How can Jesus be a prophet and a liar? In oone sentence Eckhart quotes Jesus in the Bible to make his point but then denies the Bible's reliability when it disputes his opinions. This seems so blatantly contradictory. No?

Life and teachings are only a contradiction when you take everything word-for-word and miss the open message, when you "can't see the forest for the trees".

But Jesus said "I am the way the truth and the life. Nobody gets to the father (God) except thru me" Eckhart says there are many ways anall of them lead to God. Who am I to believe? Jesus or Eckart?

Dube....Thankyou for posting, we try so hard to communicate with each other with words, and "little me" feels frustrated when we feel we are not heard or understood. I recognize that every word has multiple meanings, then add to that any history or feelings a word may have acquired according to our past experiences or future fears. Growing up in the late 60's and 70's(identified with the drug culture of that time) your very name "dube" placed on you an identity that I am sure is not who you are. You have awakened in me the need to learn a new language form "The Language of the Heart." and to choose the words of this world with a little more care, as well as to use caution as to what I read into others words and assume I understand there true meaning.

P.S. If your comfort zone is abiding by the scripture, word-for-word, then that's good for you. But there are also some of us who want to accept more and grow beyond the word-for-for approach, that's good for us. We are not at odds necessarily, just taking a different approach. No harm, no foul.

So you believe that Eckhart is right and Jesus is wrong? I am not trying to pick on you I am sincerely asking. This decision has eternal consequences and I want to make it right.

Oprah might not have a theology degree but do you? You seem to "know" Jesus enough to speak for him, why not Oprah?

You are to believe what you believe, Mr Tole, is not claming to be a messiah. he is a (being) giving the gift of his convictions. Gifts are free, to do as you want with them.

It is sad how some Christians are helping to destroy Christianity by opposing people here who want to find out what Tolle is saying and if it works for them. It gives other people an opportunity to bring up everything negative about the Christian Church that they can. Things a lot of us didn't know well before.

I believe everyone is free to say what they like (within reason) but people (like the poster) should realize they are not protecting the church just because they are defending it. In some cases they are inviting more attacks. I wonder who has authorized them to do that, other than their own egos. Is this a virtual crusade and will it have the same effect as the last crusade.

I do not have a degree I am simply quoting the Bible word for word. John 14:10 My question is simply Jesus or Eckhart. They are in complete disagreement on this point. Who do I believe? I cannot believe yes and no are right this defies the law of reason. It is unreasonable to believe both because they are opposed. So which do I believe? Jesus is "the way and the truth" or Eckhart is. One or the other? Which shoulkd I choose?
