First of all, Jenny and Holly you all deserve a medal. I have a four year old son that has autism. It took them years to finally diagnose him. My husband and I notcied that there was something wrong with him early on. Jenny you said when you looked at your son's baby pictures and it made you sad cause that is when he still looked perfect. I so totally understand that. When I look through my son's picutres of when he was born, every parent stops and thinks of the life they will have and the dreams you have for them. Then you get the news that your son is autisitc and it slays you. Its like you said "what did I do to deserve this". In all reality, nothing. God gave you a special gift that he thought you could handle and believe it or not he was right. I would not trade my son in for a normal child for a million bucks. We have not accomplished everything that you all have and I wish that I could say that I have the strength to, but most days I am tired and really frazzled. There are days when I do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. But we keep trying and I do have a husband that is there and a great wonderful dad. He is really great with our son and is able to get more reaction out of him then I can.
I understand the constant crying and the stemming and the ability for them not care if you left him alone for the rest of the day. Thanks so much for some new hope and God Bless. I also understand the heartache and the not knowing. I understand needing a babystitter that you can trust so you can have a night out. I couldn't tell you when the last time my husband and I had a date. He is a full time job that you don't get paid for, you just get to hold on to all the special things that they do accomplish and to me even on the rough days that is better than money. Til this day my son still can't walk, and can't talk and they can't even tell us if he will ever be potty trained. He doesn't understand Christmas, and his Birthday but we just keep trying. God Bless you. I just can't say enough about how wonderful you both are for helping america and the world understand how real this is, and how if effects so many peoples lives. God Bless you
