This has to be one of the greatest shows ever!! I was so educated and well informed. As a young man and father, I will be the first to say that I was dumb concerning my body. Thanks Oprah and Dr. Oz for this wonderful show, I look forward to more.
This was a great show, very informative. There is very little coverage on men's health issues and alot of important questions were answered. I do have one question that hopefully Dr. Oz can answer. He was asked about wrinkles and was talking about how men should get facials when I thought I heard him say that you shouldn't wash your face every day. Unfortunately he was interrupted and could not finish. Is this true? If so, why and does it apply to woman as well?
Hi Dr Oz,
What determines the size of a mans penis? Other then like you said about losing 35 pounds to gain an inch is there anything that would increase penis size(length & gerth).? Also does it hurt the body to not have sex(ejaculate)?
I love Dr. Oz.HOWEVER he made a statement today that was not accurate. He said that goji berrys also know as wolfberries from China are the highest anti-oxident
in the world... They are not. The ACAI berry from the amazon are the highest in anti-oxidents on the planet with an ORAC rating of 1027 vrses bluberrys at 320.
There is extensive research done on ACAI as oppposed to folklore on goji. You can google Dr.. Alex Schauss the foremost expert on Acai
Kudos Oprah and Dr.Oz!!!!!!!! My husband works during the Oprah Show so I taped it for him. This was unique and a very important show today. I was very informed about things. I appreciate everything you do to improve our knowledge and lives. Love ya Oprah!!!! TY Dr.Oz!!!
about circumsizeing. i worked as a nursing assistant for three years in a nursing home. during that time i only had two men come in who were NOT circumsized. they BOTH had infections around the tissue of the penis. my advice would be to circumsize your boys. i did.
I loved this show. But I have to admit that I felt very shocked that Dr. Oz replied to the sex frequency question by telling the man's wife that his health would be "on her conscience" if she's not having sex with him 4 times per week!
I was shocked because sex isn't like eating healthy food (something each person can do for themselves). Sex involves the woman's body and desires too. And no one should be "obligated" to provide use of their body for the sake of someone else's health!
I know Dr. Oz probably meant this semi-jokingly. And I know I might sound like a fuddy-duddy right now! But in the light of how often men pressure us to have sex, and the guilt and obligation that we feel to accomodate (even when we'd rather not) can be kind of intense. Also, sex is different for us (women). Something's being put into out bodies. And we bear more of the negative health consequences than men do (like vaginal infections, and unplanned pregnancy). Women's health is important too, and the ability to decide what is being put inside our bodies and when.
I wonder if Dr. Oz would've made that "joke" with a man dating a daughter of his. Or if he would tell his daughter that her boyfriend's health is riding on her providing sex to him, otherwise it's "on her conscience".
My resulting question to Dr. Oz is this: Is it really women's obligation to provide this to men? Wouldn't masturbation 4 times per week accomplish the task?
And: Shouldn't we all be encouraged (even men) to take responsibiltiy for ourselves and our own health? And not put the responsibility on someone else?
Congratulations Oprah on realizing that there is a large part of your audience that is male and this show just proves further your commintment on educating the average viewer about important facts that many men and talk shows are afraid to address. Doctor Oz is great and I love his no nonsense approach to questions and concerns. I found the show to be informative and very enjoyable. Hats off to you and every one involved.
What I think needs clarification is the difference between sex and ejaculation.
Dr. Oz was chuckling as he answered the question about how many times a week to have sex, saying it would help a man live longer without saying how or why.
I suspect what is healthy for the prostate is ejaculation four times a week, which can happen with or without a partner and wouldn't necessarily require sex.
Hello Dr. OZ
The day is October 1, 2007 thank you for all your insight on the show today, I have a question regarding something you mention. you brought up antioxidants and the goji berry, I am taking a product due to the great result me my family and friends are experiencing from drinking this juice. Our bodies are being given all the nutrients it needs to be healthy.
The juice is called mona vie.
My question is Do you know about the acai berry from brazil? From what I hear it has the highest amount of antioxidants in it. Is that true?
Thank you for your time to answer my question. I enjoyed the show. You really caught my attention.
