I ultimately believe in and practice "The Law of Attraction" on a regular basis. Reading ANE, specifically the chapter "The Core of Ego" leads me to believe that: by comparison they are very similar. The Secret's emphasis on what you "think" and project in the universe will come back to you an manifest itself in your life; whether it be materialistic objects, wealth, happiness, etc., what you "project" to the universe can be "projected" in different ways; for one you could be producing those thoughts in an egoic sense to build your ego and the way others perceive you. On another level you could be projecting your "thoughts" on a totally different level of consciousness. Some could be so "in tune" with there mind that they are producing and projecting that Law of Attraction without even knowing it; in some cases a persons mind is at such a higher state of consciousness that "things" or "forms" manifest themselves on an unimaginable scale.

Now to what Tolle is referring to as "The Core of Ego", "thought" in the egoic mind is simply your unconscious ego trying to block out your higher state of thought, blocking the "awareness" of your conscious mind. So the question of the relation (or lack there of) between "The Law of Attraction" and "The Core of Ego" ultimately contradict each other, right? Well not necessarily; both The Secret and A New Earth strive to teach us that there is a higher power and ultimately (generally speaking), through both books, the outcome in the end tends to be one in the same. I believe that It all boils down to one higher "enlightenment" if you may. In The Secret, you "think" whether it is with your ego or if it is on a different level of "awareness", you will get/receive things in your life that better your life. If my egoic self is sending out the "thought" of happiness, peace, enlightenment, etc. into the Universe (keyword Universe) the Law of Attraction says that we will get that. So ultimately A New Earth is teaching us to find that happiness, peace, enlightenment, etc as well. On the subject of "The Core of Ego", in order for us "to be free of the ego" and "free of the unobserved mind" we need to we "Aware" of this voice in our head that we call ego. BOTH THE LAW OF ATTRACTION AND THE CORE OF EGO, are one in the same; or at lease "byproducts" of each other. The ultimate "goal" in your spiritual self is to evolve, to transcend, to become enlightened - TO ACHIEVE A HIGHER STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS!

Could it be that these two (and many others) books are simply stepping stones to achieve a greater goal? Absolutely. Is it possible that a Greater Power, God, Source (pick any label you like), etc., "published"/ brought into our realm of "reality" these books/ideas in some sort of chronological order for us to understand one "idea" only to "graduate" to the next, until we reach true ENLIGHTENMENT? Absolutely. Only God knows how many more "ideas" we have to understand and "graduate" from; if you look back in history, how many "ideas" have we "graduated" from? It all boils down to the "understanding" of the Higher Power, the Creator.

Ponder evolution from the beginning of time; look how far our spirit energy has evolved and transcended into what we are now, one can only imagine how much farther we have to go! It will definately be the trip of a lifetime<-scratch that- THE TRIP OF AN ENDLESS ETERNITY!
