Dear Jane, I am also a nurse and was really drawn to your message. I too have been searching for a purpose for some time now. I am still working in the psych field. I teach nursing and work at several other part-time jobs in the hospital and consulting, but have been feeling that I am not doing what I should be. I feel off the path. From time to time I meditate, but it has been a while. This morning I spent some time in the quiet and kept coming up with images of a hospice and a call to be with those terminally ill. I have not done anything like that for quite a while. So hello. And I wish you well on your journey. And I will read the book. And maybe we can talk along the way.

I was also recently introduced to Dr John Lerma and his positive inspiring works from a interview he did with George Noory on Coast to Coast. I agree it was an awesome and tremendous interview! I found out that he spent 10 years caring for his terminally ill patients in palliative and hospice care. This is his calling. And his book is quite wonderful I agree!
I can empathize with those dying patients because my own father was in a (thank God!) compassionate palliative care hospital for the last week of his life and the staff treated him with full dignity and love in his weak and dying last days of life. I was so grateful for their respectful care giving of my father. I think unless people have personally experienced a loved one in palliative care you can't imagine what infinite wonderful work these people do for our dying loved ones in this their greatest time of need.
