was a well paid, highly ranked and rewarded member of a company that ranked at the top of Fortune magazine's Best Companies to Work For. I not only paid into the high cost, medical insurance plan, but also bought the Long Term Disability plan. *#* One grim day over five years ago, I fell down a flight of stairs while attending a company sales conference. Because I was injured during a company activity, it became a Workers Compensation case and LTD paid me as defined in the insurance plan. The Workers Comp experience was an absolute nightmare. I believe that if they had worked with me instead of against me every minute, I would have gotten better quicker and it would not have been a contentious legal case. The case was eventually settled practically as I was being rolled in the operating room so they would have to pay for the surgery and rehabilitation. *#* Well a year has gone by since the settlement and I finally felt the wounds of the Worker's Comp experience just start to heal, when I got a letter from my Long Term Disability company. They are suppose to guarantee that the total of all my compensation adds up to 66 2/3% of the salary I was making while working. But they performed some crazy math calculations based on my settlement that we were able to prove were wrong by my attorney and actuarial who negotiated the settlement, and now LTD wants me to pay THEM almost $50K AND they the lowered my monthly benefit. I am challenging LTD, but they still have seen fit to garnish my entire monthly benefit which is over 2/3 of my monthly benefit. *#* Furthermore, LTD started a review in which all of my physicians have to make the case that I am still disabled. AND, I have been summons to appear in front of a judge to determine the state on my disability. *#* I find the timing of all of this devious. And I am suspicious of an effort to reclaim money from money from me. It may be the first step in trying to cancel my policy, like other insurance companies are beginning to do. We recently had a gentleman "fined" a penalty greater than the entire sum his LTD Company had ever paid him. As for me, their action to garnish my entire benefit leaves me in a difficult financial position They clearly don't care that based on what they pay me, I couldn't possible have $50k or be able to live without my monthly benefit. To protect myself in this administrative onslaught and legal proceedings, I will have to hire another attorney and incur those costs, not to mention the ongoing mental suffering. *#* And I bet there is more to come.............. *#* As for cooter76, you have my deepest condolences.....and anger at the system. We just have to fix it. Despite all of the wonderful advances of the Technology Age, we failed. Yes we have lots of teenagers blowing out their thumbs texting messages, but we failed to address the fundamental issues of humanity - Poverty, Hunger, Global Warming, Sustainable Energy, Sustainable Peace, Health, Equality, and many, many more. But I am an optimist. I think that all that brain power, and all that creativity, if turned on the right things could absolutely solve these problems. And as the elections approach, it won't be an issue of looking to the Right, or looking to the Left to solve these problems, BUT LOOKING WITHIN.

Hi Dr Oz I took a copy of your green recipe that you take every morning and I gave it to my Mother. She is coming up to 80 and although she is pretty healthy for her age, I feel that you can't do too much to increase your immune system. But she lost the copy I gave her and having a Senior Moment myself I forgot to make extra copies. Would you be so kind and provide me with this recipe. Thank you dawn lewis. email address LEWISDAWN@ROGERS.COM
