A Pastor's Post

Posted on Mar 11, 2008 12:42 PM

Back in February I was preparing my schedule for March and planned a sermon on Rev. 21:1-2 on a "New Heaven and a New Earth." At the time, I didn't know the book "A New Earth" existed. How weird is it that the online class started the same week I planned a sermon on a "New Earth?"

424. Cult - Coming up short - Face the Smoke screen or Child of God
Mar 30, 2008 12:45 AM   |   In response to: realager

Cult or false teaching can be found by examining how they fail to give Christ His due in terms of His Deity. Cults will always come up short in terms of how they view Christ. Get to know Christ better and you will have confidence facing the smokescreen.Who has preeminence in your heart Jesus Christ or Eckert Tolle?

Isn't it also stated somewhere in the bible that when someone keeps refusing to hear and obey the Word of God you are to shake the dust from your feet and leave them be? Blessings, Sherribc

Actually the verse you are talking about is
Matthew 10:6-17

But go rather to the lost sheep
of the ouse of Isreal.
And as ye go, preach, saying,
The Kingdom fo Heaven is at hand.
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers.
raise the dead, cast out devils: freely
ye have received, freely give.

Provide neigher gold, nor silver, nor
brass in your purse.

Nor scrip for your journey, not two
coat, or shoes or staves, for the work-
man is worthy of the maet.
And into whatsoever city or town ye
shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy
, and there abide till ye go hence
And when ye come into a house
salute it
And if the house be worthy let your
peace come upon it.
But, if it be not worthy, let your peace
return to you.
And Whosoever shall not receive you,
nor hear your words, WHEN you depart
out of the house,or city, Shake off the
dust of your feet.

AND VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, IT SHALL
BE MORE TOLERABLE FOR THE LAND OF
SODOM AND GOMORRHA IN THE

DAY OF JUDGEMENT, than for THAT CITY OR
HOUSE.

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst
of wolves Be ye therefore, wise as serpents
and harmless as doves.

BUT Beware of MEN, for they will deliver you
upto the councils, and they will SCOURGE you
in their churches(synagogues)

You can't just take 4 or 5 words but need to
know the whole chaper, book and Bible to
truly understand a few words.

I am so sorry, that was not my intention.!

I thought by your question, you were not
familar with the whole verse and my explanation
about the whole chapter or book was to explain
why I was typing in more than the one verse.

I would never chastise , is that how you spell it?,
anyone. I am a christian but not about to throw
that first stone, too many would come back and
it me , hard, sorry I offended you.

431. Colossians 3 --- Patience
Mar 30, 2008 5:18 PM   |   In response to: sherribc

Yes, the Bible does say shack the dust yet it also talks about patience. ---- Colossians 3:5 --- Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. ------ Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

I am reading ANE. I wanted to see what it was all about because Oprah made such a big deal about it.

I don't buy into it! ET makes some common sense points that have been around since before time. But, he has no right to state that he knows what Jesus meant. He doesn't know what Jesus meant any more than you or I. Why do people think that Jesus meant something other than he said? Before you read ET's book, what did you think "poor in spirit" meant?

Also, why do you not believe that "a new heaven and a new earth" are not physical places? ET states that they are within us as if he knows for sure. However, who really knows for sure beyond what you believe? And, who's beliefs are correct? It's the same thing that non-Christians are saying to Christians. My faith is unseen just as your faith is unseen just as ETs is. He said he has never really thought about what happens after death. So, I know he hasn't experienced it. And, he lives in the NOW. So, he can't possibly know what is to come. He can't state with certainty that "a new heaven and a new earth" aren't physical in the future. Do you understand?

