A Christian Awakens

Posted on Mar 18, 2008 12:31 PM

My view of God has been broadening and expanding over the last year or two. I have come to understand that we ARE all connected and that my energy impacts the universe. This book has continued that process for me. There is so much wisdom in Eckhardt's book. I believe all wisdom and truth is from God, even when it's not easy to see the egocentric parts of oneself. But Eckhardt doesn't judge or condemn you for being the way you are. And that encourages me and causes me to accept that part of myself as well, and thus healing and an awakening begins! Thank you Oprah and Eckhardt for undertaking this class! Love and blessings to you.

Yah Suby!! I had that experience as well. I have learned that God is much bigger than us. Any time I go to judge something (and believe me, we all do a lot more than we would be comfortable knowing....) I remember the scripture, "My ways are not your ways." This book just takes those same scriptures and helps you "think outside the box" a bit.

I think as Christians, sometimes we are so fearful that Satan is going to worm his way into our lives around every corner so that we shut down (is that maybe how Satan shuts us down though??? Through our fear of the "unknown"? Do people not trust God enough to pray before reading a book like this, or watching this video, to ASK God for protection if it's NOT what you should be reading? And just trust that process and make that "step of faith?"

Their fears make them quit "seeking and Ye shall find." There is more to God than just the Bible and my church. They are a great place to learn and get fellowship.

God is amazing and his wisdom is infinite (not limited)- and remember, "You have the mind of Christ... you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you!" Keep seeking!!!

beautiful letter it brings comfort (holy spirit) I read a quote that Saint Threasa I think, was asked a question about good and evil and he answer was, I give all my focus to God, and not the devil. I always wonder why some Christian talk about the devil more then they talk about God and always felt annoyed. I like your version better, thank you again.

I do believe that God so loved us that He came to us in the form of a human to teach us His ways, to show us how to live in this world in peace and love beyond all understanding. He showed us how to give of ourselves through service, forgiveness, and gratitude. He showed us His abillity to conquer death and that by believing in Him we can use the power of His Holy Spirit to help us on our spiritual journey back to Him.
The concern is that In the book, The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle says not to incarnate these enlightened spiritual leaders (I'm paraphrasing). I interpret Mr. Tolle to believe Jesus was indeed an enlightened human being, but that he was not God, one in being with the true Source. I get the impression that people are excited about Tolle's spiritualism and may find it easy to deny Christ as the Son of God because he (Tolle) doesn't deny Jesus's wisdom and enlightenment.
Are there Christians that put God in a box - yes; but aren't others also putting God in a box when they adamantly deny that Jesus could be another form of the one true God; deny that God would/could do that.? Do I think it's satan- I hope not. I know God loves us and is extremely patient with us. But what do you think if a person is raised a christian, who was taught about Jesus and what God did for us, and now says " I don't believe it"? I believe in the collective unconscious- we are the body of Christ. And and as Tolle does explain what others do and think does affect the Body.

I am reminded of the beautiful Serenity Prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, one moment at a time: accepting hardship as a pathway to peace. Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is and not as I would have it. Trusting You will make all things right if I surrender to your will. So that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next.

I read and listen with caution, but I'm concerned that Oprah, Eckhart and others have placed God in a box when they deny Christ.

Peace and love,
