I am curious to know how many people diagnosed with bipolar are also diagnosed with BPD. Is this very common?

I cant tell you how common it is but I know that also have been diagnosed with boderline personality disorder. From what I have read and researched it does seem to go hand and hand in some fashion. Remember though that there are at least 5 types of borderline personality disorders that you can have. If you go to google and put in borderline personality disorder it will give you a discription of the various personality disorders there are. I do know that it gets a little hairy in therapy when determining what syptoms are BD and which ones are Borderline. Check out some of the artilcle online I think you will find it helpful......

I know some one who has borderline personality disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder along with bipolar. Her therapist told her that her BPD was a learned behavior from her mother more than it was part of her bipolar and that her OCD actually helped keep her from over spending because her OCD wouldn't let her go at anytime without paying her bills. Since she started on meds though, her manic episode here recently almost cost her her credit rating. I also would like to know how many bipolars also have BPD and OCD.