Many that do not believe that Jesus is our Savior continue to get very angry with those of us that do. When we state what we believe in they think we are preaching to them. I don't remember ever speaking directly to anyone before they approached me. I simply gave my opinion on this board because I am reading the book and I am upset about it. I already have peace and I can tell you that this book leaves me very unsettled because ET speaks as if he thinks he is the authority on spirituality.
Many say that the Christians are judgmental, but they need to look within themselves (ET's words). Those same people say that Christians are not tolerant. Careful. Who is really not being tolerant of whom? Why are your egos getting so angry about what we have to say? As long as it is any other religion but Christianity, then everything seems well. Someone accused me of being angry on my post. I had nothing but a message of peace. I asked that it be read in the Presence. I said I didn't want to offend. But just because "I believe that only those that accept Jesus Christ as their Savior will enter a physical Heaven and dwell with God for eternity" I get labeled as judgmental because I think non-Christians are going to Hell. Why the anger towards me? Do I not have a right to my beliefs? Have I physically hurt any of you on this board? Have I somehow abused your ego? Who really has the problem? Since I am a Christian and I am reading the book and I believe ET has misunderstood my Savior, I believe I have a right to speak up. That's part of a book club that is open for discussion. Why are you offended? You don't have to believe in what I believe or any other Christian on here. But, all of us have just as much right as you.

I am very thankful for the pastor. I read his thread because of his title. I think he has been very loving and kind to all. He was not being judgmental, he was just stating the facts as he believes them. And, he can watch the podcasts. He doesn't have to read the book to participate. It seems that many are reading this book searching for peace. It is his profession to help those find it if that helps you.

Keep your ego in check. If you don't believe as I do, it is your problem (so, I believe). If I don't believe as you do, so it is my problem (as you believe).

Please realize that I am not trying to be hateful. I'm just trying to get you to see that all faiths have a right to be on this board.

Is that so?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You have obviously not read my other posts ... I have promoted from the begining that all religions can participate here ... this also includes gay, bisexual, straight, differing ethnicities, etc. ... if you look at the thread of a Canadian gay student ... you will see that I was defending her right to be here ... I have even argued against labeling fundamentalist Christians ...

Like I have even told pastor41 here ... "you do not have to read the book" ... I have not stated that anyone has to read the book ... I have stated that if someone is going to understand the book's materials then they need to read the book ...

Many people posting here in this thread have not purchased and/or even opened the book ... including pastor41 ...

This is exactly why a point of delination for me is whether people have read and/or are reading the book (and not their religious preference) ... and if someone is not reading the book (and does not intend to) then why participate in the Oprah book club pick about Eckhardt Tolle and "A New Earth"?

In closing ... and to put this kindly ... I would encourage you to read my other posts in the future before responding ... especially before you select me again for consideration so carelessly ... I think if you read my posts in many of the other threads you will find that I promote inclusiveness ... and that you have made a great error in judgment about me here ...

Touch a nerve? I have read your posts. That is why I responded. You seem to pick and choose what you think should be here. How many times have you asked if someone has read the book? What does it really matter to you? It shows your ego is very busy. Remember, the podcasts are available. You do not have to read the book to watch those. In fact, I watched the first then bought the book because I wanted to see what other garbage was in the book. I have been stunned at the false claims ET has made. And, it is sad to see the people call in. They think ET hung the moon. "Oh, Eckhart where have you been. Oh, this is amazing." There are so many people searching for peace, love and acceptance. Yet, they are so hateful to the ones that try to tell them they know who can give it to them. And, after reading the book, they are still trying to find in within. Christians are only wanting to share with you. That is all. You have the ultimate choice. We just want you to hear about our Savior and what he has done. My life is just an ordinary life like yours. But, it has been far from ordinary with my Savior. I will sing of his love forever! No one is going to shut me up! Don't you want to know that feeling? Have you ever really been that passionate about anything? If you don't know Christ, you haven't. If only you would put down your labels of Christians and just get to know the person. I'm willing to know you regardless of your religion. But, I also deserve to be able to talk about my life. And, my life is in Christ. I am a Christian. I cannot separate that from who I am. And I am not the I AM. By the way, last time I checked, homosexuality wasn't a religion. How many self-help books have you read? When the next one comes along, you'll drop ET's. That's the way it goes with that guru stuff.
