I am watcing the BIG GIVE right now and i LOVE IT! You would have thought I was on the show! THIS IS A GREAT IDEA! I really hope we will get information on the people invovled in the show so that if we choose, we can donate to the individuals on the shows as well. Please make a space ont eh webiste to donate to the people featured on the shows so if we cant give today, maybe in the future we can .

I agree, I think that this is amazing what Drew Barrymore is doing. However, how can you Oprah discuss about how much it is costing for the war when the presidential candidate that you are supporting raised almost $50 million dollars for his campaign in the month of February alone? What about Hillary Clinton also? She managed to raise $35 million for February. What about the amounts of money they have already spent on this campaign? I bet that if you added the amount of money all of the political candidates have raised and spent over the course of just the last 6 months, never mind the last year....my guess is that it would add up to being close to the $3 Billion dollars needed to never let any child go to school hungry. Great Job Drew!!!!

I'm currently at home on maternity leave with a five-week old beautiful baby girl and have been fretting about having to supplement with formula on top of breastfeeding because my daughter has had trouble gaining weight. After watching the first 10 minutes of the show today with Drew Barrymore, I was instantly inspired to go right to www.oprah.com and donate to the red cup program to help children who are REALLY having difficulty getting enough to eat. Thank you for helping me put things into perspective!

Wow!! It is so great to see Drew Barrymore doing so well. I applaud her for her work to help to hungry children of this world. It is such an important situation facing children of this world. I was surprise that Oprah compared the 3 millions dollars needed to the amount of money spent on the Iraq world. I would prefer to compare it to the amount of money the presidental candidates are spending. It makes my skin crawl when I hear how much money the candidates are raising and spending. I would actually respect the candidates more if they would do something worthwhile with the money.
It makes me sad that our troops have to hear comments like that quite often. My brother will begin his second tour in Iraq next Fall. The one thing that bothered him the most when he was overseas was listening to comments, like Oprah's comment today, being made on national TV.

I just got done watching drew on oprah, and I am so mad.....the african woman was on saying she didnt have money to feed her 9 children, and she had to put a rope around her stomach to stop herself from feeling hungry....did anyone ever think to supply these women with birth control pills, or maybe put the rope around her legs so she didnt spread them to have more kids.....she keeps having kids, and expect the world to support them....i had 2 kids, my husband passed away when then were young they are now 23 and 25, and still struggling on their own...i stopped after 2 kids cause i wanted to take care of my kids....little did i know that my husband would die with them young, and i had to support them....all by myself. no body helped me, to this day, i still dont have health insurance and neither does my daughter...but these women in all parts of the world continue to have more and more kids, and expect people from all other the world to support their childern..my daughter has over 50.0000 dollars worth of college loans, how does anyone expect kids now adays to get through this.......it make me sick to see this woman on your show, who cant feed her kids, but keeps having them......what is the problem?

I am happy for the fact that people are stepping up to the plate to help these children who were born with out a choice. However, i am puzzled that the world isn't doing something to stop the population from growing so rapidly. The lady interviewed with Drew had NINE children!!! Why, i am sure she realized after the first or second that she couldn't afford to feed these children. I find it cruel to keep having children so you can sit by and watch them starve! Enough already...stop and take care of the children already born and get the situation under control before anymore children are born into this hell.

Oprah, you mentioned the war and how that money could be used to help out so many people around the world and including right here in the U.S. and I totally agree. I do have to say that even more disturbing than that right now is all of the money being raised by all of the presidential candidates to campaign. People all over the US contributing so much money towards their favorite candidate. There really should be another way to run campains without spending all of those millions and millions of dollars. Too bad we can't count on the free press. They are the ones responsible for the candidates spending more money than they should just because of the negative spinning from the press. So very sad!! Seems like such a terrible waste of money that can be used for a much better cause. There are so many people hurting here in the US and throughout the world that are very much in need.

Maybe the newly elected president can figure out a way to change things for the next election!

Let me preface my entry by saying I love what Drew Barrymore and many others do to help starving kids around the world. That should with out a doubt continue. What baffels me is, no one seems to want to find a solution to the problem. You can feed them all you want and these children will just make more kids to feed. They are still malnourished, they still live in horrible conditions, they still have diseases, and they still live in a part of the world that almost makes it impossible for them to succeed. Don't get me wrong some might make it to a better place in life, but how many others must die? I would love to implement my solution. I am not famous though and have no money. I really am very surprised that no one is doing it yet. My solution: birth control. Maybe a family could care for two kids, but after the 9th one they are all starving. It isn't fair to the kids, they didn't ask to be born. It is the ultimate form of child abuse to have a child knowing full well you can't care for them. I am not talking about abortion, just contraception. Some types of contraceptive solutions last for years and are easily removed if the woman does decide she can support a family. This doesn't just go for 3rd world countries. We would greatly benifit from this in the U.S. as well. It is far cheaper and less painful to prevent pregnancy than to support a child, especially one that is going to die of AIDS because the mother passed it on. Why does no one see the good in this?

you never hear, that anyone is supplying birth control or condoms for disease, i would have felt much better if drew announced that she was paying for birth control for these woman...

I commend Drew Barrymore's efforts to ease the pain of children and the world, but I have one question. What about the children in this country whose parents have lost their jobs or are in single families and are homeless, starving or both? What is being done for them? The food kitchens can't keep up with all of the displaced families and hungry children here and government continues to cut back the money for social programs which would help the people who are falling between the cracks at an alarming rate.

I'm pretty sure survival is the number one priority. These people deserve to live. Give them food - THEN give them birth control.

Drew Barrymore's passion is helping to feed the hungry. Giving out condoms just isn't it for her.

However, if you'd like to take it upon yourself to provide sex education to those who don't have it, by all means, do so! And there ARE people who are doing that. I don't where you've been that you haven't heard of women getting birth control in Africa or India, but there are.

Give these women a break!! They're doing the best that they can! You don't know their situations!

Hello, there are people starving in America! Tell Drew Barrymore to take her money to the inner cities and feed the poor. Giving these people in 3rd world countries makes no sense at all. They just keep breeding and no amount of food will be enough. We need to nueter and spay them.
