Oprah's Shoe, Handbag and Accessory Intervention with Bra Updates

What would you say if someone told you that you could instantly look slimmer and leaner just by changing your shoes? On today's show, it's our first-ever shoe, handbag and accessory intervention!

The show was a real eye opener..........really helpful!

However, concerning the bra thing, it's not rocket science for most women to look into the mirror and see what's not working for their voluptuous build in the bra department. One must trust what they see in the mirror and look at all angles; not just a frontal view.

I love handbags and shoulder bags.........especially those new or nearly new ones which I purchase for little money.

This show was ridiculous. A gal in bad shoes and boring clothes shows up with new clothes, hair, makeup, shoes and bag and it's called a "shoe and bag makeover" . Hello. Keep her in the same clothes and give her a new look- thats a makeover. Those bags were not from Target. Nor those shoes. We are talkin' big bucks. Sorry. Bad show. I need dollar stretching ideas. Not this stuff.

talk about a bra intervention! i have watched every single one of your shows about bras. i have had bra problems ever since i was 14, been to uncountable fittings, and still have a problem finding the perfect bra. The problem i have is that i am a 34-36 H, sometimes I, or even J. i have an ongoing problem because the huge cup sizes hardly ever comes in 34-36. I usually find a cup size that fits just right but then it is usually a 38 or 40. When I buy it, i have to take it home and use my sewing machine to reduce the sides always. Talk about back pain, it is a day to day problem i have to deal with. A 30mins run at the gym is serious back ache for the rest of the day. I really need a bra intervention.

I'm with you. I have never in 58 years had a pair of shoes that really fit. I remember going with my mother as a child and teenager looking for not only shoes but clothes as well.. Since I am only 4'11-ish and weight 75lbs, all the clothes that fit are for 12 year olds! I just spent a couple of months looking for jeans, tried on more than I could stand, ordered them online and sent them back. Finally found a pair of girls with little hearts on the pocket, which fortunately I can cover up but was exhausting and disappointing. My foot is somewhere between a 2 and 5 depending on what they are and my heel is a quadruple A. I have hated shopping my entire life and I guess its no wonder! I too would love boots that fit my calf but since it's only 10" that is never going to happen. Cinderalla of Boston does make small shoes, but their sizes are medium width. It seems in order to get a narrow shoe, you need to have at least a size 7 foot. Does that make sense? Does anybody else notice that what used to be a size 2 or 4 is now a size 0? I know I have changed, but every year it seems the 0's get a little bigger. I guess that's why they started making double 0. Wonder when the triple will come out!

I was so annoyed with this show.

It was basically wow, your style sucks...here, put on some high heels and get yourself an expensive designer handbag.

And if you wanted more ideas for boots and shoes - it was "go buy the November Oprah magazine". When they briefly flashed on a page, I noticed a few flat boots that would better suit me and what I want in a shoe (but then I'm sure the stylists would say I was unfashionable if I actually wore them.)

After all the "makeovers" it seemed like the show was ultimately an advertising plug for Zappos and Oprah magazine. Except for the one pair of Cole Haan flats, the stylists did not provide any practical and realistic shoe ideas for women who have to walk or stand in their shoes all day.

On top of that.....awhile back, there was a behind the scenes show and in it, Oprah was handed her stilettos just before she walked on the set - because she said she couldn't walk in them! So while she sits there in her super expensive Louboutin high heels on set every day.....she never actually walks in them.

The endless "sponsorships" and product plugs and contrived push to buy Oprah magazine.....it's getting tiresome Oprah! If I didn't have a dvr with a fast-forward option, I would probably not even watch the show anymore. I've been a long-time Oprah fan, but I'm about done with this show.

Alright Oprah...I have to say, even though I LOVED the shoe and handbag part of the show....I was so dissapointed in the bra update! I was watching intently waiting for the information I need for us girls who don't really have girls :) If I ever have them, I sure know how to tuck and lift and shape, and ..... But how do I stop shopping in the tween department to help out my girls??? I want to feel sexy and curvy too, without having to spend $7,000 dollars ;)

sincerely from the "less curvy"

Hi, I had a question about the show this past Monday. There was a scarf that was one continuous circular piece (it did not have ends) Does anyone remember where it was from?? Thanks

I have had a love affair with shoes since I was a little girl. I have enjoyed a closet full of pointed high-heeled shoes for years that made me feel sexy and stylish. About 6 months ago I started to experience foot pain and saw a podiatrist who banished me from my "friends" except for very special occassions. I now find shoe shopping depressing because all the shoes I am suppose to wear are not cute at all and do not go with the professional look I need for work. It is the first time in my life that I actually feel old. With all the baby boomer needing shoes, I hope someone comes up with something soon that keeps us from having to wear "old lady shoes".

Don;t know if someone answered or not yet, but it was from the Limited.

145. Big feet
Nov 8, 2009 7:55 PM   |   In response to: harpobear

I was a little disappointed the stylists did not talk about large feet. I wear a women's size 12 and hate shoe shopping because in the rare occasion I find something that fits, many times the shoes make my feet look bigger or make me so tall I hover over most males in sight. My feet are so large that my ex-boyfriend called them "Texas-sized" (in adoration, of course), and they are frequently referenced as "skis". Where can I find big shoes? How do I make them look sexy?

I can empathize with your foot problems...I have similar problems and a leg length difference that complicates things further. I'm still on the hunt for semi-fashionable but comfortable shoes/boots.

As far as your bra problem goes, try Victoria's Secret. I too had difficulty finding a comfortable supportive bra and found underwires particularly uncomfortable. They have a few types that are designed with supportive panels instead of underwires. I actually have a few of their Body By Victoria underwire bras that I find comfortable.

Good luck!

I too am interested in the name of the Nike flat that is suppose to be as comfortable as tennis shoes. I replayed that section over and over trying to understand what Oprah's comments were. There is a post on Nov 2, that asks the same question but I don't see an answer. I also tried asking Zappo's but didn'[t get an answer. I want a pair. Thanks. hobihyatt