I'm a divorced mother and I have a daughter and a son. My son asks me questions about his body that I cannot answer because I simply don't know what it's like to be a boy and what his body goes through. Watching this show was very informative, but also made me afraid, or nervous about raising my son as a single mother. Oprah, I hope you have more shows that will help single mothers answer some questions or direct their young sons to places and/or resources that will answer those questions for them.
Please cheri6779, what are your credentials to back that claim? I sell a product that has the acai berry in it and believe in it's powerful antioxidants. please and information you can pass on to me would be extremely helpful. Sincerely, Jerry
So, I was watching today's dr. Oz and coming from a young female i myself think that we as women should have the same opportunities to ask some questions i mean even i myself have questions and i applaud Oprah for doing something like this because it helped me learn a lot more even stuff I didn't learn in medical school and its definately something im glad was did and i tivoed it and the only thing that my best guy friend wants to know is if there is anyway to increase your penis size like if supplements work or not but anywho let me know if anyone can answer this and what was the name of those things that can help re-gain hair that you lost?
I think that was an amazing show, and hopefully that is something that you plan on implementing in the future. Or maybe that will be motivation for a manly Oprah like talk show. I was hoping that more of the men in the audience would particiapte in asking questions... but reguardless, it was extremely informative.
This portion of my board is in response to kelliewals question... Is it true that you shouldn't wash your face everyday, and does it apply to women?
I am a licensed Aesthetician and have been practicing skin care (waxing and facials) for over 5 years now. My knowledge is not as scientific as Dr. Oz's, but I will say that for particular women/men (those who do not wear makeup and do not work/live around unfavorable environmental factors) can get away with not cleansing everyday. I believe this pertains to those who are not educated on how to properly care for thier skin as well. Using the wrong product and cleansing everyday can cause unfavorable skin conditions, dryness, oilyness, pre-mature aging. The oil that your skin produces (sebum) is produced for 2 reasons. #1 To create a barrier against the environment, and #2 to lubricate your skin and help hold in moisture. Now, women/men (yes-I've met a few) who do wear makeup daily, need to cleanse, tone and re-hydrate their skin. For every day that you do not cleanse before you go to bed... you age your skin 7 days. That is not only your body's time to restore and rejuvenate itself, it is also your skins opportunity to do so as well. So just remember this simple thought... If you don't make time for your skin, your skin will take time from you.
As far as facials, I wish that more men would come in. The benefits are everlasting. Stress relief. Massage. It assists in making shaving easier and helps with ingrowns. It slows down the aging process by stimulating collagen and elastin production. It allows you to look well rested and alive. Don't just shrug it off like it only belongs as part of girls day out... it should become a part of your lifestyle... not just a luxury. (Who wants plastic surgery when they get older...??? This is a great detourant!)
binker5, I've got a question for you. Your post clearly advocates circumcision because you don't like cleaning the penis of an intact elderly man from the nursing home where you work. Here is my question, would you advocate circumcision on an intact female? She can get infections too and she traps loads more smegma than an intact male.
Smegma is a Greek word for soap. Smegma is beneficial for the foreskin's natural separation to the glans, which occurs during the childhood years. The foreskin of all boys is tightly attached to the glans just as the finger-nail is to the finger. During a circumcision a doctor has to insert a blunt probe to peel away the skin from the glans, literally skinning the penis alive. The AAP statement on care regarding the intact newborn for parents who decline a doctors offer to circumcise their son: Do not retract an uncircumcised penis on a child. It is self cleaning, like the vagina. The foreskin isn't fully retractable until he reaches puberty and thats normal. Phimosis is an adult concern. You can not diagnose phimosis in a child since their foreskin isn't expected to be fully retractable until they've matured. Adults with a tight foreskin can be easily treated with a steroid cream and stretching techniques. A circumcision should be the last resort concerning treatment. In this case, a circumcision would be rare. Just like we're not cutting bits off girls to lower her chances for infections, boys should have that same inalienable right.
Cleaning a retractable foreskin is simple.
Retract
Rinse
Replace
A penis model is not required.
Scrubbing is NOT required!
